One nil to that umpire. Everyone was stunned to see such a tiggy-touch-wood free given for a young player’s confusion in the heat of the moment! It may have been within the rules to pay it, but where is common sense in a tense situation.

Footy Fix: How Freo (nearly) Collingwooded Collingwood - and exposed the Pies' hidden Achilles heel

The incorrect disposal rule seems to have gone the way of the Dodo some years ago.
We might as well use the flick pass like the no-necks do!

It wasn’t a dodgy decision, he ran 24 metres instead of 15 – get over it.

I love that theory of yours – I will investigate further.

Sydney's aged perfectly for the times: Swans flying high thanks to clever list built over previous seasons

There was nothing wrong with Peter Daicos!

They’ve had a good suck of the sauce bottle in recent years, so I for one am not shedding any tears whatsoever.

From injuries to coaching decisions and even umpiring calls, it's all going wrong at Richmond in 2024

Yes, Nick Daicos is a very good player, but come back in 5 years time and see whether he develops into a true superstar.

Is your correct the same as my correct?

I for one thought we’d be lost without Murphy, but the Woods seem to find a way of turning things around, re-inventing themselves.

The umpires kept Carlton in the game.

One thing the Pies haven’t been doing is manning up!
Yes we do miss those players, a lot.

Are you making excuses Macca? Don’t forget we had our best two middies not playing.

Excellent point you make about complexity – not only that but changing rules so damn often, it drives me to distraction!
I’ve been saying this years that the best games are ones where you don’t really notice umpires or if you do it’s because they did an outstanding job.
They seem to want to be the stars of the show and not incidental to the players.

What about Leigh Mathews?
I reckon he was one of the toughest to pull on a boot – ever.

I can’t stand players who take a dive – the umps should pay a free against those players! It would soon stamp it out.

Consistency is the issue and has been for years.
It’s a fact that some umpires give too many free kicks (tiggy-touch-wood style) while others don’t pay enough.
Whoever thought having MORE officials on the ground would make a difference should be taken out and shot!

There is nothing wrong with a draw. I love them and think we should have more!
It adds interest and unpredictability to teams and a season, which stops things becoming boring and uninteresting.

Collingwood has a history of giving away players at the trade table for unders.

With their defence and a trade steal firing, the Cats lead the ladder. The next three weeks will tell us if they really deserve to
