No one’s drooling, it was simply an example of a change that occurred some time ago, also…
” take a look at this, it’s all baby steps, but we’re moving forward… http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/australia/news/1167901/ffa-releases-model-for-change

Cultural change a must for Aussie football

Yeah I can see where you’re coming from, but there are a lot of points I don’t agree with that Craig Foster talks about. I’ve only taken the parts he’s mentioned that I do agree with. For instance yes I’ve referred to the 4-3-3 (which Foster obsesses over) , however the way Juventus plays the 3-5-2 allows them to play well tactically also in a similar fashion. I believe it’s a matter of finding the right formation to suit the methodology and vision for each individual team, which you will find goes against the 4-3-3 Craig Foster is so naively obsessed about (that same mentality actually lead to Barcelona losing to Chelsea as they were reluctant in finding alternative ways to beat Chelsea who sat back quite cleverly as bad as it was to watch). The point I’m making is that there is a need for a huge change as mentioned, and that I personally think this is the right way to go about it.

And on the whole “I’m sure there are bad British coaches out there, but I’m equally sure there are poor coaches from other backgrounds too”; you know what? there might be more poorer coaches in other backgrounds, the point being however, within the highest level football leagues, comparing the Premier League to Serie A for example there’s no doubt more tactical and technical depth present – sorry to disappoint – illustrating that yes England still definitely lacks in such depth as a whole… (emphasis on “AS A WHOLE”). So obviously, the better of British coaches’ knowledge was utilised in the turn around of the Netherlands.
