Great article Nick. I missed the game due to the paywall it was behind so this question may be redundant but isn’t the video referee supposed to pick up high tackles etc if the on field referee misses them? I’ve seen so many plays called back as the VAR has spotted something dangerous in back play that the referee has missed.

How Rassie Erasmus (over)ruled World Rugby in the second Test

They look so ponderous compared to other teams. Very disappointing. I hope the women get it together.

New Zealand, North Korea, China, Iraq but can’t think of a 5th.

Thought maybe Bein sports might have it?

Where would the Wallabies be without Michael Hooper?

Not meaning to hijack the thread but is The Lion’s game on Foxtel this weekend?

Where would the Wallabies be without Michael Hooper?

At the start of his career Hooper divided the Roar like no other player I’ve seen on here in the last 10 years.
When the teams were announced for this series I was delighted to see that only 10% of the comments on here were pushing the anti Hooper line. Following this series it has now dwindled down to only 1 or 2 %. This might be his greatest achievement yet!

Where would the Wallabies be without Michael Hooper?

It was also significant that after France had got out to a 10 point lead the Wallabies were the first to score. That really galvanised them…and me!

Wallabies break six-year series drought on the back of doing little things well

I told everyone that I was going to switch off and then watched the game through the back of my hands and then posted confidently , ” never in doubt”!

The Wrap: Will Marika Koroibete’s red card be the making of the Wallabies?

I’m not saying Hodge is the ideal solution, just that Toomua hasn’t shown me enough to suggest he’s a better one!

Youth group: Wallabies name four inside backs with just 17 caps between them

I don’t know about you but I reckon that playing against the ABs (and winning no less) at 10 is a good enough reference to play as a backup against anyone.????

Youth group: Wallabies name four inside backs with just 17 caps between them

He played 10 in a bunch of tests last year.

Youth group: Wallabies name four inside backs with just 17 caps between them

Toomua is lucky to be there, especially with Hodge being able to sub in pretty much any position and kick as well. Still nothing screams out at me as madness, which makes a nice change.

His involvement and tackle rate are exceptional. As for his “playing wide”, I would counter with ” he plays everywhere “.
He is regularly to be found streaking across the pitch to make a last ditch tackle in the corner having been in the preceding ruck on the other side of the field.

Why the numbers lie in the curious case of Michael Hooper

I like the fact that he keeps referring to his team as “men” instead of the usual boys. With a young team it sounds very much like a deliberate term to me.

'He'll boss the big boys around': Dave Rennie's verdict on close selection calls

I saw an interview with Rennie where he was raving about Kellaways speed. I haven’t noticed it myself but I assume they have stopwatches etc. Other than fearing an injury in the first 5 minutes to Toomua I’m comfortable with the selections in the first of a compressed 3 test series.
