I'm the hero The Roar deserves, but not the one it needs right now.

The clique-y nature of the playing for the National team is a good thing in my opinion. Means you need to earn your spot and the respect of your team mates – which in turn makes you want to put 110% in so that you dont let them down.

The one-cap Socceroos XI

“If the FFA wasn’t so busy frantically doing nothing, they should look into something similar.” As useless as the FFA is, they dont need to.

Ausralian teams have had separate chinese shirt sponsors during the Asian Champions League for years now.

Hi, I’m one of those fan’s you have not met yet. Pleased to meet you and F the FFA

How much more will our Congress impasse cost football?

Incredible Waz. That list highlighting the FFA’s incompetence is incredible.

VOTE: Pick your NSW Blues team for Origin 1

So you’re admitting that the SPL is of low standard by lumping them with the other nations leagues?

Is Jamie Maclaren really ‘in form’?

Well… that escalated

Sydney FC set to unveil Graham Arnold's successor today

Mate, Scott Sinclair looks like a phenomenal player in the SPL because the standard is not that high, Boyata is a defensive rock and Leigh Griffiths cant stop scoring apparently. Debate it all you want, but that just explains where the SPL is at in regards to quality.

League 1 is where a majority of SPL clubs would most likely sit, with Celtic being mid-table to the lower end of the Premier League at best. Not a single player in the team is from a League 1 or lower league. When Bailey Wright was getting selected while playing in League One, it had to do with the fact that he was the best available for the position required. Macca unfortunately isn’t the best available for the position required.

Before the game against Rangers – which I’m discounting as it was a dead rubber that skews his stats – and he scores 5 goals in 14 games in the SPL. For a Fringe player, that does not demand selection when he hasn’t performed when given the opportunity. He also play’s a completely different forward role – loves to run in behind defenders – which I doubt is how Bert is going to want to play. Not surprised by him not being selected at all and contrary to what many people believe, his stats aren’t that great.

Did anyone actually watch him play at Hibs or is everyone just looking at stats as well? Because I doubt anyone would say he deserves selection if the few games I watched of Hibs is anything to go by – and thats against SPL defenders who make Scott Sinclair look like Messi.

Or move on with most of the world sports and get rid of the draft and have every club set up their own academy or junior teams?

Works in America cause of college sports, but that’s it.

Academy system vs father-son: A new paradigm

Zlatan retired from International duty before the Swedish campaign started. Sweden qualified without him. Zlatan then announces that he wants to play in the World Cup, even though he didnt help the country qualify. The Coach say’s no, the players that got us there will be there.

Big difference.

FFA denies Cahilltex selection conspiracy

“he’s playing in a sub-standard League such as the SPL”

Whether you like it or not, the SPL cannot be considered a high calibre league. Bar Celtic, the SPL is very poor in quality.

And other than the Hattrick, his goal to game ratio wasn’t good enough to overturn the fact that he hasn’t even looked liked scoring for the Socceroos, or the fact that he did not look like scoring in the Bundesliga 2.

Is Jamie Maclaren really ‘in form’?

Exactly.

This seems very biased and one sided. Shouldn’t the author be happy that kids are given a pathway to develop and become professional’s regardless of how they do it?

Academy system vs father-son: A new paradigm

50 goals in 105 appearances for Australia, what does that tell you?

Is Jamie Maclaren really ‘in form’?

I’m one of the FFA’s biggest critics, but surely people aren’t that out there to believe this was the case?

FFA denies Cahilltex selection conspiracy

So as I said…great player, questionable antics?

Glad you agree.

Cameron Smith announces shock representative retirement

I’ve watched enough Scottish football on BeIN this season to know that the standard isn’t high, which is why every Australian want’s a guy like Rogic to move to a more competitive league.

Maclaren's Socceroos omission a step backwards for football in Australia

Agreed, but most of those players seem to be reprimanded, there are a lot of times where Smith seems to get off where other players have been penalised.

Another volley like the one against the Dutch and I wont need to go to a brothel to get relief 😉

Decent bloke off the field doesnt make him a decent bloke on the field. Great player, to the point where he is in the debate for greatest ever, but doesnt excuse some of the tactics he has employed on the field.

Thank god, only have to deal with Mccullogh now… (gulp)

Considering Macca hasnt scored for the Socceroo’s, can he put it in the back of the net?

Maclaren's Socceroos omission a step backwards for football in Australia

I was told that I was going to hell by the Christian Studies teacher in High School because I wasn’t Christian.

You know what I did? I laughed and let him have that belief because;
1) It wasn’t my belief
2) It didnt affect me at all

This uproar smacks of people wanting to be outraged for the sake of being outraged.

Can you imagine what little mileage this would have gotten if people went “haha Israel, have fun believing that I’m just going to continue what I’m doing as what you say doesnt affect me” and got on with their day?

Also, let’s stop mixing sport’s with politics for crying out loud. I want to switch off from all of this bull crap for a couple of hours on the weekend. Sport’s stars aren’t upstanding citizens on a moral high ground, sports organizations aren’t bastions of good – they’re a business trying to make money. Let’s not pretend like it’s anything that it’s not.

Sorry Israel, I don't want you back in the NRL

Yep fair call. However, new manager with a new philosophy in a new league – similar questions were being asked about Kewell at the start of the season for him and he proved all the doubters wrong. Hopefully Ange can do the same as it’s always great to see an Aussie do well abroad.
