Mitch Hunt looked great most noticably was his kicking from the tee and out of hand but the timing of his passing to set those up outside him was fantastic. Looked every bit a quality 10 and enjoyed him pulling the strings.

The Wrap: Super Rugby AU and Aotearoa anxiously hovering on the bubble

This is where I think the ref needed to step in and say you can or can’t advance whilst in this formation.
I think it was obviously a ploy by the Tahs but they only accounted for the Brumbies giving away a penalty. The brums forwards actually very clever and didn’t pass the ball to the back before opposition engaging them which kinda left everyone in a well what now situation.

The Wrap: Super Rugby AU and Aotearoa anxiously hovering on the bubble

They still moved forwards whilst the ball remained at the front they still moved forwards doesn’t matter how fast you move still a wedge to me. That’s my point though so open for debate as interpretation is different for everybody and why having an ex ref on the comms panel is a fantastic idea.

The Wrap: Super Rugby AU and Aotearoa anxiously hovering on the bubble

I think other teams would be well aware of when each player’s contracts are up and if they are interested would be making a play for them well before their respective contracts expire. If the environment is good the team has every chance of retaining services. The environment at the Tahs is anything but, not even knowing who the new head coach will be and if they are destined to not taste finals for a few years will be hard for both retention and recruitment.

I think hiring non sporting type commentators also provides issues as you get a bit of the fan boy responses at times.

The Wrap: Super Rugby AU and Aotearoa anxiously hovering on the bubble

There always seems to be a job for the boys within the coverage teams once they retire and as pointed out you could have been one of the best to play/coach the game doesn’t mean you will translate that into being a great or even competitant commentator. Rugby referees love being the centre of attention so grabbing them for a insightful take on why certain plays have been penalised would be refreshing great idea. The ploy by the Tahs to not engage the maul could have used some insight as there has been some debate about the tactic being used by the Brumbies as a flying wedge and illegal but no-one can really comment as to if it was illegal or not. I think the ref should have given a warning to the Brumbies that it is an illegal wedge and not do it again so some insight from a former ref in commentary would have been welcome as I could be completely wrong.

Agreed think you’re on the money there Bobby.

Who lines up for the Wallabies' first Test against France?

No Marika is surely an oversight, Petaia at FB no thanks he is hardly filling anyone with confidence with his decision making in contact and I’m not sure he would be able to know when to run and when to kick. That is a very short back row come lineout time. I would swap the two nines surely having Tate come on with tiring defences is better. I too think Hosea is ahead of LSL, you hookers are probably some of the poorest come scrum time we have.

Who lines up for the Wallabies' first Test against France?

Great first article, I have enjoyed our conversations over on G&G I think you have captured some of the key match ups very well. This game has so many miny battles within it for me I think the battle of the tight 5s is most interesting. I just hope it doesn’t turn into a dour affair as the last few have. I think the teams match up very well and you only have to look back at the margins from the last 3 SRAU games between these two to know there is not much in it. Maybe home ground could finally be the difference for the Rebels to get a result.
Also GO REDS 🏉

Rebels and Reds in the battle of the halves

Be good to get a gauge of where the Rebels are actually at one would think they don’t want to be considered just making up the numbers and winning at home is going to go along way to proving that. I thought they showed good execution vs the Tahs but they were fairly ordinary vs the Force. I think they may just come up short against the Reds again but Thorne has done his best with selections to give the Rebels a fighting chance very sporting of him.

Super Rugby AU Round 7 teams: Brumbies get star winger back ahead of Tahs clash

Yeah It’s Jock at fullback or nothing for me, I’m guessing Dauguna on the bench as an insurance policy. The last game we just scraped through I just don’t get why you would risk this line up against a team you are not assured to beat. Home final might be a slap inthe face if we earn the right and can’t host it in Brisbane. I’d like to see it hosted in Townsville if we can’t have it at suncorp nice new big stadium up there.

Yeah a little baffling, Jock is FB or out for me and I’d pick him everyday over Hegarty. Daugunu on the bench is an insurance policy I guess. We just scraped through last game vs the Rebels so this team really concerns me, also not convinced Petaia is the best kicker or option taker for that matter.

Agreed should be a great battle up front, kicking battle advantage Rebels.

Super Rugby AU Round 7 teams: Brumbies get star winger back ahead of Tahs clash

Bit worried about Jock Campbell on the wing again, he is up against Timani so might be ok. Also huge suprise Feo is back in at the expense of Zander and Hoopert. Great to see Flook back, all in in all Rebels game to lose really. Reds by just enough.

I really hope the TT goes ahead this year, I’ve been really happy with SRAU but I really want to see how our teams shape up against those in NZ. As for hosting I think it makes sense for NZ to host their own matches and get why the 100th match vs the Springbok would be special reason to push for that. Let’s hope our respective gov can come up with a viable travel bubble solution.

New Zealand pushing to co-host Rugby Championship

Luckily they were ment to be on the road anyway, the only being the Brumbies home game. If they manage to win a home final man what a kick for us fans if we won’t actually get to see it. It has been a long time between drinks for us poor old reds fans.

All downhill from here: The Super Rugby AU run home

Red’s surely underdogs for home final now, thats it claiming it here and now.

You can tell by how lost he is when being penalised, you always see teammates coming up to him and desribing where he went wrong.

Vunivalu left hamstrung in Super Rugby AU

With Vunivali sidelined for a few weeks this could be forced upon them anyways, I’d like to see Stuart reinstated at 12 and everyone move out one. I can see Droasese being like for liked on that wing also though.

All downhill from here: The Super Rugby AU run home

Yeah nah, any talent in that comp has already been identified by the other SRAU clubs and brought into thier systems.

Tahs vow to fix culture before coach search

Tom Robertson was owned by the Brumbies on Friday. If he the best we can roll out then we deserve to be a tier 2 country.

The Wrap: Wallabies squad unveiling a step forward and a step backward

I’m not sure its going to matter who they bring in, even if they could convince Cheika, Ewen or Eddie that it is not a toxic environment without full Board support to bring in the assistants they need to support them and the freedom to recruit enough experience to suppliment the fantastic youth stocks they already have, then a simply change in coach isn’t going to fix whats going on over at the Tahs. Just ask the Reds what caretaker coaches and international coaching selection panel did to halt any progress, it gave us the Richard Graham years 🙁

Winless Waratahs axe Rob Penney

Explains why he went missing lol

Brumbies bounce back to thump Force

Agree with all of that, Sio went missing again though. There really isnt anyone else putting their hand up again this year so I guess we will see him in wallabies Gold again.

Brumbies bounce back to thump Force

Still the team to beat IMO, that backline were served the ball on a platter and they didn’t waste it very well drilled team.
