Hastings comes is with a swinging arm to head of Reed who was flat on the ground tackled in the 1st 10 mins – penalty but nothing further. Tracey goes shoulder to shoulder on a 50/50 ball and its 10 in the bin. This garbage about being past the ball – maybe the bunker should have a look at the replay.

Great effort by the Dogs but seriously – week in and week out we are screwed by the refs and the bunker.

Fired-up Dogs overcome Foxx injury for well-deserved win as anaemic Knights hit new low for attacking ineptitude

Section 14.1. A player is offside if he has one foot (either on or off the ground) in front of a teammate who ‘last touches, is touched, held or kicked the ball’.

NRL 2020 rules from their website.

U could also make an argument that JAC wasn’t in contact with the ball when he touched the side line in the 1st half. But that didn’t even make it to the bunker.

TBF – I’m happy to axe the bunker completely and go with onfield decisions like the old days. But you got to get touchies etc. to actually make decisions. If you got a bunker, at least get them to get it right. Sort of over the Annesleys apology sessions on Mondays.

Raiders reduced to 11 but rally to run down Dogs to celebrate Ricky's contract extension in style

U made me double check and fair play – 2m was probably a bit much. But you’re wrong too – the rule is not the ball, the rule is in front of the guy who last touched the ball. And whomever kicked it kicked it at 45d not out in front. Which should make your point easier but did the same as you, still in front.

Regardless, you think the bunker checked this since we’re freeze framing to check? Nah.

Raiders reduced to 11 but rally to run down Dogs to celebrate Ricky's contract extension in style

Not complaining about the result – coz at the end of the day Dogs didn’t deserve it. But that first Savage try….

Savage is 2m in front of the kicker so offside. When Tracey fumbles it, by the rules, he is not onside until Tracey has not ‘retained possession’ which by the rules is when the ball hits the ground (in this instance). Savage basically grabbed that on a half volley. So he was offside when he picked up the ball.

Thats the rule. So why exactly do we have a bunker again?

Well maybe. But what about the big units that are super tough when it comes to guys half their size but amazingly pull their heads in when fronted with someone their own size. Inglis and Mitchell come front of mind in that crew.

Say what you want about Ennis but at least he was a universal pest.

Mug lairs, thugs, grubs, nigglers and smug buggers - who are the players you really love to hate?

Fun Ennis fact. Was coaching my kid at some local cricket nets and he walked down with his son to practice. We were finishing up, his kid was very young and my son and I offered to give him some tips and worked with him for 30 mins or so. Never thought much of it. Fast forward 3 years, grabbing some lunch at Jannali and Ennis is walking across the road. Sees me, crosses over and offers me a coffee to say thanks for that day and talk about our kids and their cricket. Could have kept walking and wouldn’t have thought twice about it. Thought it was a very nice touch.

Bad hazing used to occur every day in the military, until it didn’t.

It happens every day is the crappiest argument ever. Not my place to say it should happen, but the ‘everyone does it’ argument just doesn’t cut it.

Disclaimer – Dogs fan.

NRL News: 'Happens every day' - Anasta defends Dogs as $4M lawsuit looms over former player's training punishment

Disclaimer. Dogs supporter.

Coroner looked very hard and found Tittmuss had an underlying health condition (aorta thickening I think) which may have added to the incident. I believe it was 24C at the time of training so doing the pre-season hard yards at that temp wasn’t unusual. The q became whether the Seagles should have known about the condition and the answer ended up being no.

Have the view to let the courts sort it. Don’t think anyone has enough deets to make any sort of judgement at this stage.

NRL News: 'Happens every day' - Anasta defends Dogs as $4M lawsuit looms over former player's training punishment

Topine being shopped to other clubs per his manager was an auto generated email from his contract system as he is off contract after this year. True or not – who knows. But if we’re taking ‘anonymous sources’ from both sides as gospel, best to put it all on the table.

Topine vs Bulldogs an important case for NRL and players - wrestling punishment shouldn't be tolerated in a 'workplace'

Originally in the 1980’s when they started it was mainly around trying to create certainty in employment, in particular for bowlers who could break down and not earn any coin. Obviously pre T20 and the idea that players could run off and become T20 nomads.

Looking at it now, there’s an argument that with T20 money on offer, it could be a great incentive for players, in particular bats, to focus more on the longform skills. But no.

So tbh – no idea what its meant to do these days. Top players earn more coin from IPL and sponsorships than they do from CA. Long form cricketers are not getting the T20 largesse and apparently not getting the CA coin either. Any wonder just about every NSW kid playing in the Aus U19s team is eyeing T20 as opposed to long form. Cannot talk to the other states but suspect its no different.

Forgotten opener, WA veterans snubbed in central contract shake-up as CA name 23-player list

Yeah – fair play. But the same principle applies. Since when is canning a series against the men going to change any outcomes for women?

Did the mens team support the disbanding? The ACB made it clear they are doing their best to get them reinstated. The IOC negotiated with the Taliban and women represented Afghanistan in the asian games in late 2023.

All lovely motherhood statements but at the end of the day, does nothing for the sport. This is more about making us supposedly feel good but does nothing to influence real change.

'Succumbing to political influences': Afghanistan rips into Cricket Australia after abandoning tour

“The whole point is that there is no opp. for Afghani women to play Australia”. Ah yeah – because we cancelled the series. Top draw logic that.

No issues with someone coming at aggressively. Just try to have some level of common sense to back it up.

'Succumbing to political influences': Afghanistan rips into Cricket Australia after abandoning tour

So a talented young Afghan girl who devoted her life to her sport (and I suspect in Afghanistan that means a little more than in Oz), gets to the top by working hard, sees that her team is playing the Australians and finally realises her dreams of being and playing the best. And it gets nixed because her Govt, which she probably never voted for, treats other women like crap and apparently CA bailing the series is going to change something in Afghanistan.

Don’t think politics and sports should mix at all but just imagine if the Afghani girls beat Australia. It’d probably do more for the welfare of Afghani girls than this BS from CA.

'Succumbing to political influences': Afghanistan rips into Cricket Australia after abandoning tour

Was a good thing. Unfortunately, being ‘alert’ has been abused to the point where its become its own little cottage industry. Cancel culture etc etc. Bit OT but my new fave is the Sam Kerr defence where racism only occurs when its against a minority. You cannot be racist against a majority. Go figure.

And I’m fairly sure anyone that does operate in this space does not like the term. Based on what i was called out for and the way in which I was called out, I’m comfortable my application was on point.

Test Mortem: Epic comeback win but cracks remain in line-up, Shield form has to count for something, Pat should bat higher

Oh brother. I’m framing this – gold stuff. I posted the original comment, you came in and disagreed with, nothing. You then went woke. Its magic.

Oh – magnificent performance. I prefer to go with – crap batting. And guess what – reckon on recent form I’m in a much better place than you. You did actually ready this article didn’t you? Its all about, crap batting.

And whatever garbage excuses you make – you called me a troll behind my back. Its as crappy as Heads defence wokeboy. Man up next time. As I said b4 – you can be better.

Test Mortem: Epic comeback win but cracks remain in line-up, Shield form has to count for something, Pat should bat higher

So your calling me a troll on another comment line. At least man up and go for me here – not going anywhere.
He was a rook and destroyed our so called vaunted batting lineup. Could have been a chicken farmer ffs – shout out to Eddo – and I would have said the same. Its a reality mate. Deal with it.
So no matter what bs you want to spin, the supposed #1 test team is being held together by a top notch bowling lineup. We have batters out of position, batters due for a pension and batters that have no idea how to do anything other than have a swing. You can polish a turd but guess what, its still a turd.
Actually, I’m out on this – I posted what I thought and you provided nothing to counter my argument except outrage. As I said b4 – let the crew decide. Easier then dealing with KW….

Test Mortem: Epic comeback win but cracks remain in line-up, Shield form has to count for something, Pat should bat higher

Touche my man. And to be frank, you are the one that inferred I denigrated the guy when all I pointed out was his background. Don’t pull the woke card too many times but congrats – you earned it.

Test Mortem: Epic comeback win but cracks remain in line-up, Shield form has to count for something, Pat should bat higher

So I’m guessing during the telecast you turned it off the first time the commentators said he was a security guard? Sure you did – standards and all. On that basis, you obviously didn’t see much of the series as that was about 10 mins into the WI bowling.

Fair play to Joseph. Kid got a chance and made the most of it. Plenty of other kids have been given a chance. And most discover the batting teaches them some life lessons. But, if the batting is really crap, then guess what. Miracles can happen. Go figure.

U got anything else bro – this faux outrage is just plain woke. Hoping you can be better.

Test Mortem: Epic comeback win but cracks remain in line-up, Shield form has to count for something, Pat should bat higher

Reckon I know that, spoke to him about it. You quoted they were banned not me. Now if you quoting and then correcting yourself to prove whatever, spamming my man. Coz your point shifts to whatever you think will win.

And ftr – the NZ series. You know the one you are commenting on. 👍

Test Mortem: Epic comeback win but cracks remain in line-up, Shield form has to count for something, Pat should bat higher

Yep – watched it all. And watched our supposed awesome batting order get done over by a rook. At home. At the Gabba fortress. 😂

2nd time its the man and not the ball. This the way you roll eh?

Test Mortem: Epic comeback win but cracks remain in line-up, Shield form has to count for something, Pat should bat higher

Spamming now right? Did you actually watch the series?

And, per you, thought Smith was banned in 2019 and yet, he saved the series in 2019 when he miraculously wasn’t banned. Go figure. 😂 😂

Sure mate.

Test Mortem: Epic comeback win but cracks remain in line-up, Shield form has to count for something, Pat should bat higher

So how about late 2019 when we wiped the floor with the kiwis in Oz? With their #1 bowling line up as well at the time. For example, they didn’t have the wickie bowling spin back then. Go figure.

As for catches. Green got grassed early twice and without his 170 that test is gone. Marnus got grassed twice early and we won by 3 wickets? Add in Marsh and this isn’t really a question.

Sure mate.

Test Mortem: Epic comeback win but cracks remain in line-up, Shield form has to count for something, Pat should bat higher

Oh – you mean our batting got beaten by a security guard with a grand total of 10 months of 1st grade cricket experience? That makes our batting so much better. 😂 😂

Test Mortem: Epic comeback win but cracks remain in line-up, Shield form has to count for something, Pat should bat higher

Except… we lost a test against the #7 ranked test team at home with this batting lineup. And if the kiwis held their catches, we would have lost both these tests as well. Against the kiwis 2nd string bowling lineup.

You can say, yes we won. But we won just against teams we would have rolled 5 years ago. And those teams haven’t really gotten better.

Test Mortem: Epic comeback win but cracks remain in line-up, Shield form has to count for something, Pat should bat higher

Its cool bro but thanks for the stepping up. He must work for sportsmatik or one of the other licensees of the tech. Gotta defend your patch. Haters gotta hate.

We only got the tech because the TV stations used it first to slam umps so they had no choice. Would be ok if it was perfect but has been shown time and again its not. Wasn’t Cummins caught behind recently by snicko on a ball he missed by an inch? Lol.

Spirit of cricket rule #1 – respect the umpires decision. Now with DRS we don’t have to. 99.999% of cricketers happily enjoy playing without it but cannot live without it at first class level? And even then, we only get it when the game being played can afford it.

Anyone who has played at a decent level in any sport that has it thinks its a joke and that its only value is to exploit it. If you think differently, maybe train harder? Lol.
