Its a sad indictment of Aust rugby that we do not have a 5/8 in the top 5, which coincidentally aligns with our current overall position in world rugby.

Ranking the five best flyhalves at the 2019 Rugby World Cup

The selection of ACC and JOC is a kick in the guts to aspiring wallabies. Hopefully it won’t trigger another mass exodous overseas. I do feel sorry for Banks, especially if he was induced to sign a contract recently then cut from the squad.

Wallabies name 31-man squad for 2019 Rugby World Cup

Tate McDermott had a blinder for Qld Uni in the GF and would be a great investment for the future. My other issue with the “squad” is that we lack a world class 10 to control the game. Possibly QC, although he appears to be a confidence player and based on the last few games for the rebels he has none atm.

Revealed: The Wallabies squad The Roar wants to see at the Rugby World Cup

If CLL is the first pick 10 who is the back up? If OZ is down by 10 with 20mins to play bringing on Foley will do nothing; same for Tooma. Which imho means QC is the second 10. If O’Connor actually is in form then he is on the bench.

A win, signs of improvement, but still plenty of questions for the Wallabies

Chieka doesn’t appear to be the nurturing kind of leader, more the bully command and control type; hence he keeps picking the same players who support him. However some of these same players are clearly not up to the job e.g. Foley and Hooper. Rumours of players having their jaws broken in non contact training drills are appalling and indicate a sick culture. Every rugby team needs a good 5/8 to control the the team’s game plan based on their understanding of each team members ability. Australia has not had a world class 5/8 since larkham; except possibly Cooper who clearly lacks confidence and therefore needs a coach who can nurture him. Cheeika is clearly not that coach

Michael Cheika once again misses the mark after Wallabies loss to back-up Boks

Clyne must be the first to go. He was a banker in a monopoly situation who made money by screwing customers and couldn’t give a stuff about employees. He is still in a monopoly however, he now has responsibility for multiple independent “not for profit” organizations ie the club’s. True to form there is no focus on the customer’s (fans) or employees (wallabies).

To save the Wallabies, Clyne, Castle and Cheika must go

One year of Hamish Stewart as an understudy to QC would be invaluable at his age.

New Reds players are needed to stop the red ink

Lance couldn’t make the Tahs starting line-up a couple of years ago for the SR final and he certainly hasn’t improved since then. Thorn needs to swallow his dumb Kiwi pride and start working with Cooper.

Reds coach slams door shut on Quade Cooper

I switched off as soon as the red card was out of the refs pocket, as the outcome of the game was predetermined. The ref’s job is to apply the rules of the game, not to interpret them. My biggest bugbear with rugby is each ref applying their own interpretation of the rules resulting in prolonged stoppages as the various referees hold endless discussions e.g. the A+B+C+D process.

Short memories: High tackle cards are not the refs’ fault

In the light of no other explanation, I can’t help but think that Thorn’s decision is personal, as is obviously Spiro’s article. Maybe it stems from showing a lack of respect for the great man himself, McCaw; and giving him a well deserved for smack for living most of his rugby career offside.

Tough-love Brad Thorn vs 'toxic environment' Quade Cooper

The choice should have been between the Rebels and the Brumbies and if they couldn’t decide which one then they should have been merged.

How the west was lost – and won

That Gill and MacMahon are overseas and unavailable for wallabies selection is a tragedy for Australian rugby as is Chieka’s inability to use Cooper’s enormous talent. Obviously Hooper and Foley will be captain and vice captain under Chieka and we will continue to loose.

Michael Cheika's new Wallabies need a new captain: Adam Coleman

“Catching and passing the ball consistently” was the selection criteria I used when coaching the U8’s; in addition to “pass the ball in front of the guy next to you”. Coaching at the elite level is about bringing the absolute best out of talented individuals who already have exceptional rugby skills. I don’t believe Macqueen, Jones et el had an unique insight into rugby but they did know how to motivate individuals and maximize team syneryg; not implement structures designed to control and constrain the individual.

Will Rod Kafer be the catalyst to make Australian rugby great again?

At last they have covered inside centre. I would have thought Cooper was at least number 2 5/8, which is probably a sad reflection on the current state of Rugby in Oz. I’m not sure what Cheika expects of Cooper throwing him onto the field with 10 mins to go and expecting him to win the game.

Michael Cheika names Wallabies train-on squad for Bledisloe Cup

If the Lions had opted to kick for touch rather than the equaliser with 4 minutes to go they may have won the series.

In a game of fine margins, Barrett cost the All Blacks a series victory

The Lions scored two tries to zero. The abs didn’t look like scoring and if the Lions didn’t kick so much would have scored again.

Highlights: Lions level! All Blacks beaten, Sonny Bill red-carded

I can see valid commercial reasons why you would keep the Rebels and the Force in two major cities. However for the life of me I cannot understand why we need a team in Canberra.

Australian rugby must go back to the future

If last night was an example the “Chieka way” Australian rugby is in more trouble than I thought.

Wallabies beat the Azzurri in a photo finish

Fitzroy moved to brisbane and the Swans to Sydney and most of their supporters stayed loyal. Sporting teams moving towns is not a new idea, especially overseas.

Rebel risk assessment: The ARU's nightmare

I agree with Wayne Smith. Move the Brumbies to Melbourne and merge them with the Rebels. All Australian franchises will benefit and overall operational costs should be reduced.

Rebel risk assessment: The ARU's nightmare

Jones and Cheika are peas in a pod and deserve each other.

Jones vs Cheika: This time it's nasty and Jones is to blame

Great team your Lordship. Only change would be to swap Falau and kuirdraini.

Michael Cheika needs to drop half his side against the Boks - including the skipper

Rugby is not as complicated as this article suggests. At the International level it takes players with inherent talent. Cooper has this in spades and knows intuitively how to manage a game at 5/8 at every minute of the game and can react instinctively according to the circumstances. While i believe the answer to the forwards dilemma is easily solved ie go back to a traditional backrow combination and include at least three linout jumpets; the backline needs to be built around a cooper led combination with a decent no 12. Contary to popular belief there are plenty of great 12’s in Oz with Kerevi probably the best at this point in time. BTW when cooper moved to fullback during a game when mackenzie was coaching it was considered a counter attacking maneuver. I do not understand the changing of positions during the game last Saturday and i suspect the players dont understand either. Cheika may be a novice International coach but i also think he is surrounded by incompetent staff.

Should Quade be handed the reins for the rest of the Rugby Championship?

Must last game for Moore, Adam AC. Hooper tries hard but not in this class. I had lunch with a former AB loose forward recently at which the lesson was that the whole of NZ thinks the Pooper thing is a joke. BTW whoever is the OZ forward’s coach should be SACKED TONIGHT.
Well done AB’s.

All Blacks vs Wallabies highlights: All Blacks claim 14th consecutive Bledisloe Cup

I suspect that if a poll were conducted of Rugby Roarer’s a very similar combination to his Lordships’ would be the result. If only Cheika had the collective Roarer’s infinte logic and wisdom.

Time for Michael Cheika to select the way he played
