The Aussies played Bazball in the 90’s I think it was. The difference & the reason the Aussies won with this style, is that they were naturally attacking players. Gilchrist, M Waugh, Hayden all played naturally attacking cricket. The English are normal cricketers trying to be more attacking.

First Test Talking Points: Defiant Stokes declares he was right, Aussie duo stand tall, big-talking Poms pair left red faced

I agree. All people have to do is watch Travis Boak tackle. He has changed how he tackles & keeps the player out of harms way, but at the same time, stopping them. I am not a Port supporter but this is the new way. And yes, there will be some grey areas as there always has been. The #1 priority from a tackle should now be to stop the opposition rather than to get a free kick.

Nothing but propaganda: AFL showing pathetic leadership failure on the tackle issue

Good article 13th. There is something lacking although, taking a positive view, the lack of experience in our midfield is contributing. To add to your Pearce point, he is having an average season by his standards. Maybe the captaincy is taking a toll on him.

'Major concern': Fremantle must address critical leadership vacuum

The Pies the under dogs. Nah, good try Pete.

Footy Fix: 14 minutes, 29 seconds, six goals - how 2023's most brutal burst saw Port obliterate the Cats

Sad

Can Richmond thread the needle of not bottoming out?

No value….Gaff plus the Eagles pick 19 similar to recent Gold Coast trades.

TOM MORRIS: Adam Simpson is exhausted and the Eagles are a rabble. It's time for an amicable split

Yes the Eagles will do it there way, but they are in a position similar to the Dockers a few years back, and they gave them curry. The Eagles have made a rediculous number of major mistakes, both in football terms & in Admin terms, in the last few years.

TOM MORRIS: Adam Simpson is exhausted and the Eagles are a rabble. It's time for an amicable split

Tackling – watched Boak in the Port Bulldogs game on the weekend. His tackling has changed, never took a player to the ground, wrapped them up & stood firm.
Weightman – he will need to prove himself first.

Six Points: Sicily and Butler did nothing wrong, ridiculous Weightman pile-on, and calling out abysmal commentary

This is a 70% injury & 30% list management thing….or there abouts. There are a number of injured Eagles that everyone, apart from the Eagles, new were one kick away from another injury. And these players are the experienced group that the inexperienced players should be learning/leaning on. Yes they needed to keep some experience, but they should have fixed as this has happened over 2-3 years. Add to that the only experienced players they have playing consistently aren’t the type to lead the way, eg Gaff & Sheed (semi consistently).

Footy Fix: Historically bad Eagles are even more pathetic than you think... and it's more than just injuries causing it

A bump to the head is not within the rules….hence the 3 weeks. A good result for de Goey, but it’s not a bad decision.

'I don't go out to play my footy in a dirty way': Sorry De Goey gets minimum ban for brutal bump on Hewett

Hahaha…..

AFL News: Buckley says five-game ban on the cards for De Goey at tribunal, Bulldogs hit by string of injuries

What did Stewart get?

AFL News: Buckley says five-game ban on the cards for De Goey at tribunal, Bulldogs hit by string of injuries

It’s amazing that if the action is by a player in your team, then it can be seen as it’s ok. A far different view if it’s a similar action from a player in another team.

AFL News: 'Taking the p--s' - Great roasts Eagle's take on De Goey ban, Swans lock in 'Lizard' on mega deal

Nothing fair with the bump at all. It was very late, it was shoulder to the head, it was unnecessary, it was stupid with other options. And the AFL has been clear, this is not acceptable & players will be suspended.

UPDATED: De Goey sent straight to Tribunal as Eagle calls for 'month or two' ban

More a stupid decision than a poor call or a dumb decision, given the AFL is trying to get this out of the game, should get 4 minimum. Not a de Goey hater, just think that is what is reasonable.

UPDATED: De Goey sent straight to Tribunal as Eagle calls for 'month or two' ban

You mean the one that was gone when de Goey hits him in the head

Six Points: De Goey response a ridiculous overreaction, Port's perfect half, and the wildest round in years

I can only assume the de Goey comments is to get a response cause it’s bs. Went past the ball, didn’t tackle just targeted the player, shoulder to the head….and then looks down at the injured Hewitt with a well done look. All from an experienced AFL player. No over reaction, just give him the penalty that he deserves.

Six Points: De Goey response a ridiculous overreaction, Port's perfect half, and the wildest round in years

Is that really what McLaughlin did? News tome.

The AFL's response to Hawthorn racism investigation has turned me off footy

This not a Voss caused problem. It’s been like this for 10+ years. Support Voss & get the real problem in the board.

The clock is ticking for Michael Voss, Luke Sayers and the Carlton Football club

Matt Johnson May not get a rising star nomination….but who cares, he’s gunna be a jet.

Nothing Amiss about this nomination: Jye takes out Round 11

Yes better percentage but don’t kick as big a score. I understand you.r reasons, I think teams defend deeper against the Pies.

AFL Round 10 power rankings: Bombers Dreamtime, West Coast not best Coast and Suns' drought goes on

How does a sporting body like the AFL put out a position without consulting its members. They have no idea what their members position is. It really would be the AFL Commissions position, not the AFL’s.

Should Australian sport be raising its voice?

Yeah fair point……I think this maybe something coaches are working on. Still a good team to watch & right in the picture to go all the way.

AFL Round 10 power rankings: Bombers Dreamtime, West Coast not best Coast and Suns' drought goes on

They sure are in the prime position. The one thing that I can’t figure out with the Pies is that for such a hard rebounding, fast going forward side, they don’t kick the big scores. A good precentage but no where near Geelong or Brisbane.

AFL Round 10 power rankings: Bombers Dreamtime, West Coast not best Coast and Suns' drought goes on

Looks that way….bizarre.
