Super Rugby Pacific Transfer Centre: EVERY squad CONFIRMED for 2023 season

Tony, have you heard anything about the brumbies signing Corey toole from Aus 7s team?

not really sure why they dont give Gleeson a go

AUS vs SA studs and duds: Coach or cattle behind Wallabies' troubling 'psyche' flaw, and what's up with Giteau Law pick?

RiS, the Wallabies were rubbish but thats surely a tongue in cheek comment. Hopeless refereeing can be unbiased

😂 I don’t recall BOK ever being good. Here is Nic Bishop’s analysis on BOK’s performance Brums vs Blues, he says it better than i can: https://www.theroar.com.au/2022/06/15/how-the-brumbies-lost-their-semi-final-state-of-origin-against-the-blues/
Could you pls provide a link to match where it was an enjoyable free-flowing spectacle?

Ben O’Keefe is a dud. He crucified the Brumbies and he helped ruin last nights game. Can you name 1 game BOK has ever referred that was a great spectacle and free-flowing? He opportunistically looks for technical penalties. It’s confusing, frustrating and everything the game doesn’t need.

Pickerill also opportunistically tries to weasel into the game. he will find benign consequential collisions and try and find fault. But out. The game isn’t about you and the fans don’t want your OTT interventions

Great article NB. In the same way that QC needs a big bodied SK to hand off to when under pressure, would HP be fit from an Esterhuizen at 12?

Coach's corner: Unravelling the Wallabies' lineout mess, and radical solution Springboks need before RWC

There is absolutely zero chance the wallabies can win with Okeefe reffing. Ref bashing has become far too commonplace but his performances this season have been well below standard

Have the brumbies signed Toole from the Aus 7s team?

Also love the Waratahs signing nadolo. This reminds me of when they won with taquele nayieavoro

Great article NB. I agree, RH has to be 15. Despite his errors in game 3 vs Eng he played well against SA. For all the occasional highlights a JP or TW give you, they will be offset by errors. Whereas RH gives you a boot you can constantly get pay out of either exiting your 22, threatening long range pen goals or with attacking kicks.

The concerning scrum prob needs TT dropped and FF benched. FF has many strengths but he is confrontational with refs. His lineout is an obv opp target. I guarantee If he stays in the team SA will target this

ANALYSIS: 'Improves everyone around him': What Reece Hodge did that makes him undroppable at 15

My understanding was he didn’t want “suits” directing them to speed up scrums due to fatigue of exertional scrums and the potential injury risk this would therefore create

Rugby News: Boks coach explains alpha move, Rennie's demand after disaster, RWC's Aussie rights deal secured

I don’t think AK’s comment is very considered. The combination of generous substitution rules, incessant TMO checks, opportunistic waterboys and gamesmanship by players generating breaks particularly when under defensive duress has insidiously infected our game with excessive stoppages. Players are gifted exorbitant breaks for a winter sport often played at night. Fatigue is part of the game. Fatigue strains defences and facilitates a spectacle through generation of try-scoring opportunities. In a crowded sport market, its an unfortunate but necessary reality that they bring in rules like a scrum clock because there’s no way the players will independently decline drinks breaks.

Great article Nick. Looking forward to your article next week on Foley? 😛

Coach's corner: The big question mark over Tupou leading into Boks series and how Richie led Foster to salvation

Watching that Argentine 12 (i think) score that try where he ran around JOC and JOC didn’t even touch him reminded me of the Jonah Lomu rugby Playstation game. There’s a character you can unlock called “mathers”. He’s knee high but quick as a flash. That’s the only other time i recall a back being pantsed like that

ANALYSIS: 'Kindergarten' lineout calls and the 'luxury' player Dave Rennie can't afford against Springboks

The Cardiff match day experience was the best one I’ve ever had anywhere in the world. inner city closed off to cars, all the pubs open, cheerful spirit, everyone in town excited, amazing stadium and “chip alley” to finish it all off

ANALYSIS: 'Kindergarten' lineout calls and the 'luxury' player Dave Rennie can't afford against Springboks

I agree Kellaway and Hodge are the standout options. NB, you don’t fancy Campbell? Another left field option if you’re looking for someone good under the high ball is Vunivalu although positionally he could get exposed badly

ANALYSIS: 'Kindergarten' lineout calls and the 'luxury' player Dave Rennie can't afford against Springboks

Great article Nick. Would you consider playing Arnold with Phillip and throwing Arnold more ball? Concerningly, not utilising our players strengths is a broader conversation than Arnold. I was a big DR fan initially but I’m struggling to see progress in his tenure.

ANALYSIS: 'Kindergarten' lineout calls and the 'luxury' player Dave Rennie can't afford against Springboks

Thx Brett, I hope you’re right. However isn’t this exactly how QC got picked. He was brought in informally to provide mentorship and next minute he’s wearing 10

Wallabies losses like San Juan help build the case against Dave Rennie

One of my biggest concerns with DR is that i can’t work out his strategy. The attacking DNA of Ireland was very clear. Conversely, the Wallabies look like they haven’t trained together sometimes.

Rennie bemoans cohesion. Although many of his changes have been injury forced, he has also been responsible for a lot of changes. I’d argue there’s no more important position than 10. Last season he constantly changed. This year Rennie selected NL, then back to QC and then JOC. Anyone sure who it will be next week? He’s even drafted Foley into the squad FFS!

The Wallabies intense training resulted in injuries to a team that is already so injury deplete

Reds, sadly this only further highlights my point. It’s crucial for the 8 to be able to break the gainline and he couldnt. England 8, Billy Vunipola was instrumental at this. Also, his number doesnt change the fact he gave away countless penalties and struggled with his cleanout

REACTION: 'Masterclass,' 'perfect game plan, perfectly executed' - Cheika sticks the boot into bewildered Wallabies

TJ, RA had no leverage. SK took advantage of their weak bargaining position. DR is trying to build relationships and overruling SK would have made things very messy

Aus vs Arg studs and duds: 'Outright calamity' - part-time No.15 fails basics, TT dominated, Rennie feels heat

I’m a bit disappointed with Kerevi. At a time when RA is desperate to win back the fans and appeal to PE, they need wins now more than ever. He is arguably our most influential player. Last year SK chose his Japanese contract over RA. Without knowing the details, I can cop that. However this year he turned his back on RA again. He tried to parachute in Jarryd Hayne-style to get a Com Games medal. I’ve watched the 7’s this year and in my opinion there were players that earned their place in that team over SK. They came 4th and simply were outplayed by the Blitzboks in the semi. The Aussie 7’s are a great team who’ve had a lot of success this year. I’m not convinced he did or would’ve made a difference to the 7’s team. The risk of his gambit in a collision sport was injury. Unfortunately and with hindsight this happened. This was always a possible outcome! The Wallabies have lost some games, the fans are disappointed, who knows what this has done with our fledgling relationship with Japanese clubs returning both QC and SK injured. Now I’m not saying it’s all SK’s fault nor am i calling for a pile-on but as a loyal fan this is disappointing.

If the Wallabies were being filmed in an Amazon Prime Doco, now would the time they’d show montages of a stressed Rennie focusing on his greying hair with this song playing over the top https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEqhS80_MCI (Time is Running out by Apollo 440)
