It will be very interesting to see how Nairo Quintana rides today as well. He easily took over on the ascent up Col de Pailheres yesterday, and I know that he seemed to run out of steam coming up to Ax-Trois Domaines, but I think he will still be a force in Stage 9.

2013 Tour de France: stage nine preview

What I meant by that was a comparison between this year and last year.

Last year, Froome was dropping Wiggins in the Alps, but Wiggins and Team Sky management made him wait for the team leader. We could possibly see the same thing happen this year between Porte and Froome.

Although after last night’s stage, I am fairly safe in saying that Froome looks quite a lot better than Porte at the moment, and we won’t be seeing Richie dropping him next week.

Can Richie Porte win the Tour de France?
