Maybe Super Rugby standard as a whole is dropping (which I believe it is). Either way a team sitting 5/12 in a competition doesn’t really deserve the “not worthy of the competition” tag. Especially given players and coaches change regularly so they’re not responsible for all the sins of the past 15 years.

It does seem that way. Although I get the sense he’s angling to do away with the Giteau Law as such and just give assurances that he will only pick overseas players if significantly better. I don’t think he’ll pick any from overseas this year but come Lions next year, with Slips having another year under his belt Sio could be a dark horse.
