Maybe not as dead and buried as we all thought, really great to see

All eyes on the skies as Labuschagne ton, Manchester rain gives Aussies a shot at great escape

But will they be able to use the fast bowlers with the new ball?

I don’t think you can always expect to win by waiting for your opposition to make a mistake. Australia did that to a large extent in the first two tests, but the mistakes have dried up and the outcome is that Australia doesn’t have a backup strategy. They don’t seem able to make things happen like England have.
Lets be honest too, England have really dictating this series, no matter what the score says. I’m not suggesting Australia fights fire with fire, but maybe they need to walk away from the fighting fire with water strategy somewhat, fire with boiling water perhaps?

Credit to England, far too good the first two days.

We have won 0 series in England since 2001, we have won 0 series in India since 2004.
Great, so lets just start throwing a whole heap of players in that have not played first class cricket in 2 years, its clearly a flawless strategy that will pay off with hundreds and bags of wickets. I don’t really understand why more teams don’t do it!
It just doesn’t happen much, so you can’t rely on guys coming in completely cold to a test series and expecting instant results. Marsh did an amazing job, but no one in their right mind would have expected him to perform like that. I just think the selectors have backed themselves into a corner with Warner, it’s unfair to expect someone to come in now and do a job.

Warner, Head or Harris to open, Green vs Marsh, Boland or Hazlewood, Murphy worthy? Aussies facing selection dilemmas

Yes I’m serious Nick. You are cherry picking which circumstance suits your argument. Our record in England over the last 20 years isn’t much better than India.

Feel like you are drawing a long bow here, I’m only concerned that a guy that hasn’t played a first class game in 2 months isn’t going to be sharp enough to come into such a pressure cooker match. I also don’t believe Warner has been bad enough in this series to deserve to be dropped.

I don’t think Warner should have even been selected for the tour to begin with, but the selectors have made their bed. They clearly want Warner to warm that place until Pucovski is right to begin/resume his career. Its riddled with fault, and its crazy that he has been given such an extended run considering his form, not to mention that the team looked infinitely better when he wasn’t in the team over in India.

Once again Nick, I am truly sorry I have a different opinion to you, it seems you take this personally and that is not my intention.

Fair point Nick, although you could point to the selectors giving Renshaw a run in India as a counter point to Marsh.

Retain Marsh at 5 and he can take on that role?
Having said that, Warner has not been as bad as suggested in this series, and feel he will retain his place. The cupboard is bare and its not as if someone is knocking the door down to take his spot.

Lots of hysteria on here this morning, calling for a total rejig of a side that may still go up 3-0 in an overseas ashes series. It’s almost as if we have all accepted defeat after 5 overs!

This is far from over, there will be a wobble and a chance, we have shown the ability over the first two matches to win the big moments, so why the panic?

If you think that is crazy talk, I saw someone suggesting Marsh should be opening

Head's heroic half-ton gives Aussies fighting chance as England quicks make hay in seam-bowling heaven

Boland bowled brilliantly in the first innings, with absolutely no luck, would not surprise me to see him bag a few tonight

Seems like NSW gives away their games, but Queensland always retains their two no matter what.

No drama with Queensland not giving away a game, my issue is NSW giving away their game!

The excitement is gone - State of Origin is a damp squib

Exactly, and what is the best way to deal with a dummy spit? From my experience with two children under the age of 7, walk away and allow them to wear themselves out, it’s not a time to be teaching them a lesson.

The grade cricketer called it a national tantrum, and that could well be the best explanation around

Yeah fair enough, I see what you are saying

COMMENT: Cummins failed the moral test and tarnished these Ashes. He had the chance to be a legend and blew it

Of course he was, and he did.

But what if England benefited from a wayward shy at the stumps, would there have been an uproar on the spirit of cricket?

COMMENT: Cummins failed the moral test and tarnished these Ashes. He had the chance to be a legend and blew it

If that ball missed the stumps and went to a vacant part of the field, do you think that Stokes & Bairstow would have taken a quick single?

It hit Haddin’s gloves and went to Clarke at first slip, checked it last night after being told on here I got it wrong

UK View: 'He didn't look like a leader. He looked pathetic' - Cummins caned but Poms also skewer 'dozy' Bairstow

I think I was called dense for arguing for it to be not out, which was not very nice for expressing an opinion based on fact…

‘It’s winning the series that will be remembered. We do have a win-at-all-costs mentality. I think we’re quite an unpleasant team to play against at the moment. Teams won’t play against us and enjoy the experience. That’s what we want’

Guess who?

I saw him referred to as a poor mans James Graham on Betoota today and believe it may be on the of the best takes going around on day of amazing takes

UK View: 'He didn't look like a leader. He looked pathetic' - Cummins caned but Poms also skewer 'dozy' Bairstow

That’s a huge shame, as it was such an impressive win for Australia. With the conditions, toss and injuries stacked against them, they still pushed through and won.

To his credit McCullum did back down from his actions, but he should know what happens in the heat of the battle more than anyone. His comments were ordinary.

That Ollie Pope/Grandhomme dismissal is such a storm in a tea cup, the more I see it the more I think it was absolute fair game

And who can blame him, this is all madness, I’m pretty much done with rugby league this season
