I love my Rugby as I am from Nelson NZ and played for 15 years before a serious injury cut my playing days short, I love my Crusaders and All Blacks. Enjoy Cricket which I also played for 18 years, moved to Australia in 2004. Now in Tasmania which is literally pretty cool, but it is a beautiful part of OZ

It is Geoff, but Stuff Rugby had the breakdown of the deal which includes Mitre 10, Maori Rugby and grassroots also.

The Wrap: Is Australian rugby setting itself up to sink or swim?

Hello Leroy, and hope that you are well.. The great thing about Razor is that he has brought young talent into the Crusaders, he sees talent and is not afraid to give them ago.

This why there is no easy fix.. Both Unions are divided and are looking after their own interests, Rugby is caught in the middle while supporters are last in the thinking. Egos need to be put aside for the good of the game, otherwise things will not turn out well.

I agree Paul, the average salary for an AB player is more than a Wallaby player. Yet both countries lose players overseas, both Unions need to provide what is best for them. Unfortunately they do not engage and listen to the supporters which one of many problems. When Steve Tew stepped down as NZRU CEO then have gone backwards fast. He engaged the public and was passionate about the game. Both Unions have now become self absorbed and have lost the support of the public.

Thanks BF, I forgot about Meehan. And the others I was not aware of. Appreciate you updating me as they say! You learn something new with each day. Again thank you mate.. 👍 Do you think RA can afford to pay them at least what they are worth?

The Wrap: Is Australian rugby setting itself up to sink or swim?

G’day Paul, salary is based on form, games played etc.
Unless someone has inside knowledge it would be hard to know the salary package of individuals, let alone the team salary in total. I would be interested to know also! 👍

Great post BF, you have explained your points well mate. A lot of Aussie supporters do not understand the logistics and the costs that racks up, and that is before paying for players and refs. As I also posted where do the top coaches come from for the increased teams, and that is an added cost. Also there is not the calibre of coaches for double the teams,

Another great and insightful article Geoff. How wonder how RA can afford the logistics? And then how will they be able to afford a strong wage for all the multiple players. I can see even more talent going overseas for money and better coaching, and talking about coaching! Where are the top coaches going to come from, there are far more questions than answers. If they say we want Kiwi’s to come over and play, only retired players with the odd one that could get a contract in NZ. I wonder if NZRU because they knew this will eventually happen is another reason to sign with Silver Lake.

And hopeless is a kind term to use for his coaching ability. Even John Mitchell had better results and this says everything about Foster.

Great two hear two players have so much respect for each other. I find the UK media weird at best, they made a big song and dance about a certain England coach talking with a certain opposition Wallabies player as shocking. But nothing about two opposition players being good mates. And they wonder why people outside of the UK do not take them seriously.

I understand where you are coming from JC, but it would be a big step backwards going to the Rebels. He is focused on International Rugby next as well, as he stated he wants at least two RWC’s to be involved in. If he went overseas he would need at least 3 years to get a gauge where he is at. If he coached two RWC’s he would be at a minimum age of 61 years old. I get the feeling he would to be at at a RWC sooner rather than later while he is running hot, and who knows what players would be like in 11 years time.

So true Muzzo… Also those from outside of Aotearoa have no understanding of Foster’s history. He destroyed Waikato Rugby with his arrogance and ignorance.

I totally agree WEST… Less of Foster means less of an imposter

OB, Razor is more of a sweet potato.. I cannot get enough of my sweet as potatoes.

You have pinpointed every reason why Kiwis do not trust and have any faith in Foster OB. He is doing the same thing he did when he coached the Chiefs, stayed stagnant and did not change with the game and other teams.

Yeah, Nope!!

Nothing against the Wallabies at all, as regular posters know that I am in full support for their growth. But with DR bringing in a genuine good feeling within the squad and supporters, and if he does well against England and next year in the RWC, he will be surely resigned. Razor I think could be rightly pressuring NZRU, as I think if he did go it would be a team in the Northern Hemisphere which is ideal to develop as a coach. Also there some top coaches coming through in Australia, if you sign another Kiwi it would be a negative from RA about the coaches there. Those coaches would head North due to frustration and having a feeling that they are not trusted with their talents.

Appreciate that dfenda… Also I feel that that wether you support a team or not, if their players inspire others through their genuine good deeds or in other way! They should be respected and appreciated for it. Hence why I mentioned this, again thanks mate. 👍
