oversaw the decline of standard of play by australian players that resulted in sandpaper gate…before that all we ever heard about was how our players pushed the line but never crossed it…
he sold tv rights to pay tv proving the adage he knows the price of everything but the value of nothing.
he has overseen a major slump in participation numbers…even though he was caught lying about it.

NRL to decide season length on Friday

v’landys will go down in history in the same tomb as judy patching, john coates, james sutherland, david gallop and arthur tunstall, …. all remebered as either greedy, selfish or incompetent

NRL to decide season length on Friday

Ten 'you had to be there' moments in Australian sport

that effort by poo is the most underrated moment in the history of aust sport… the crowd were screaming every point…. just remarkable but not known bc it was on at 2 in the morning

Ten 'you had to be there' moments in Australian sport

what a great article…very entertaining… if you going to do an article on enigmas of world cricket wood and sargeant would be in it..

Fourth-innings chases: The best of the 1970s

i think greg matthews might have played too

The best players who never played Test cricket for Australia

simon davis, dave gilbert, simon odonnell and ray bright was our attack in a test in nz in 1985…has there ever been a worse attack ever? anywhere?

The best players who never played Test cricket for Australia

fantastic article.many nails hit on the head…. one problem not mentioned is the price of equipment…very expensive game for a family of more than one player

The disconnect tugging at Sydney cricket's grassroots

Healy is the most over rated cricket Australia has produced. He was just a gloveman..lets not forget his keeping cost Australia two tests,
“with just three runs needed to win the game in the 1994 Test in Karachi. Big Inzy swung and missed and, unfortunately, so did Heals. Four byes resulted and the Test was lost.”

“with seven runs needed and the West Indies eight down, Australia’s get out of jail card appeared to have arrived when Lara guided one straight to Healy’s left mitt. The leaden-footed version merely palmed it to the floor.”

Added to this his role in Australia’s disgraceful behaviour as a team through the 90’s and beyond and one can see why he is over rated.

Admittedly his batting did improve over his career but lets face it, if we are talking batting keepers then Gilchrist leaves him for dead.

Pick The Roar's greatest Ashes XI of all time: Adam Gilchrist vs Ian Healy

walking is not a sport, it is a pastime so i dont think anyone really cares about that. My biggest anguish was the Border Thompson partnership at the MCG in 82/83 … as a kid i was devastated and it is not any easier knowing that Botham took the winning catch.

Ten gut-wrenching moments in Australian sport

i agree with you, they are leaders who put community welfare and spirit over a game played by overpaid bogans administered by over paid bogans commentated on by overpaid bogans.

"We're not going to see the State of Origin this year": Queensland Premier

from memory that was emerson at adelaide…but that was cringeworthy

The ten most cringe-worthy moments in Australian sport

i dont believe anyone has ever bowled quicker than wasim did in the world cup final…the keeper was on the circle.plus his abilty to come around the wicket and bowl away swing to right hsnders was amazing.

Sharma to Ponting in Perth and Flintoff to Ponting in 2005 were perhaps two of the best overs i have ever seen bowled in test cricket.

Overseas fast bowlers I could watch all day

from trump i think?

No special treatment for NRL: Morrison

great article..very entertaining.did i remember mosin khan making 150 on the opening day at the mcg in 1983? one of the great innings

Cricket's unlikely heroes

he won the toss in adelaide and sent australia in…. he was no captain

Why Steve Smith should be the next Australian captain

good call…and those tests against the west windies were constant.

Pick The Roar's greatest Ashes XI of all time: Steve Smith vs Allan Border

Great article…very enjoyable…hard not to see that atrack winning every game.
