I can top your idea Rabbitz: Cage cricket!

“the final step in the evolution of cricket and completely remove teams. Six individual stars, in a plexiglass cube, where hits off different parts of the square result in different run totals. The bowler can score by getting someone out, as can the fielders. Losing your wicket costs you 40 runs. The game lasts 30 overs, and all six men get to bowl, field and bat”.

Actually it is not my idea it is a real thing thought up by Stuart Robertson (the bloke who came up with T20).
Here’s the website: http://www.cagecricket.com/

I found out about it in this awesome read from ESPN writer Wright Thompson: Test of Time. In Defence of a Game that lasts 5 Days.
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/eticket/story?page=111225%2Ftestcricket

My thoughts are anything but Test and Shield cricket is for stooges. But those forms are undermined by the shorter version and even Shield is undermined by Test cricket – imagine a boxing day Shield game Vic vs Any Australian state at the MCG!

But that will never happen because cricket always has and always will be run by fools. Only the hairstyles have changed.

I’ve thought of my own ways to change cricket but just like opinions so does everyone else. Cricket has too many flaws and if you want to tinker with all of them then why not just play baseball?

Time for a new cricket format

This ESPN article backs up your view Dave:

Messi the best? Not at home in Argentina

Or tally the amount of Adelaide fans of any sport that had a nice drink of water from the tap yesterday.

Where have Sydney's sporting fans gone?

T20 is for stooges.
How about you tally the amount of Sydney people who went to the beach yesterday vs people at Melbourne beaches.

Where have Sydney's sporting fans gone?

Do you know what the worst thing about AFL is TC and AR? The legions of dorks that religiously follow and preach about the game. Your kind are doing a disservice to your code of footy. What happens in Melbourne and AFL have nothing to do with Sydney, Rugby League, Union or Soccer. These codes have been decimated by greed and selfishness because they’re awesome. AFL does not have that problem.

A perfect mix of suburbia and modern day for maximum attendence success

Yeah that’s right AR. So how about you and your reach around buddies get on an AFL thread and off the other codes?

Rugby League must not do away with its suburban roots

Keep talking like that TC and you’ll go blind.

Manchester United coming down under and I don't care

Why are those grounds always packed then mate?

Rugby League must not do away with its suburban roots

So Christo, don’t you think that Souths not fielding a team with players that would only be reserve graders at other clubs have anything to with their crowd numbers? And speaking of Souths, I would much rather watch them at SFS or SCG (baring finals of course) and I’d bet they would get better attendances at those venues.
Sports is all about emotion. Tap into that and you get more money and fans in the long run.

Rugby League must not do away with its suburban roots

AFL fans are in the RU & RL threads as well.

Manchester United coming down under and I don't care

We’re going around in circles here Cazaly. Obviously if Collingwood has an average attendance of 60k then having games at their old suburban ground instead of the MCG (a traditional sporting mecca) would be stupid.
Rugby League doesn’t have that problem. The same people who are pushing the super stadiums are the same people who thought that booting Souths out of the competition would be a good idea.

Rugby League must not do away with its suburban roots

Don’t forget to pack an extra thick cardigan Mr Smith. You’re going to need it.

NRL coach Smith joins Brumbies

Oikee. Brisbane cannot be compared to Sydney because they only have one team. And answer this please – If Ipswich ever have an NRL side where would be the best place for them to play? Lang Park or a suburban ground that would also draw in surrounding country areas and be a great money spinner for local businesses and community (brand building in pony tail speak).

Rugby League must not do away with its suburban roots

Yes mate. But that is not the same problem that Rugby League has. More seats does not mean more fans for Rugby League games.

Rugby League must not do away with its suburban roots

The Neville index has reached extremely high levels.

The public are sick of the Quade debacle

Who are you to decide that it has been a good move? I don’t know anything about AFL so I just rang my mate Jimmy and he reckons that he and his whole tribe would much rather watch Collingwood at their old home ground than the MCG. And I would imagine there would be nostalgic heartache every time they don’t play there.
Super stadiums don’t create new fans. Tradition, family and culture does.

Rugby League must not do away with its suburban roots

No it’s not the same. Weird and obsessive AFL fans would turn up to watch their game if it was played in Outer Mongolia so let’s leave that phenomenon out of the debate.

Rugby League must not do away with its suburban roots

Good on you for writing this article mate. The pony tails of this world who want to discontinue using suburban grounds don’t go games weather they’re in a monolithic empty soulless stadium or a Leichardt oval so they wouldn’t know the difference.

Rugby League must not do away with its suburban roots

And the Australian media Quade Cooper obsession levels (the neville index) remain high to extreme.

The Deans dilemma and Cooper conundrum

I see what’s going on here. You’re embarrassed for being called out for crawling. Well that is a natural reaction so you know to rectify your behavior.
Get a haircut.

HOLMES A COURT: Why Russell was so good for Souths

Good read mate.
When John Madden was asked what the toughest thing in a professional football game was he said “It’s being the mother of the quarterback – toughest thing”.

The art of quarterbacking

I think you should change your name to Sand in your undies mate.

I’m a sports buff and history buff. I’m finding ABNuttas articles refreshing especially with all the negative news around at the moment.

Although I’m not an All Blacks fan I’ve always admired the Kiwis style of Rugby and have come across heaps of great documentaries on YouTube that you just don’t find with the Wobbalies.

I’ve put them in a playlist here if anyone is interested: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL542AE41C19BBF65F
