Rugby tragic. Coach. Hack. Scribe.

Not sure I agree about the Heartland angle but the Rebels had to go, and there needs to be a promo/relegation system.

Super Rugby's failure was letting Rebels exist for 14 pitiful years - one less also-ran is a blessing

Good article. I felt he is a club coach at best. Based on results I’m inclined to think the same way. But I like your angle about him staying involved. A good man by all accounts. I suspect RA is not forward thinking enough to create a role for him as you have suggested. But how about the Nationals 20s side? Especially if Grey goes back to the Tahs.

Darren Coleman may be done with the Tahs, but his passion could still be pure gold for the Wallabies

Yep. Good chat. Agree. A Goliath wouldn’t hurt though. Where is Lord, injured?

JD Kiwi – I quite like Sangster at a lock option. A good lineout forward and throws his body around. I felt like Darry went missing against the Canes. Interestingly we only have 1 NZ player in the top 10 lineouts won for individuals according to the Super website. https://super.rugby/superrugby/competition-stats//
We do have the top 3 teams in the %age won category but given we don’t select teams per se this probably has no carry over to the test squad.

Hey Patrick, thanks for the feedback. Appreciate it. However Deans was assistant coach of the ABs. Point taken on Rennie. But my point is Schmidt is operating in an environment that has been shown to be unfit for purpose and that as fans of rugby we should take that into consideration with our expectations. Agree with you that he is in control of what you have stated, but is that enough to be successful? History say not really, particularly with the Eddie Jones debacle that unfurled recently.

Joe Schmidt is the coaching mastermind that Australian Rugby needs, but is he enough with the game's structural issues?

Hey Billy, totally agree. Accurate data is hard to find in this space. I was speaking to the topic more broadly. But I concur with your thoughts. It would be an interesting topic to explore. Particularly with Crichton, Murray, and Suaili doing well. I know a former Tahs hooker who’s son was a decent union player but RA didn’t want a bar of him so he went to league. I believe he’s with the Rabbitohs now..

Great read. Hooper has tickets on himself too but he talks other journos down. I forget his name but the other journo from The Tele is good, Carayannis. Very understated and deferent but I enjoy his work.

Full of himself, prickly and easy to rile. Is there any point to NRL360 without Paul Kent?
