I'm the hero The Roar deserves, but not the one it needs right now.

Yokohama are one win away from being placed mid-table. I wouldnt judge them yet.

Maclaren's Socceroos omission a step backwards for football in Australia

Fair enough. I personally feel all three are not up to scratch, but unfortunately that’s what we have so any combination of those three (make it four when you put in Kruse) is a ‘meh’ for me.

Did anyone believe McLaren deserved a World Cup spot before his hattrick in a dead rubber against a Rangers outfit devoid of confidence?

Before the one game against Rangers, Macca had 5 goals in 14 games, and we all know how strong the Scottish league is defensively (ask Scott McDonald).

Macca is a good player, but unfortunately left his run way too late to prove that he deserved his spot over Rukavytsa – cause lets be honest, he wasnt in a contest against Cahill.

Gersbach was on loan in the French second division for the second half of the season and was hampered with injuries his whole time there.

Not denying he is a class player, but injuries are preventing his progress.

Good luck to him. At least Kalac can now quit being a concreter to feed the gambling problem

Popovic to Perth: Glory grab former Wanderers premiership coach

That’s because of the momentum of the ball. It all depends on how it come’s out of the hands, not where the ball ends up due to momentum of the ball and the speed and distance the player is travelling before they release the ball. It came out of his hands forwards and should be a knock-on.

Don't blame the refs, Bulldogs fans. They didn't cost you the game

I don’t understand why this is such a massive controversy.

Man makes drunken mistake on stag do and is dealing with the consequence. Move along.

"Bloody idiot" Nick Phipps fined $4000

I know it’s hard to put a left winger on the right, but I would put Cotric on Oates. Probably the only NSW winger who is comfortable under the high ball, potentially nullifying Oates, who is also big enough to handle him on the line.

Freddy’s NSW backline conundrum

Roberts is only good in broken play. When was the last time you saw an origin game where a winger was afforded time and space to dash into open field and run for 50+ metres?

Whether people like it or not, Origin is a war of attrition, you need to have players that are willing to do the dirty work, not players who can only run fast.

Enjoy the day lads, very happy to know that long suffering fans like yourselves who stuck through the tough times can celebrate this weekend. Fingers crossed t he Jet’s get up!

Grand finals aside, the A-League produced the goods once again

Wouldn’t surprise me if it happened. We saw it as WSW and fans cannot wait to go back to Parramatta. The SCG will be terrible to watch football at, just like Etihad and Adelaide oval, and Kogarah and Leichardt will only the SFC fans in those areas. Good luck to them, but it’s going to hurt for a few seasons.

Teddy a sure pick? I’d say he doesnt deserve to be there. His time at the Roosters has shown his weaknesses – lack of a pass and inability to work through the ruck to support his forwards with a potential offload – instead of highlighting his stength; his running game.

Based on the players available, I’d go with:
1. Trobojevic
2. Addo-carr
3. Dugan
4. Latrell
5. Cotric

Freddy’s NSW backline conundrum

I would argue with you on the importance of Cahill in this Socceroo’s lineup – his aerial presence, physicality, exceptional front end pressure and goal scoring ability WHEN he gets good service – but you think Troisi and Kruse are good player’s so I know there isn’t a point.

Tim Cahill's World Cup case is weak, and getting weaker

Just because other forwards have been playing doesnt mean they automatically deserve to go. Have the other forwards been performing? Have they performed for Australia?

On top of that, Cahill was a big reason why we qualified. Wouldn’t it be also unfair not to let him play in the World Cup if 6 months ago he helped us get there?

Tim Cahill's World Cup case is weak, and getting weaker

Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski both struggled to score for their club sides at points in their illustrious career’s, however when they were picked for Germany they were clinical, ruthless goal scorers. There are some players who thrive under a certain system and in a certain environment. Whether Cahill is scoring goals for Millwall or sitting in the stands serving a suspension, he should be on that plane to Russia. He has proven himself enough to demand that.

Have a feeling that the Knights and Sharks can upset a few tips this round. But who knows anymore, this season has been horrendous for tippers.

The Roar’s NRL expert tips and predictions: Round 7

Argentina do have some quality players other than Messi. It’s a shame that Sampaoli seem’s to let his ego get in the way and has ousted Dybala and Icardi from the team. They wont do too well this World Cup.

FIFA WC 2018 : Dark Horses

I have friends who were in Germany when they won the 2014 World Cup, and let’s just say I was green with envy when I heard their stories. Enjoy mate and fingers crossed for you!

FIFA WC 2018 : Dark Horses

I have to admit, I would love to see a minnow like Iceland win as unrealistic as it may be!

I remember how Denmark won the European Championship in 1992 when they were very very fortuitous to qualify due to unfortunate circumstances (Yugoslav War) and boy was that great.

Not a single person I know who is a WSW fan wants to see Josep gone.

Josep Gombau denies Wanderers unrest speculation

Dark Horse to win the world cup or Dark horse to get out of their group?

If we’re talking dark horse to win the world cup, I would assume that a Denmark is more fitting than any of the teams mentioned above. Unfortunately the list above would be lucky to win a game (sadly, Australia included).

FIFA WC 2018 : Dark Horses

“I’m basing my opinion on the fact that the majority of technically gifted amateur & semi-pro players all over the world don’t have what it takes to make it as a professional.”

I agree with you, however I also see a lot of players at CCM – players like Hoole, Paine, Golec etc. who I believe are very lucky to be in the A-league based on their ability alone. You say that you see a structure in place, and all they need is quality players…that’s precisely my point, they dont have quality players and I see a lot of young players in the NPL who I believe would do much better.

Six talking points from A-League Round 27

You have an issue with me basing my opinion after watching technically gifted footballers in the NPL, yet you base your claim on 2 performances out of 27. Bobo and Adrian wont stop CCM shipping 49 goals.

Six talking points from A-League Round 27

Precisely why the got the spoon. I can name a host of players in the NSW NPL that deserve an A-league contract ahead of every single CCM player. Vranic, Jesic, Speranza (take your pick from the brothers), Mallia, Muata-Marlow, Panny Nikas. The reason CCM are doing so poorly is that they have recruited a lot of never have been’s and never going to be’s.
