An armchair tragic of many sports. A satirist by nature

Same concerns as game 2. The loss of wickets at crucial times killed any momentum, and I think we look light on in the middle order particularly given that Agar has been listed at 7.

In saying that, it’s a tough ask to go over there and win. Their top order and bowling unit are extremely strong.

India thump Australia to claim ODI series

It’s a good point. The reality is though that those who play Russian Roulette football aren’t winning Premierships.
Strong defensive structures are the focus, and more and more are placing a high importance on forward half turnovers and defence.
If the rules stay the same for a period, we’ll see teams work out how to consistently beat the press (see the round ball game).

Brad Scott's new job: Managing the AFL's Penske file?

Hocking has already had his fair share of towel drops!

I’m really interested in Fraser-McGurk’s tournament. Looks a potential star

A guide to the 2020 under-19s World Cup

Gotta love some January optimism!

Port Adelaide must be considered a 2020 AFL premiership threat

I get the feeling that instead of addressing the issues of substance that you have outlined, we’re going to be bombarded with more and more gimmicks. The golden caps and tactical timeouts ripped from the IPL are good indicators of this.

The Liebke Ratings: India vs Australia, second ODI

Rowdy, have you considered getting in contact with Cricket Australia?

Does anyone really care about The Hundred?

Fair points. And reading the various soundbites from ECB people, the broadcasting is a clear focus. Again from Strauss:
“We want kids to be able to go to bed earlier and it is worth saying it is going to be on terrestrial TV. We want the more casual audience.”

Does anyone really care about The Hundred?

It just needs Glenn Maxwell arriving in a white suit on an electric skateboard to really add the cherry on top.

Does anyone really care about The Hundred?

Well put, Paul. As you say, there is of course a distinction between caring enough to go along or tune in, as opposed to caring about its potential effect on cricket as a whole. It will be interesting to see the reaction when it all kicks off (assuming the ECB manage to actually organise the thing which is turning out to be another story in itself).

Does anyone really care about The Hundred?

I cannot see why they don’t just build upon the momentum of the Vitality Blast.

Does anyone really care about The Hundred?

Nonsensical is exactly it

Does anyone really care about The Hundred?

Especially given that Bayliss was a short-form appointment and the ECB have indicated they will increase focus on Test success. I’m not in the “The Hundred should never happen” camp, especially given the commercial realities, but it just seems tacky and contrived

Does anyone really care about The Hundred?

The timeout thing is curious, given that Strauss bemoaned the lengthening of T20 matches

Does anyone really care about The Hundred?

Despite the denial of many who think that India are merely bullies at home, they are as likely as any other team to go abroad and win these days. Their defeat of Australia was admittedly against a weakened team, however I see them as a threat everwhere

Number one starts at home

Would love to see him in there!

Apologies Q-dawg.

Stoinis saves the nation

Love this thread. Interesting read

Queenslander are we, Quetzen?

Stoinis saves the nation

Fair comment, however money talks in respect to scheduling. I can see it getting worse before it gets better.

Stoinis saves the nation

Unfortunately for Sam (and selectors), he didnt make the runs as Warner did. All would have been forgiven otherwise.

Being too lazy to check, I can give you Beer and Muirhead straight off the top. Swepson too, but I believe he is a prospect.

Have you got what it takes to become a selector?
