Agree with your post , however saying Ange was unproven at club level before the roar would be forgetting he he taken the reigns at South Melbourne successfully as a very young coach , dealing with some pretty big egos and high expectations.
I hope Fowler does well , I think it’s just an anti English snobbery that people are death riding him . If he had a Spanish or German sounding name, the snobs would be talking him up .

Will Robbie fall fowl at the Roar?

Maybe this Australian team are not very good . Well outside Australia they are in fact woeful bar 2-3 players
However hats off to burns for taking his opportunity

Gritty Rory Burns ton grinds down Australia

Are you claiming Ben Simmons as a Melbourne product. He lived In Mrlbourne from 11-15 yo

Mate he grew up in Newcastle Nsw where his dad finished playing for the Newcastle falcons in the n b l
He also was a talented rugby league player in Newcastle as a kid too

Anyhow good luck to him , hope he sorts out his boomers situation

Australia doesn't really know Ben Simmons

Hughes century, then lillee getting Richards last ball before stumps.

Steve Smith once again saves Australia from Ashes embarrassment

Hughes 100 on that diabolical mcg pitch in 81 against the unbelievable windies … is the benchmark for the greatest 100s under duress .

A B in the West Indies I’ve read are equally as heroic .

Lara , what can you say , the best bat of all time

While a great knock from smith , the quality of bowlers faced in not in the same stratosphere as the windies fast men .

Yes I believe they want the big city pie

Those big cities being Sydney and Melbourne are flooded with professional sports teams .
They have more pro sports teams then London or Los Angeles , yet Australian sport only generates a small fraction that London or los Angles … wise men are not going to throw 10 million away .

I'm on the Western United bandwagon - and you should be too

Agree , it’s hard to believe a homeless Victorian club got in the league before established traditional club with a very good stadium like Wollongong. But apparently these booffins who make these decisions are smarter then us plebs .

I'm on the Western United bandwagon - and you should be too

All true regarding the jets and a lot to do with a owner( with Chinese’s debt issues ) who can’t sell the club and therefore is letting the squad self destruct in the meantime.

Apparently the ffa says they had about 14 consortiums with 10 million each in investment to bring to the A League
.. , but none of them are willing to buy into the jets, a club with far more potential then another club from Melbourne or Sydney.
The next compass east south central United Melb or Sydney club has diminished value to the a league as those cities are overcrowded with professional teams .

But anyhow Newcastle is a really an incredible opportunity being missed by potential oweners . Makes me think that it’s a bit of a fairytale that all that potential investors are real .
If any owner spends decent money on the jets squad for a few years running, the club would be getting regular 15000 crowds and the follow up merchandise from that .

But this season is a potential spoon season for Newcastle unless they actually pick up a few players soon . Over to lawrie and Ernie to get some brilliant bargain then .

I'm on the Western United bandwagon - and you should be too

Not convinced that the stadium will get built , but let’s hope so

Playing at afl grounds is ridiculous. Do they use their brains on these things

Anyhow Let’s hope that Wollongong and Canberra and other non Mrlbourne or Sydney teams get the nod next time

Sky Blue army’s playing at st Andrews . My dark horse for promotion

A 2019-20 EFL League One season preview

Huddersfield. 11/2. For promotion ,

Do you know what an outsider would be paying..
11//2 is way unders

It is quite a short price when 3 teams go up out of 24 . I’d want 12/1 at least to take Huddersfield
Mooy should just be careful if he moves now it’s not somewhere he is going to sit on the bench all year

As for relegation, I’d be checking out Birmingham city

The Socceroo who has earned his place in the promised land could now get lost in mediocrity

The bottom 8 teams in the epl ( despite the hype). are not a lot different in quality then the top few the championship .

A lot of players of very similar abilities to Aaron mooy , so if he does leave Huddersfield he be worried about getting stuck on the bench somewhere.

Why is Aaron Mooy still stuck at Huddersfield?

I look at the epl as an old girl friend , she’s sort of hot on the outdside , looks are deceiving though , get to know a bit about this old flame her and her mediocrity shines through the make up and dazzling clothes

Have fell in love with amateur rugby again. It’s brilliant, brutal incredibly skilled and great surprisingly big crowds that know all the players . Can’t get enough

The English Premier League is slowly killing the beautiful game

Totally backs up my point about which clubs pair , not the clubs you decides do .

It's the most important A-League season ever - so let's see a fixture list

Yeah , 30 years ago they did and what happened at all the train stations and streets etc where different sets of fans met up

Anyhow that’s 30 years ago and t v and policing effect fixtures inn England currently

It's the most important A-League season ever - so let's see a fixture list

The epl and efl fixtures need combined planning due to a few factors especially around the clubs from the same city

Lots of clubs can’t have home games in the same weekend
City / united
Spurs gunners etc

Then you have cross division issues
Villa — Birmingham city / Coventry ( ground share )
West brom / wolves
Wednesday/ Sheffield United
Chelsea/ Fulham
Newcastle/ Middlesbrough
Cardiff / Swansea

The list goes on

Stuart, I suggest you look into the complexities of organising fixtures and what goes into that for 92 clubs in England

Let’s be realistic about what’s going . Western melb can’t lock down a home ground and Foxtel want there supposed block buster fixtures played 3 times , which attract slightly bigger then abysmal ratings .

Meanwhile every competition in Europe is starting very soon and in Australia we are doing very little .
A 16 team league and August kickoff can’t come soon enough.

Fad

What buddy said outlines the complexities of the fixturing in England, yet they did it in 3 weeks

It's the most important A-League season ever - so let's see a fixture list

EPL had their new fixtures out 3 weeks after their comp finished is another way of putting it .

Agree. Ponga , played the man and got him in the head accidentally but in the head all the same.. fair decision imo.
I disagree with Scott on this one

Eight talking points from NRL Round 19

I hope you’re right

Bancroft, Labuschagne and Siddle in my Ashes XI

Marsh and lillee went alright

Alderman was fantastic in English conditions , should not have tackled the pitch invader.

Border. Champion , succeeded against the best bowlers Australian teams ever played against.

Warner. I won’t back him on this tour to succeed and I wouldn’t back him in any era at all .
Warner in Australia on flat decks , but not any era . Not a chance
I’ll give you that Smith and Cummings would have been good .

But back to the original point , it’s a very weak looking Australian team ,

but im judging against a high standard of Aussie test cricket across the last 40 years.( exception being the mid 80s ) .
