Fine, if you need to make that distinction. Personally I don’t really see the point. Maradona was a great player, Mathews was a great player, that’s it.

Is still rightly regarded as one of the greatest to play the game, and absolutely belongs on this list.

Not a bad list, reckon Greg Williams is stiff to miss out, would certainly have him ahead of Hird

“Home venue advantage” – what?

Joyful Rebels finally make their way home

Jeez, from reading this you’d think the rebels might as well take a sabbatical. Sure, the reds looked good but the tags looked very average.

Anyway, if they do win I’m sure there’ll be the inevitable “was a poor match” “they won’t get that many mistakes vs (insert nz team)” comments.

Tipping panel Week 2: G’day and Kia Ora

Yeah, fair enough, I agree we can’t just say that was that.
Could we not have just re arranged tours, or come to some kind of sharing agreement. From the outside in it seemed SA were publicly
flexible, but privately adamantine.
EDIT: kind of what you were saying I suppose.

Australia and South Africa should co-host their next Test series

Congrats on the first article on the Roar GL!

Don’t mind the idea of a split tour as an idea. However, I don’t think CA needs to, or will, repair any damage with SA. They made the right choice, there was no way a tour could go ahead. SA will complain, but they knew this was coming.

On the subject of changing the way tours are done, why not try things like having Australia play Pakistan and Bangladesh in the UAE consecutively – maybe even a tournament ? Unfair on Bangladesh you might say, and you’d be right, but I can’t see Australia touring Bangladesh for a while. Just a thought.

You’d hope that would be a major part of it Paul. No point allowing them to play on flat decks. As someone above mentioned, Hobart would be an ideal option were they to play locally. Tell the grounds keepers to leave plenty in the deck.

Australia badly needs an A tour this year

Great article Paul, succinctly surmised something that has been rolling around in my noggin for a number of months.

This is an issue that should’ve been addressed years ago. With the top players rarely playing in the shield for various reasons, how are the next in line to test themselves against test standard opponents? It’s madness that a full schedule of A matches haven’t been going ahead for years.

I know Harris is currently in the main squad, but I’d love to see him added to the A squad were this to happen. I’d be interested to see what he could do with a decent run at quality opposition.

Nah, bowlers will always target a young gun batsman this way, won’t matter where he bats. He bats where he bats best, and exposed form would suggest this is toward the top of the order.

Also, are all these concussions cricket related? I thought some were from playing footy.

Third Test preview: Can Australia turn the tables in Sydney?

Why should he never have opened for Victoria? Seemed to go alright.

Third Test preview: Can Australia turn the tables in Sydney?

Growing up in inner Melbourne, the bluestone alley between streets was a regular fixture. Bowlers paradise, batsmen needed to play very late with soft hands off even the most pedestrian of bowling attacks. Long boundaries down the ground.

Five of the best: Celebrating the most fabled backyard cricket pitches

Really should’ve been ended earlier, could’ve become really ugly really quick. Referee was poor at best.

The Gypsy King remains on his throne

I’m assuming as they used 2 in 2015, that counted as their 2 for 15, 16, 17 &18. They were then required to used at least one in 19, and one in 20.

Should the 17 other AFL clubs hold the West Coast Eagles to ransom?

No, they didn’t. They used 2 first round picks in 2015, none in ’16, ’17 or 18 and 1 in ’19. That’s 3 in the last 5 years. Were the Eagles not to get a pick back, they will have used only 2 in the last 5 – ’16 1, ’17 1, ’18,’19,’20 all none.

Should the 17 other AFL clubs hold the West Coast Eagles to ransom?

A couple of quick add on’s to go with this article:

The behavior of the English team in recent years has been pretty poor, and Stokes in particular has been as bad as David Warner at his worst.

The behavior of the South African team (including head office) has been equally poor if not worse – its been going on for years and for some reason it is rarely brought up.

And finally, the behavior of South African crowds has been utterly appalling.

I say this as an Australian without a hint of irony, we were for years pilloried (mostly fairly) for our behavior, the same needs to take place here.

Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler abuse cases evidence of a serious problem

Now Jeff, I’ve always seen you as a good egg. However, your refusal to accept what is well known, that being, the Rand corporation, in conspiracy with the reverse vampires, have been working with the deep state to remove male teachers from Australia’s schools, and simultaneously remove the spines of the New Zealand batting line up. That you have ignored this, means, of course we can no longer agree about anything.

New Zealand batsmen have embarrassed themselves

Just going to pull the pin on this little Grenade…. Starc, Cummins, Hazlewood & Pattinson are the greatest fast bowling line up that’s ever existed.

Genau, Brett. The icc is unique in its ability to allow grey’s to seep into its blacks and whites.

Cricket injury replacements are a reasonable concept, until you start thinking about it

Agree Numpty, if you can bat through the evening session things get easier – so, concentrate on doing that and then cash in.

Shane Warne's radical fix to improve day-night Tests

I feel that this is to stop teams being Laissez -faire with concussions as they have in the past, no more “come on mate, just tough it out til the tea break type stuff”, or the player themselves doing something similar.

Cricket injury replacements are a reasonable concept, until you start thinking about it

The problem from my point of view is that I have no faith in them enforcing it properly. They already have long-standing regulations such as over rates that they are incapable of enforcing the rules for.

Don, I may be wrong here but I didn’t think Brisbane had switched to drop ins? Agree with that Perth so far has looked good.

MCG pitch shambles a failure in PR

But, if prime test dates are to be shared, then surely that would include the new year test? Or is it only the Boxing Day Test that need be shared.

Why can’t Perth hold the Boxing Day Test?

Why would Sydney skip it?
