Thoroughly enjoyable article and several interesting points that I had forgotten, thanks. This is the era that I started really getting into the NSWRL, so will always hold it in very high regard and affection. The 90s though was the high water mark for rugby league for me though, notwithstanding the SL war.
One question though, did Sterlo say “If we freeze it right there… and as play continues?”

I find it interesting that a lot of pundits think Turbo is our best player and that we’d be lost without him, despite Garrick being a very capable deputy. I actually have nightmares about DCE going down. He is clearly our best player and has been for some time. He just deserves a better team around him.

This Manly performance is reminiscent of the dark days of the Northern Eagles. 10 minutes of commitment and 70 of mediocrity. They just don’t look like a well coached team, and are short on outside backs. Good on the Titans and Keiran Foran. Still hurts seeing him run out for the opposition!

Excellent analysis, Mike. I think though that if Manly tighten up their defence around the ruck and improve their discipline, they’ll be a handful for Penrith next week. If they don’t, you are right- the Panthers will win by 30.

So not only a better performance from Turbo but a much more cohesive effort from our boys in both attack and defence. Very pleased by the result and the effort shown.
