The no 1 pick is rarely the best player in the draft. i.e. McGrath, Patton, Scully, Kreuzer, Watts.
A better list would be rising star winners or a list of players who in hindsight were the best players in their draft. Even more pertinent would be the quality and record of the club that drafted the player.
This article doesn’t “paint a realistic picture of the future of Harley Reid.” The intention is is clearly “to bring down a talented young player, and to search for and nit-pick every negative even where one doesn’t exist“

There is a Victorian commentary on the Cameron decision … and a rational one.
Cameron’s record shows he plays the game fairly and he didn’t pin both arms.
Lever could use his free hand to brace himself, as he did.
Lever accentuated the contact by throwing his head up (to win a free-kick) and immediately looked at the umpire.
There was absolutely no damage or injury BECAUSE the tackle did not pin both arms.

I think the over-acting in throwing up of the head was a contributing factor.

As an Eagles supporter, I knew there was no truth in this report. The current football management team is more likely to do nothing than try to develop any trade options. Their MO is to respond to initiatives from other clubs or players (like Brockman).
Absolutely no effort was put into securing draft picks from clubs that were interested in trading high picks for points. Neither is there any real involvement in recruiting players from other clubs. Missing Devon Robertson and Bobby Hill is indicative of the off-field malaise at my club!

Brad Scott arguably overachived at North, with preliminary final appearances. David King and a cohort of North’s ex-players from the 90s were bent on undermining him and Scott moved on.
