Effort isn’t a coach fail. That is a players responsibility.

I forgot about Bird. What a disaster of a signing he has been.

Unb-Eel-ievable! Parramatta blow away Broncos 58-0

Very believable that Boyd was insipid and an embarrassment to himself.

Very believable that McCullough was so slow that I saw a turtle move quicker than him.

Very believable that the halves had zero direction and we had blokes like Gillett kicking on the last and Milford getting caught with it on the last.

Absolutely awful display of football from the broncos.

Touches with eyes painted on insist on injecting themselves after missing everything the entire game.

Video ref should’ve over ruled that blunder.

Touch judge's controversial call denies Storm of a late fightback

Raiders certainly got the better calls.

Fantastic result for rugby league – no possibility of a storm v roosters grand final.

Yes we Canberra! Raiders shock Storm in qualifying final

I think the fact that Head deserves to be dropped overrides the fact that Marsh shouldn’t have been picked.

Head performed pretty poorly and has nobody to blame but himself.

I’m not against Marsh, the logic makes sense in needing another bowling option but I’m not sure he will add much. I would’ve gone with Nesser and I would have dropped Wade.

Dropping Head for Marsh was a mistake

I’ll go the opposite.

Eagles by 10.

Giants by 18.

2019 AFL finals series: Week 2 preview

Marnus has had an amazing run in England no doubt. I couldn’t be more impressed.

However, he never really earnt his spot and it’s amazing he was even picked for Australia to begin with, let alone tour England.

I hope he continues on with the impressive display he’s put forward, but the numbers would suggest it’s only temporary and he doesn’t really have a body of work behind him to suggest he’s going to continue being successful. I suspect he’s a flash in the pan, but really hope I’m wrong.

Is Marnus the best first drop since Ponting?

We need an extra seamer, Cummins is going to break down if we have to keep relying on him to bowl a million overs.

Warner out for Khawaja.

Wade out for Siddle or Marsh.

The XI Australia must pick at the Oval

Zac Clarke can’t have anything but better ahead of him, he was the worst player to turn out in the AFL this year.

AFL 2019 top 100: Essendon Bombers

The bias in commentating is the least of the problems. I think some of the guys, Slater for example, actually make a decent effort of not appearing biased and they offer insight into the club that others can’t.

Others – Thurston for example, seem to just embrace the bias but still (occasionally in his case) offer snippets of value that others couldn’t.

The standard overall is low and probably the lowest it has been for a significant period of time. Bias isn’t the issue, terrible ex footy player commentators who have been hit in the head for 30 years, were educated between training sessions by being provided answers to pass year 10, and offer as much insight as a plank of wood are the problem.

How to fix rugby league commentary

I hope I am proven right, next year.

McCullough isn’t in my best 17 next year.

The players each finals bound side can’t win without

We could win without McCullough. We can’t win without Milford.

Very simple Emcie.

McCullough although our most solid option is less likely to win us a game than segeyaro or Turpin, so really it would be almost no loss if he was missing.

I would have thought Clarke (Dylan) could have done a job to shut down schuey or gaff….

West Coast Eagles vs Essendon Bombers: AFL elimination final forecast

Disagree about McCullough, he’s been woeful for most of the year and has been a solid but average performer for several years now. Has always held be broncos back from being a seriously top team with his lack of pace and poor creativity – however at times has held the team together and prevented it from being absolutely terrible with his consistent effort.

McCullough isn’t a match winner.

Milford is the man for me. If he plays well it’s probably due to the forwards dominating and him chiming in from the back. If he is our best player on the day (2015 grand final aside) we will win.

Laxman?

The five best Test innings versus Australia

Smith in for Khawaja and Pattinson to have a break for either starc or Siddle sees us with a much stronger lineup. We’re definitely a chance.

The english batting is still very frail (admittedly ours is too).

Are England now Ashes favourites?

If you think the dogs don’t make it… then that’s probably because they lose to the broncos…. meaning the broncos probably make it.

Which NRL teams will qualify for the finals?

Mixed in the same circles, he was definitely a flog.

Todd Carney talks to The Roar: On-field talent, off-field indiscretions and one infamous bubbler

Bombers are a chance I think. Sidebottom always plays well against the Dons and he’s a big out.

Hurley and Hooker both playing and Bellchambers back are huge ins, Heppell and Stringer out hurts but it’s offset by the ins. Fantasia has been ordinary this year and is in and out like a yo-yo anyway.

Collingwood vs Essendon: Friday night forecast

Fascinating in some ways but in others, basically the reasoning as to why he didn’t reach the heights he should have is he was ill disciplined and essentially just a flog.

“I learnt a lot” – but then just had further indiscretions soon after. Which means, he either learnt nothing or just didn’t give a crap about it.

The raiders were 1-6 against the top 4 teams and are now 2-6 after the storm took their foot off their throat.

It was a great win but one that probably provides as good a lesson for the storm as it does for the raiders.

I’d love to see them do well but can’t see them making the GF. I think they lack genuine out and out superstars, which is the reason why I think Manly (Trbojevic brothers on their days can both single handedly win games) are a better chance of disrupting the inevitable storm-roosters GF.

Prove me wrong raiders, but I don’t think they can replicate the performance they turned on against the storm. For the same of the game, it would be great if they did.
In what has been a lacklustre year of footy, a fairytale run for the raiders could save a rather ordinary year.

A laughing stock no longer, the Raiders are coming to beat you

I expect this article to feature in the “nuffies on AFL pages” Facebook page.

If Hawthorn winning 3 of 8 premierships and no other side bagging a a double isn’t enough to get them over the line, then nothing will. Short of them getting 5 spoons to go with their 3 premierships, they simply can’t not win this.

Absurd article.

Hawthorn are not the best AFL club of the decade

Raiders are the biggest whingers. They’re certainly the most frequent users of the “refs fault” excuse.

Which NRL club’s fans are the biggest whingers?

How a bloke gets 5 weeks for an incidental accident is beyond me, but it highlights the issues with the system.

Loading is garbage. Loading should only apply to the same kind of incident – ie history of crusher, spear, head high tackles. The loading is to prevent future issues or to change techniques of blokes. It shouldn’t be a catch all for “he’s a grub” so he needs an extra few weeks on the sideline.

Secondly, the game has gone soft. At worst the tackle was a careless accident, at best it was completely an accident. Any more than 1 week on the sidelines is a joke and given he got incorrectly binned, that should’ve been enough to prevent any suspension.

If you think rugby league’s ‘gone soft’, you’re wrong

Can’t drop Lyon, am really keen to see Starc, Pattinson, Hazlewood and Cummins all bowling together but sadly it just can’t happen.

If Lyon must be dropped, which I can’t see how. The above would be magnificent but would need to
drop wade for Labuschagne to squeeze in another bowling option.

Why Australia must drop Nathan Lyon for the third Test
