Seibold is still looking for a gig 🙂

Seven talking points from NRL Round 17

Is it just me or does that photo of Todd make him look like a super villain??

Maybe that’s just what the Cowboys need. Time to set up the volcano lair in Castle Hill.

Payten officially unveiled as Cowboys coach

He deserved a sendoff for the haircut alone.

I have no issues with this at all, that was just a stupid action. Obviously Chad didn’t feel like playing for the rest of the season.

Extraordinary scenes as Townsend obliterates Ponga... then gets sent off!

I feel the same.

If anything SOO should be the trials for selection for the Australian team, in much the same way City v Country used to be for the NSW team. Instead it’s lauded as the pinnacle which has never sat well with me.

The best rugby league players don’t have to play State of Origin

He was an absolute star for the mighty Sharks, I thought we had a really good young gun there.

Such a shame he went this way. He was bragging about how he found extra speed over the break as well, turns out it doesn’t count though mate, ask Ben Johnson.

I’m not sure how long the ban will be but I would be surprised if we saw him again. It’s a tough enough business to break into the first time, let alone in your mid twenties with a record.

Xerri's career in doubt after positive B-sample

The big problem with Moses is that he is a great front runner. Once things don’t go to plan he tends to go missing.

Timing is everything as Parramatta's premiership campaign goes up in smoke

Ideally you need new management who are not Broncos supporters. People who will do what is best for the club without bringing all the baggage and who will ignore the “old boys” who like to think they still have a say.

Anthony Seibold's departure won't cut out the cancer at Brisbane

Time to bring back the good old Captain/Coach principle.

Darius, you’re up.

Seibold confirms Broncos exit

I agree it is far more complex than that, most things are. But it’s a bit unfair to link the two together for this season just to sling mud at an under-performing coach (and team, let’s be honest).
Good on you for being a shareholder though. It looks to have been in a bit of a decline from mid 2018 on the charts. That’s about the time Wayne started throwing BBQ’s wasn’t it??

Awakening the sleeping giant: Why the Broncos coming last is bad news for every other NRL team

A lot has been said about the drop in the share price in relation to this, but the two are not necessarily linked.

Share price is linked to business performance, and the Broncos, like everyone else, is way down on revenue through the COVID period. It’s little wonder their share price has fallen, so has their revenue, and so has everyone else’s share price. Nobody is pointing at Coca Cola and banging on abut how poor their performance has been this year, no wonder their share price stinks. Everyone recognises the share market has fallen due to sharp drops in revenue.

Shares are a reflection of current and future earnings for the business, not a direct reflection of the state of the team. Now if the team performs poorly for an extended period, and sponsors and fans abandon them in droves, that does have an impact on profitability and will drop the price. This is not that…….yet, and would not be fully apparent until there is a re-opening of restrictions and another couple of years worth of regular trading to sort out the impact.

People are using the share price as some kind of McGuffin to push their own agendas. Even if the Broncos were winning every week, their share price would still look the same.

Awakening the sleeping giant: Why the Broncos coming last is bad news for every other NRL team

I am genuinely surprised it took this long.

I’m not sure how he won coach of the year in 2018, but whatever he was doing it certainly wasn’t effective in Brisbane. His whole plan seemed to be to keep speaking positive no matter how inept the performance and things will turn around.

Bringing in Walters would be a mistake. Having someone who bleeds everything Brisbane will in no way be as effective as bringing in someone who can actually coach.

I hear Mary is looking for work 😛

Reports: Seibold set to quit Broncos

It depends on how you look at it.

If your salary was $400,000 (as indicated in the article) then technically you are not getting paid less for being injured, you are not earning to your potential because of the injury in that you are not able to collect match payments.

It would certainly make it a pretty grey area.

Simpler solutions for the NRL salary cap, recruitment and contracts

SJ is certainly not covering himself in glory over this whole thing.

Proctor, Johnson face NRL review over biting incident

For $300,000 per year.
Tax = $108,097
Agent (10%) = $30,000
Take Home = $161,903
F/N = $6,227.04

Subtract bills, mortgage / rent, food, car insurance etc and suddenly a $6,500 fine is a pretty big deal.

Broncos hit with massive fine for pub lunch

Where is the face slapping emoji, they really need to add a face slapping emoji.

The fact these two clowns thought they could put their heads together and get Proctor off a biting charge is not a good look for the game or the judiciary. They need to make an example of them or lose what little remaining credibility they have.

At least they didn’t fall for it I suppose. The four week ban seems pretty fair. On a scale of Suarez to Tyson he is definitely below Suarez, but only because he had a mouthguard in.

😂 😂 😂 😂

Proctor to challenge bite charge

First things first. If I was going to be having a dig at Brent Naden for anything it wouldn’t be because of his race but rather that awful mustache he was getting around with.

For these idiots, how about a $5,000, 10 match ban for spectating and they have to clean the venue after every game for a year. Hopefully they are just idiots and not die in the wool racists as that is very hard to change.

I like the ideas about cultural awareness training but in reality it would probably achieve very little, and which cultures do you cover, all of them?? There is a lot to take in for that course.

Take away their time and money and they will learn pretty quick, or not.

How should the NRL punish racial abuse?

I have never claimed any experience with biting, where did you get that from?

My experience is in crowd control, something I have had to do more often than I would like. Generally the holds I know avoid the mouth, specifically so I can’t get bitten. However I do know if you get it wrong the only thing opening that mouth is the person behind it, not me.

Extraordinary scenes as Kevin Proctor sent off after appearing to BITE Shaun Johnson

Well well well.

He was clearly bitten, and clearly reacted. To now withdraw all that means he was either lying then or lying now. My guess is the latter but I am on the “he clearly bit him” side of the debate.

I don’t think providing false statements to the judiciary is the way to go, saying nothing is his only real option. Otherwise you are right, he is painting himself as someone who accused another player of foul play that resulted in a sendoff.

If SJ lied on the day, then SJ needs to be brought up for besmirching the good name of another player and obtaining an unfair advantage through deception. Charge him and let him know he will have 6 weeks on the sideline himself if found to be true.

Let’s see what his statement is after that.

Proctor to challenge bite charge

With our judiciary I don’t even think you really need a good lawyer. A mediocre one should be enough.

What he needs is to get Billy Slater to teach him his best “little scamp” look. That seemed to work a treat.

It’s all good Paul.

The problem with internet debating is that how it’s perceived is all in how you read it. My response to you was not meant as an attack in any way, nor are my responses to anyone really. I type the way I speak but generally it’s with a smirk.

At the end of the day it matters little what we all think. I saw it as a clear bite, that started just after he hit the ground with a couple of attempts, others like yourself see it differently. I’m pretty sure anything I put in here will not be submitted at his hearing so it’s all shouting into the void really. It will be an interesting judiciary decision anyway. Is anyone taking bets, when does he go up?

If we all agreed Paul it would be an extremely boring world, debates are great so long as they are done in the right manner. Have a happy Monday

Did Tyson still have his guard in when he gnawed off Hollyfields ear??

Eight talking points from NRL Round 14

Yes I played league and union. I’ve never been in a situation where biting becomes a natural reaction, ever. These are all weak excuses in my book.

At least you admitted to biting instead of making up lame excuses.

Extraordinary scenes as Kevin Proctor sent off after appearing to BITE Shaun Johnson

I would respectfully disagree.

It’s going to be an interesting judiciary.

I equally have a lot of experience in this, and in the time taken believe it to be a very unlikely scenario.
