Just to the north is a good example on how to fix stuff, and just to the south is a good example on how to maintain it once it is fixed. Learn from the Reds and Brumbies.

Dempsey has already left mentally.

That extensive world wide search that managed to find a guy in the office next door still hurts…

Yep – good comments. I’m actually stoked with the quality of all our 10s at the moment and think Harrison is tracking really well considering. Nice depth overall in the backs.

The Wrap: Lineout issues tower over Super Rugby

Thanks Geoff great read! Just a minor side note – not sure I agree that Matt To’omua had a great game. He featured because of his kicking, and his kicking only featured because absolutely nothing was being created that made the Rebels look like scoring. He was excellent with half of his role, but failed as a play maker – the other half.

I’m yet to watch the other three games – will watch the blues game next – I think the blues will have a good year.

Bloody awesome article mate – thanks!

Coach's Corner issue 1: Can the Reds midfield step up for Australia?

Ha ha – thought about it, but probably best if we don’t explore that comment to deeply…

Tahs in a bit of a pickle after round 1 – but then again great opportunity to discover new talent. A few backs out – meh – the forwards are where the focus needs to be – primarily 4, 5, 6 and 8.

Tahs faced with long injury lay-offs for key players

“ NRC was about developing players and seeing them tested at a higher level by pooling the best players available into teams”

Depends how important pathways and player development is I guess. For me I really enjoyed the nrc and watching rugby at ballymore. I hope something similar returns. Let’s see how Tane Edmed develops I guess as Shute Shield product.

Is it time to reconsider dumping the National Rugby Championship?

Tizzano was more than a green shoot. Harrison was just not given much to work with at all.

Tops! 👍

I’m super-cited!

Not seeing the Tahs as being rudderless or easy-beats at all. I think it will be close. Happy to be wrong. Probably looking forward to Force v Brumbies more
– great to have the Force back. Tipped the Brums though.

Super Rugby AU Week 1: Back on like Donkey Kong

The Tahs are my dark horse. ‘Glad’ to be playing them round 1 as I think they will evolve into a tidy outfit this year. I haven’t been a Jake Gordon fan to date, but he looked very sharp in the trial – he will live up to the hype this year. Your 10 Will Harrison is class. You have depth as shown in the trial – just not name players – yet. HJH I rate and if the rest of the forwards work together – you’ll do well. Hoping you don’t click until round 2 though ….

Super Rugby AU Round 1 teams: Line-ups announced for competition kick-off

Perhaps we need to score more tries so our kicker gets more practice…

Australian rugby needs to kick goals in 2021

The trial loss to the Tahs suggests to me that squad depth for the Reds is a little light on. Now with Wright sidelined – I think chances of silverware are also pretty light on.

No real standout contenders to replace him as a player or captain – so fantastic opportunities for others in the squad to takeover from Wright. Let’s hope they really grab those opportunities!

Liam Wright and the Reds back row can be stronger for his injury

28-year-old?

Ankle injury sidelines Reds captain Wright

I’ve struggled a little with Gordon at times, but your 9 and 10 were the only guys on the field that looked sharp, the rest seemed pretty flat. Perhaps just hot and muggy conditions?

Top article and comments – thanks Nic and roarers !

Can Michael Hooper stay ahead of the pack in the race to 2023?

I’m finding the comments on the commentators fascinating and very insightful. Perhaps the panel should include a “guest roarer” each week.

Nine and Stan's rugby commentary team has finally been confirmed

Sterlo would be the only NRL commentator I would grab if required

No

Did the referee miss a punch to the face in Premiership Rugby match?

… obviously I would be aiming the koalas nipple height and below.

Thanks Geoff – another top article.

The Wrap: Clear heads required to negotiate rugby’s concussion minefield

I’ve a sack of Koalas ready to throw at him should he take the field against us.

…but I do hope he does well – can never have enough quality 10s!

The Wrap: Clear heads required to negotiate rugby’s concussion minefield

I’m stoked to see the Force ‘back’ – and if they show the heart displayed last year then I’ll be very surprised if they finish out of the top 3 given the talent bought in. Most likely my ‘second’ team this year – but will be watching all 5 teams pretty closely.

Also very much looking forward to the conversations post SRAU. You’d sometimes be forgiven in the past for thinking that ‘Super Rugby’ only contained Oz teams and ‘Derby’s with the coverage published by certain media outlets. 5 weeks of Oz v Kiwi teams following SRAU is going to be great!

Bulked-up Force aim to defy the doubters

Great article once again – thanks mate!
