Cheers Highlander, missed this one yesterday.
Great game, fantastic start, mixing the direct tighter play, going wide.
Definitely better having this settled coaching team at the start of the test season, shows how important good/right assistants are to have.

Your thoughts on Papalii? when I saw that Cane was replaced, I thought the comeback was on, 17 points isn’t enough. He didn’t appear as noticeable as Cane in the first half.
ABs as a team did well to get through the final 20 mins.

Enjoying this backline make up, I thought ALB might have been given some runs with JB, I wonder if they will go there with Ioane on the wing when he’s back.

I heard recently the SA were always targeting 2023 with this group and winning 2019 was a bonus, going to be interesting how they bounce back. Could be the Japan effect coming through with a few over there.

There is a whiff of myth about this Springboks side - and they were badly exposed by All Blacks' coaching team

I think Stevensons time is in the future, BB can take it through the cup. I mean if the combo bombs over the next few games, maybe give Stevenson a run, at the moment, things are working.

'Absolute beast mode': All Blacks bash Boks with Frizell and Jordan on fire in stirring win

Yea he was building into it aye, im starting to think having BB at FBack gives Jordan freedom to roam even come through as a FBack. It’s like BB is there to just guide and direct, letting others do the damage now.

'Absolute beast mode': All Blacks bash Boks with Frizell and Jordan on fire in stirring win

Great game, miss playing the SAs all the time in SR.
Top games from Frizell, Mo’unga.
Jordan was able to get everywhere.

'Absolute beast mode': All Blacks bash Boks with Frizell and Jordan on fire in stirring win

I think the South American trip may have been a unity trip, Chiefs and Crusaders players needed some bonding time after that final.
Could also be to build some early pressure for the new guys to go through. TRC is for building to the RWC it’s all in the plan, if they lose, I just don’t want it to be a mess.
I think they played the Boks at Albany in 2017??

Kiwi View: Let’s not get ahead of ourselves - Foster gamble could be exposed by smart Boks ploy

I think that is a really good starting team, Whitlock mustn’t be quite there.
Not sure on the bench, Taukei’aho is all good and Williams, thought Roigard could have a go, Papalii is a concern if we take Frizell off, the ruck area will be exposed in the final 20mins.
Is Clarke there for if Jordan goes down early maybe? I guess the migraine issue could crop up after first tackle on him.

All Blacks debut for Aussie-raised rookie, Mo'unga back at 10, Springboks rocked by death of captain's dad

Cheers Geoff.
Enjoyed the hitout for the ABs, man they looked crisp.
I’ll catch up on the SA game tonight.

The Wrap: Like Hillary at Everest Base Camp, Eddie Jones has a mountain ahead of him

While there’s a hope to play the same XV for games this year, I think it’s good to get some of these guys up and running, ones that haven’t played for a few weeks, resting others.
DMac needs a run now to get him up to speed at 10.
BB needs a big game to show he can play FB.
Overall I think it’s a good move by Foster, he’s looking at winning the RWC, this is the first step.

McKenzie recalled, Stevenson snubbed, debutant winger named as All Blacks reveal team to face Cheika's Pumas

Cheers Jamie
Can’t wait for Sunday morning to see the boys get into it. Hoping for Fozzie to go out on a high after all the crap over the last 4 years, it starts this weekend.

I think that the last 10 mins was going to happen even when the Asst coaches were changed, things were up and down, inconsistent. Japan and Scotland, could have ended that way, Wales was an anomaly as they couldn’t field their top team.

Jordan is a bit of a worry, I think long term health is being put first in his case, will be unfortunate not to be at the RWC though.

While we need Whitelock for starting, if the Achilles isn’t good, might be good to get a replacement up and running, it could go at any moment.

Not popular, but I wouldn’t be against having a Frizell, Cane, Jacobson combo start and bring on Savea for the last 30 mins.

Hope we don’t deviate from Mo’unga at 10.
My concern would be, undecided for too long on 15, if it’s BB then he probably needs to play to get some form.

Like to see Smith and Roigard combo develop for these 4 tests.

Kiwi view: The 'blown' 10 minutes that has left every All Blacks fan second-guessing Fozzie's RWC campaign

Cheers Geoff.
Cracker Saturday night semi, tight, tug a war, edge of your seat waiting for a breakout.

That was a Friday night head scratcher, considering the other two games this season, players involved, especially a loosie were different, totally changed the Blues game. What concerned me as to who was in charge to make a correction after that first 20mins??

I do love watching Mo’unga, Jordan and Leicester with front foot ball, it’s been missing from them this year, but it was nice to watch.

The Wrap: Contrasting semi-finals set the scene for an epic Super Rugby Final

Just looking at the ABsXV team, man the Blues played themselves out of the two top teams in NZ.
Good to see Cameron there, he could push on to 27 as the top 10.

'Total belief': Cane still All Blacks captain as FIVE debutants named in TRC squad, gun fullback misses out

Great squad!!
I like the mix of loosies, pleased for Jacobson and Finau is not a bad pick.
With all those specialist midfielders they still see Reiko in there, hope to him in the 11 instead of Clarke.
Big congrats to McLeod.

'Total belief': Cane still All Blacks captain as FIVE debutants named in TRC squad, gun fullback misses out

Great wrap Geoff.
Well started Friday at the Chiefs game, incredible moment to be there, you felt it was going break open for the Chiefs but it never happened, I was pleading for 3 points when they got the second penalty, but no one could hear me over the chanting.
It was great watching the passion of the Reds after the game, huge moment for them and Thorn.
I talked to Nankeville after the game, put in a good word for NZ rugby for him to come back.
It was my first time watching at Yarrows, I’ve only ever played on it, fantastic stadium to watch in, even half finished it was a great atmosphere too.

The Blues v Crusaders lived up to the hype, fantastic game, enjoyed the mini battles, BB v Mo, Leicester v Clarke, Ennor v Ioane, Sotutu v Grace.
Blues are going to find it tough without decent locks going forward.
Mo’unga and the saders look so much better when he’s running with the ball, and he was all for it after a quiet few weeks.

Looking at the round, out of the top teams, Blues, Crusaders, Reds showed the defence needed to win the Championship.

I think it’s good that we are getting to the point where if you rest players, you’re going to run the risk of losing. Hopefully we won’t see so many players rested for no reason.

The Wrap: Super Rugby goes 'old school' as Reds and Crusaders back their defence to deliver them victory

Yes that’s right, maybe the new CEO of NZ Rugby Commercial will run the ABs brand.

The Wrap: In a race to rewrite rugby history, the bull--t rises to the top

Cheers Geoff, good to hear it’s not affected.

The Wrap: In a race to rewrite rugby history, the bull--t rises to the top

Cheers Geoff, lots going on in the halls of power, I can’t remember but was the new 7 year Super rugby commitment a Marinos thing, is there danger of this being reneged on??
McLennan doesn’t like the sound of an independent commission??

McLennan’s way forward is sounding like “ let’s spend 30 million on 30 players to get us through the next five years, see what comes through, then start a new cycle in 2028 with a fresh 30”.

On a NZ governance note, when you look at the board, they’re definitely a group elected to run a national organization, NPC, club rugby etc.
But this new ABs brand stuff and Super Rugby, they almost need to move into a Marketing CEO type person, separate it all out, someone to push the brand, bit of a personality etc!!

How good is Dura at home!!! love how I can hear the crowd constantly going if at every touch and run.
Enjoyed the Chiefs game, loving the work the forwards are doing at the moment.
2nd string Blues made that game entertaining after Moana took it to them.
Bigger crowd would have amplified the brumbies and rebels game, enjoyed the game a lot.

The Wrap: In a race to rewrite rugby history, the bull--t rises to the top

Cheers KiwiHaydn, nice squad.
Should see some players come into form over next few weeks, some have been humming and others have been slow to form.
Hoping Goodhue and ALB can stay healthy, could do with one outside JB.

Is this the All Blacks squad that will bring home the Rugby World Cup?

That could been an opportunity to see Sullivan at 10 for the Blues!!

Super Rugby Rd 11 teams: Wallabies bolter makes return, key All Blacks duo back from lengthy injuries

Yea it is, comes across great on tv, the Fiji game too, crowd was pumping.
Might be time to look at boutique stadiums to get some atmosphere for some teams.
Not sure on the Canes game, attendance low to that one.

The Wrap: Scary Chiefs make it a neat nine, Brumbies miscalculate, breakthrough moment for Rebels

Cheers Geoff, thought that Crusaders v Chiefs game was great, full crowd really added to it as well in a big stadium.
Had a chuckle at Taylah’s line there.
Hurricanes bounced back nicely, nice win over a top team.

The Wrap: Scary Chiefs make it a neat nine, Brumbies miscalculate, breakthrough moment for Rebels

I think the “opening up” is concerning as it hasn’t been done in NZ, we have been so against it.
More what irks me is saying this in public by Robertson, this could be done privately. It does say that he views current talent heading overseas as a needed instead of talent coming through. This could be something that he is saying will be needed with permission from the board and this is to get us prepared. Maybe he’s stated he can only be winning constantly with experienced players from overseas.

If they did go ahead, I think it would have to start at a 60 – 70 tests mark.
I’m ok with the sabbaticals and coming back in.

Looking at SA, while the Currie Cup is still going, I believe it’s been watered down like the NPC has in NZ.
But NZR watered down the NPC with an extended SR season before covid, saying players could rest between August and November. I think if the NPC can be made the place for say Under 23 players to develop and then step into the SR teams after missing out.

SR would be a big concern, if players leave after 2 or 3 seasons, it will kill that comp.

The other side would be, with the % of revenue to be payed to players, which would be around 100mill now.
Could they create a better earning pro career down here?

Is Japan looking to flood there comp with foreigners at this stage or is it only one two to the matchday squad??

'It'd be a disaster': Outgoing All Blacks coach clashes with successor as tensions build

This is the toughest round yet. I’m going to differ to the experts on this one….

Super Rugby Pacific tipping week 10: Hold on for a wild round

Cheers TF. It will be interesting to see next year when an independent board takes control whether there’s any change. I would like to see the best play the best every week, if there’s obvious burnout, that’s a different story.
While it’s a combined tournament, I believe there’s a bit of politics going on behind the scenes as money is still to be evenly distributed. Hopefully this board will streamline everything.

Enough resting, we're falling asleep: Why Super Rugby teams need to play their stars

Big risk opening up the allowing of overseas players. Will accelerate to move of younger players up north. I like the sabbatical option or if they choose to leave for a couple years and then comeback.

That is massive revenue, looks like there’s been some massive one off costs covered. Unless WR comes to the party, Women’s RWC hosts will face big losses in the near future.

Next generation of head coaches coming together for the betterment of the national team, going to be a huge task for them.
Ryan, MacDonald, Holland have been pretty successful assistants/field coaches in their past teams.
Thought there may have been one “old head” in there, but they do want to create a new environment that fits the younger generation.
