In all levels of cricket your captain leads from the front, this should be no difference. Clarke could be a massive difference maker if he bats at three, UK isnt a 3 batsmen. I thought Cowan could fill the gap but he is better suited to an opener role. Cmon lead from infornt Pup

Ashes: Australia's middle-order woes

I agree mate too right!!

Ashes: Australia's middle-order woes

Yes I agree but shouldnt the middle order be able to stand up and fight. The whole batting line up needs fixing, but, at the moment the main problem is with the middle order.

Ashes: Australia's middle-order woes

my XI for nest Ashes series

1.Ed Cowan
2.Phillip Hughes
3.Usman Khawaja
4. Joe Burns
5. Michael Clarke
6.Steve Smith
7.Brad Haddin
8.Ashton Agar
9.James Pattinson
10.Ryan Harris
11.Peter Siddle

Of course this side will only occur if certain situations dont occur in the current ashes series. Firstly any injuries to the selected players will of course cause changes. Cowan is the best opening batsman in Australia, in the sheer fact that he sees of the new ball. Ok i know he doesnt go on and gets down in the 40s alot it is still a good start to an innings and the middle order then has a job to do. Burns along with Doolan and Silk are next middle order batsmen who deserve a chance in the test team and 2013/14 will be the year of Burns. Quality young cricketer and will score runs. No Watson as in that side he doesnt serve a purpose, hes not the best opener and cant bowl many overs (plus questionable quality of overs) so not the best all rounder.

Groundhog day for Australia's batsmen

Quality player, major influence in the dragons 2010 premiership campaign. Will bring them experience and will dominate Super League footy. I believe however we will see him back on Australian soil sometime next year, for some reason Australian forwards havent always adapted to the sunny shores of the commonwealth.
