Love rugby Likely to be objective about Aussie rugby Tend to be wary of AB tactics and agendas Cautious about Springbok chances Do not have enough time to want to know about any other teams

I thought the refs used in the 3 series down south was overall really good. Sense also prevailed in the deciders afa the head collisions were concerned. There was another incident in the SA v Wales game that got a yellow card.

ANALYSIS: Lacking belief and constrained by uncertainty, the All Blacks are suffering in the land of the long dark cloud

Never seen him play before, but looked like he has what it takes. I expect him to get a fair go in the second half.

England team: Eddie Jones makes three changes to starting lineup for third Test

It is hard to not acknowledge the fine players NZ has to offer and resist the temptation to have them on all at the same time. But basics are basics. They have to be the best player in their selected position first. If not, they should be on the bench or not be selected at all. A serious flaw in selection strategy. Coaching is a hell of a lot easier if players are picked in their natural positions if they have the ability to play to the game plan. Players can then be trusted so that the coach can then focus on coaching, not having to train them out of their individual frailties too. That is what assistant coaches are for. Selecting players out of position for the sake of having them all on the field at the same time is not sustainable and smacks of amateurism. It may work once or twice but their weaknesses will soon be exposed when playing against good teams and when it matters most. Questions should be asked of selectors maybe (not sure what role the coach plays in that?) I fear (in hope). Win or lose this weekend, a mindset change needs to be had.
The key makeshifts for me, just my opinion from what I have witnessed:
Scott Barrett is not a loose forward, he is a loose lock and walking red card waiting to happen.
Cane is maybe not the best in his position, seriously disturbing the composition and dynamics of the back row.
Ardie, bless him but he is not a number 8
B Barrett is not the best first-five, if you are going for a 5-3 bench, there is plenty of seats available for him
Rieko is not a natural centre and his talent is being wasted
And now they throw in T-S on top of it, wow.
How does this compare to the Irish way of selections? They have a pretty successful team albeit partly built with some no-hoping NZ discards.
All non-all black supporters must secretly be hoping nothing changes! Good luck to the AB’s for the weekend anyway.

All Blacks vs. Ireland: RTS named for debut, Havili to No.12, Scott Barrett back to flanker, Irish make one change

Yip. Accounting for a certain QF too, the most orchestrated of all the world cups so far.

End of an aura: Critics target Foster and 'an empire that's gone soft' after All Blacks 'lose fear factor'

Wobbly, I like your spirit. But after two losses, why would ego still be a problem?

Biltong, I am more inclined to worry about who the Pollard/Jantjies backup will be if things go south. It is really not uncommon to lose both your no. 1 and 2 close to the world cup, ask NZ. And neither are actually that special anyway IMO.

How much time will the two unlucky ones get against top tier nations in the next year or so. That would be the only way to see if they are really ready, why the wait? If the coaches do not want to risk them now, when would be the best time?

Christie gets first start, Cane returns for All Blacks vs USA

The point I am making is that there will always be the odd one out. Like a ref having an off day in the wrong place at the wrong time. I do not believe that any professional referee (emphasis on professional with ethics and such included) will intentionally manipulate proceedings to double dip. They should be qualified to take pride in applying an unbiased mental attitude under influence of whatever pressures or temptations they are put under.

So far so good. Touch wood, I have dodged them for 20 years

If you are thinking of making videos, why not practice on the 2011 RWC QF AU v RSA and final NZ v FRA and compare this with the Rassie one?

I will welcome a video to put things into perspective.

Agree with giving it to USA, will be exciting. But why do you think the game is dying, I assume you are meaning Australia.

As long as all is the same size LxW for every game including dead ball area, I would not mind. Could be interesting…

Neil, I agree with your comment about the Boks being undercooked. They were really in a disadvantaged position opposed to the BIL who had a number of hit outs before test 1. Based on my impressions during the series, I think the BIL were chasing cards too hard during the games and forgot to play somehow. This is underscored by their media rants such as Faf should have gotten a Red. Equally contributing to slowing the game down at their own peril.

I am not sure how good the ABs and Wallabies really are in contrast to the Boks and Pumas. This should become a bit clearer tonight…cannot wait to see what Quade brings.
