Coleman apparently is doing wonders with the new MLR team LA Giltinis. I don’t think he’d want to leave that team just yet, especially for the unknown condition of the Rebels.

Dave Wessels resigns as Melbourne Rebels head coach

A major loss for the Reds. For my money Paisami has been one of the five best players in Super Rugby AU this season (and top 5 is a conservative estimate.)

Reds dealt massive blow with star to miss Super Rugby AU final

The rich get wealthy. One of the truly elite backrowers in world rugby. A great addition. On the subject of good backrowers, any word if Himeno will remain next season with the Highlanders? I have really enjoyed watching him play this season.

Crusaders sign Pumas captain Pablo Matera for next season

This is true Peter. Blues v Chiefs next week is a dead rubber, the SR Aotearoa Final will be Crusaders v Chiefs. Expect the boys from Waikato to play some reserves next week. Why risk injury in a dead rubber?

The Wrap: How to fix Super Rugby? Leave it alone

Good on ya Western Force. Remember in 2020 the Force were winless. Sampson reinforced the team well and has them playing well collectively. By far the biggest surprise of Australian rugby.

Force dreaming of Super Rugby glory after stunning Reds

Very true John, the Matildas often punched above their weight before but it has been sometime since they have been beaten so comprehensively like they were in these two games. Perhaps the short training period together under a new coach affected that, and I want to believe, with more time together this team would not be defeated so badly, hopefully these defeats act as the catalyst to get this team playing better.

Things go from bad to worse for the Matildas with second straight embarrassing loss

Perhaps a lesson in humility for the Matildas? They know now they have a lot of work to do. They should use the Olympics as a means to build a team for 2023. That means in Tokyo use players who should help you in 2023

After what he did earlier this week in the Marsh Cup, don’t discount Jack Edwards having an impact in this Shield Final. As for QLD, I really rate Bryce Street and think he can soon be pushing for a spot on the Test team.

A guide to the 2020-21 Sheffield Shield final

An impressive knock from Jack Edwards while NSW’s bowlers have shown their test match quality in shutting WA down.

Blues look to deny WA back-to-back one-day titles

Well said. Just look at European football which has developed into a haves and have nots in the domestic leagues

Quade Cooper says Aussie rugby should go to Japan

Good article Ronan, your points are all valid but as you close your article there is still time to change his form, starting with next week’s Shield Final. An in form Starc is a huge plus to any team. Let’s give him the opportunity to show he can improve from his present form. His past shows he deserves that opportunity. But no doubt in my mind if he still is in poor form later this year then he should not be selected, irrespective of his past success.

Starc's Sheffield Shield flop puts Ashes spot at risk

My thoughts too Andre. If there has been one bowler who has really upped their Test chances in this Shield season it has been Bird.

Starc's Sheffield Shield flop puts Ashes spot at risk

Exactly loosehead. The late owner of the NFL Raiders, Al Davis used to have a saying, “Just win, baby” Once the Waratahs do that the crowds will return.

Can New South Wales solve its crowds crisis?

His loyalty to out of form players is I think his biggest drawback as a coach.

Eddie Jones to learn England future in April

Good analysis David with some well thought out reasoning. Personally I think it could come down to one of Stoinis or Henriques and I think I would select Henriques for his versatility.

Cricket Australia contract list: Who’s in and who’s out?

Great rundown Scott. The schedule makers “rewarded” the Storm with their first three games against the Rabbitohs, Eels and Panthers! Yikes, maybe the rest of their season will be a cakewalk after that start! And they are doing that without Harry Grant. Changing subjects, Mahoney is looking good at hooker for Parramatta. I think the Eels have a chance to make a lot of noise this season.

Eight talking points from NRL Round 2

Tadhg Beirne had a fantastic 6 Nations both as a lock and at blindside flanker. He’s a wonderful player. A newcomer who really impressed me was Ireland’s new 15 Hugo Keenan, he reminds me of a young Liam Williams. I had my doubts before the competition if Sexton could still play at this level. He sure proved he still can. He passed the ball better than he has in several years and he remains one of the most accurate kickers anywhere.

The Wrap: Richie Mo’unga takes it to another level at Eden Park

Yes, England are not the same team they were in the 2019 World Cup semifinal and two big reasons to me are they miss Tuilagi, out injured, and Billy Vunipola is just not in shape and nowhere near as effective. Eddie Jones has erred in continually playing the same players irrespective of form. Besides the obligatory win over Italy, England only played one other good game in the 6N and that was against France. Jones needs a rethink and has to select in form players. But in the post pandemic world with the RFU ‘s finances there is no way they can afford to sack him.

The Wrap: Richie Mo’unga takes it to another level at Eden Park

I absolutely agree, Robinson is a delight to watch and his work rate is incredible. It is not just front rowers and wings were the Blues are loaded. They have a good set of back rowers, including Robinson, too.

The Wrap: Richie Mo’unga takes it to another level at Eden Park

Great rundown Geoff, much appreciated. I enjoy watching Mo’unga play. I don’t think there is a better 10 in the world running with the ball than him. There are things he needs to work on still but by 2023 I think he’s the man to lead the ABs in France. Like you I also think Will Jordan is a great 15 but with Jordy and DMac, not to mention Beauden the competition there is fierce. Havili is a player I think is valuable at 14 or 15 but this season he’s also showing himself to be a good centre too. Didn’t expect that. Finally Hoskins Sotutu was my favourite player to watch last year in SR Aotearoa and he’s having a pretty good 2nd year too.

Interesting to learn Western United will play several “home” matches in Launceston. Pierias has been a revelation this season, another young player making an impact in the A League this season.

Western United out to end drought beyond Victoria

There should be plenty of great matchups in this one but the battle of the opposing centres does look especially good. The wing matchup should be interesting too. But I think the Brumbies absences in the front row might tip the scales in QLD’s favour.

Reds' Vunivalu to start against Brumbies

Diego Castro is ageless. Still producing well in his late 30s.

Hot Glory cash in on rich goalscoring run

That try by Sevu Reece was spectacular. The Highlanders gave it a good go but the Crusaders are, well the Crusaders. To beat them you either have to be near perfect or hope they have an off day. neither happened yesterday. I do enjoy watching games from Dunedin, so often is a lively crowd there.

Crusaders start title defence with a win

I fully understand your point JC and ordinarily I’d support your view but in such a short competition I believe 3 games is a harsh penalty for a red card. 2 games would I feel still act as a deterrent.
