It is the future as the NRL gets more sensitive to the real issue of brain injury. The HIA will get harder to pass so less players get back onto the field and therefore less players on the bench.
NRL brings in watered-down concussion substitute
Didn’t take the roosters long to get Suaalii onto the field! Forget all that BS about slow and gentle, and he would just be training with the big boys, now he will be playing with the big boys.
NRL Round 4 teams: Injury-hit Roosters name Suaalii... in reserves
I agree with the 7 man bench. I predict that it will not be too long before a team has to finish a game with less than 13 on the field due to injuries and HIA’s. Needs a fix now.
Injuries are hurting the game
Yep. Simonsson is currently the weakest link in the backs at the moment. Workrate is not high, prone to mistakes, gets bumped off, and goes missing.
NRL Round 3 teams: Croker back for Raiders, still no changes for Brisbane
Re Raiders: Croker and Scott had better play well in the centers as Kris was very impressive.

100% agree on the lack of calling of the reason for the 6 again. I also think the refs have a tendency to award 6 again in the early part of a set as its less controversial than later in the set.
Six more! Sure... but what for?
My observation from these two weeks. Some teams have learnt how to crawl to gain a few metres and put the defense on the back foot.
Eight talking points from NRL Round 2
“I have heard of it but haven’t read it” That is my defense and I will stand by it.
Are the NRL sure that they are ok with young Suaalii mixing with the likes of Rudolf?
As good as The Rugby League Project a searchable database would be easier but that costs money.

I don’t know if I trust the impartiality or academic rigor of a Fox 360 “journo”.
Given that to be in that group of early starters you have to been seen a something special in the first place I would suggest that failure or injury would be even more traumatic.
Are the NRL sure that they are ok with young Suaalii mixing with the likes of Rudolf?
Perhaps someone could research a list of all the players who debuted before they were 18, then instead of relying on the reminisces of a couple of great players who had success, we could see the many who did not.

Nice list AJ. My one and only wish is for Ray Warren to retire. Please Please Please PLEASE. I can not watch many great games of the past simply because Ray Warren is “commentating”. 5 years too long in the job.
My 2021 NRL wish list
What a joke, penalty if that. One camera angle, deep serious voice-over, no vision of the ‘first offense’. The Roar is really chasing clicks now. Rubbish.
Corey Horsburgh in hot water after being reported TWICE in trial games
Seriously, footballers the money they earn and the stupid things they do. His hamstring could limit him to just the one good year past with the rest of his career being injury prone if he keeps doing stupid things.
Tom Trbojevic explains embarrassing injury
I like golden point. I like watching draws being decided by golden point. Golden point is here to stay, get used to it. Sit back and enjoy it. And remember if at the end of golden point the score is level it is a DRAW. So just watch golden point hoping and barracking for no points and you will be happy as you will get your DRAW. Peace.
Players 'deflated' as golden point-less All Stars match ends in anticlimax
Sorry but I didn’t see you playing in the game and then jumping around with joy at a draw. Did you even watch the game or are you just a die hard draw fan, no matter what. Did you not see the let down of the players, Did you not see the expectation of extra time from the players and willingness to resolve the battle? Did you see anyone happy with a draw?
Players 'deflated' as golden point-less All Stars match ends in anticlimax
Nope Big Daddy it is not about egos. Even though it was a pre-season game the players were giving their all, the whole game (and pre-game) was intense and I’m sure the players wanted to play it out, they are competitors after all.
Win or lose you can accept that but a draw is nothing.
Players 'deflated' as golden point-less All Stars match ends in anticlimax
Welcome back the emptiness of a drawn game.

Disagree G Len N: any players have families and kids that go to schools who probably don’t want to move or change their club if their club is looking after them. But these are the players you do not read about because they are just doing their job not getting the huge money, not getting arrested. When club have their feeder club round and wear the sock of the original club many are local.
The NRL all-star team of one-club stalwarts
Too many rich powerful clubs are doing the dodgy deals that they will never allow the NRL to have full transparency on what clubs and 3rd parties pay and how much each team in the NRL are actually worth.
So… what did Tim Mannah say to get Isaac Moses deregistered?
Good list and recognition for these players. Give me one of these over any million dollar code jumper any day.
I’m sure many players would like to be one club players but the modern market and player managers makes it hard.
The NRL all-star team of one-club stalwarts
Just another SBW. A code hopper chasing the $$$$$
Israel Folau is reportedly on the verge of an NRL comeback
Standard meaningless statement probably written by his manager based on the commonly used proforma off the internet. Doesn’t say sorry and then demands privacy.
Mitchell Pearce's emotional resignation from Knights captaincy
Unbelievable cop out for the NRL on player welfare. This is more about quelling the loud chorus of old ex-players and NRL journos who want the game to be tough like it was in the good old days and to bring back fatigue as if that is some magic potion to make the game better.
