The difference between what is possible and impossible, is merely the determination of a man’s mind.

RA to begin hunt for Wallabies coach imminently after securing key man, Schmidt keen as Nucifora talks continue

G’day Dusty.
I agree with your sentiment totally, whoever is chosen needs to be given a proper opportunity over time. Eddie deserved his time to be short as he was not interested in the players only himself, he is someone that cannot be trusted just like Hamish.
Rennie had built a nucleus of players ready for the RWC but was unfairly treated and was unable to prove himself on the biggest stage, Jones destroyed all the progress that was made.
Arrogance based on self interest has been allowed to prevail at RA headquarters for too long, hopefully now things will change properly for the good of the game in Australia.

I might be wrong but I have doubts about Schmidt being head coach of the Wallabies, as Ireland started going backwards towards the end of his tenure.
Ireland were starting to have a solid structure from domestic rugby up, once he left for personal reasons Ireland have gone to another level. He would be a great assistant coach for the Wallabies and this would give him the opportunity to learn the Australian game properly, this would be the best way to gauge if he is the right man for the job.
The Wallabies need a proven coach to install the right culture and a realistic path forward, they also need to employ a coach with the understanding that it is along term project.

G’day Ray.
Yes he is only 35 so realistically he could be involved in coaching for 30 years or so, congrats on buying your property in Christchurch.
I would have had him taking over McCaw also but the cards did not work out for him, it is exciting to have him as the assistant coach as he will have the players onboard.
Have a great Christmas with your family and and stay safe my friend, I look forward to catching up with you in the new year… 👍

Matt Todd is ready for the next step in his rugby coaching career with the Crusaders in Super Rugby Pacific

Thank you for your response mz.
Certainly the Crusaders have lost some key players, Leicester is a massive loss especially.
I am pretty confident that the Crusaders union wanted Todd as assistant to develop him into being the future head coach.
Penney will be under pressure from carrying on from the great Razor, he just needs to focus on his own strengths that he can bring to the team.
2024 will an interesting and exciting one both on the domestic and international stage, for Australia and New Zealand new coaches and players will make for a even more intriguing one.

I agree Bluffboy, I was hoping that he would be number 7 ahead of Cane. Cane has done well though especially considering his injury plagued career.
I can see Todd following Razor in becoming the future head coach and being successful, he has the right personality and attitude.
Have a great Christmas with your family, and stay safe… 👍

Hello mz.
There is now reason for Australians to believe in a more positive future, with Kiss coming in for the Reds and changes at the helm of Australian Rugby.
I expect that the Northern Hemisphere will continue to develop, I just hope that France do also and not to go backwards like after 2011.
Have a great Christmas with your family and New Year’s also, and I look forward to catching up with you for the new season… 👍

'Let the good times roll': Hope springs eternal after a year of ups and downs and merry go rounds

G’day Ken…
It certainly was a crazy year for Australian Rugby and for the wrong reasons, now that changes at the top have been made a positive future should be on the horizon.
Have a great Christmas with your family, and I always appreciate your input on here my friend… 😊 👍

Looking forward to catching up with you more next season… 😁 👍

Hello BF, shame that he didn’t coach in France as he would be an even better kiss.. 😂
looking forward to catching up with you also mate… 👍
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and the family also, I hope that it is a great one for you.

Pressure Points: The Kiss of life? Les has habits to shake at the Reds

I wish Kiss and the Reds well, Kiss having worked with different players and personalities while in different environments should be of benefit for the team.

Interesting as he did lead Australia to the 2015 final, but he bemused with selections and his media rants which is from the same book as Jones! I personally would not touch the water in Randwick as it seems to have a negative influence on a person. I wonder how the supporters feel about the possibility if he did throw his name into the hat?
I personally hope that RA has learned from the Jones debacle and offer Cheika another role like a head of coach development?
Betting should be offered about how long if results were not good before he loses it in front of the media.

'Everyone's in the hunt': RA won't rule out stunning Wallabies return after Cheika departs Argentina role

Great post Bluffboy, all relevant questions for sure.
IMO Scotland are building the way that Ireland did and are doing, Wales I am uncertain about at this moment.
France will go either way as they have the game to beat any country, but will they go backwards like they did after losing the 2011 RWC final?
Australia will take time to recover from the damage done by Hamish and also Jones during his short tenure, a holistic approach is required and not any shortsighted decisions being employed.
For us Kiwis Razor will approach the ABs in a similar way when he took charge of the Crusaders, he has players to build around while employing his own style.
He understands the players and how to get the best out of them, I suspect that Scott Barrett will become the captain while replacing Whitelock in his position.
I see teething issues at the start but quickly the players will get to understand Razor and his philosophy, 4 years is plenty of time for everyone to gel while enjoying their game which is essential.
Exciting times are ahead after much needed growth first…
Thank you for taking your time to read the article Bluffboy, much appreciated… 👍

'Let the good times roll': Hope springs eternal after a year of ups and downs and merry go rounds

Hello Adsa, certainly 2023 will be remembered for all the wrong reasons for Australian Rugby. Things cannot get any worse and 2024 will be start of much needed change from all levels of the game.
Hamish tarnished the game and the reputation of Australian Rugby which is unforgivable, Jones did the same with his naivety due to being arrogant and lacking in foresight.
Things will take time to turn the mess around as a lot of damage has been done, RA will now hopefully be more transparent to the public and players.
I hope that you will have a great Christmas with family while staying safe my friend… 👍

Thank you for a well written and informative article Nick.

Pressure Points: Now or never for Coleman at Waratahs after 'forgetting about the rugby', key signings give hope

A great and honest article Tony, thank you.
When you have a self centred mindset person in charge things will never turn out well, it was fine for him to sack a former CEO and coach and seemed to be rather joyous about it! But when it is him in the firing line literally, his ego is once again there for all to see.

COMMENT: 'Best interests of the game'? Hamish's dummy spit proves RA was right to cut him loose

He certainly has plenty of motivation for sure, the environment there should suit him which will aid in his development.

New chair says Aussie rugby must end 'sugar hit' approach, 'fears' for game's future if reform doesn't occur quickly

I agree jeznez…
Letting Harris go was bemusing as he had a high ceiling and great potential which he was already showing, I wonder if Coleman is regretting that decision now?

All good here thanks Leroy.
It was bizarre with the thinking from Eddie, everyone knows that you need a balance between younger players and the more experienced ones.
What annoyed me was when he blamed the players for not being good enough while not accepting that the blame laid squarely at his feet, I am concerned about how the RWC has affected the players mentally?

Well said BF, some use the state biased argument.
Those high in authority are from different states which is actually helpful as they can provide information about what is happening, and come up with genuine solutions and answers… 👍
