Just another Westfield suit, great Australians they are !!.

Why I'm optimistic about football in Australia

NRL should not fear the AFL in NSW and Qld

The riverina is mentioned quite a bit in this article, you will have to sift through though.

BTW a Parkes AF team is returning this year to the central west AFL comp so the amount of towns that just have RL teams would be reduced to 2, against 30 towns that just have AF teams.

Why there's no need for code wars in Australia

Australian football IMO is the dominant code in NSW across the riverina, north to Batemans Bay along the coast and definitely in western NSW.

The riverina is interesting, north of Wagga, RL rules, but south and west of Wagga AF is the dominant code, but north of Wagga the code is still fairly strong, all the way to Canberra, but on the other hand RL has no strength heading south.

From memory there are 5 AF teams in Wagga, whilst only 2 RL teams, but across the riverina AF clubs in the riverina – 60, across 11 leagues, against 20 from RL in 2

Around 30 AF clubs repesenting towns that RL has no representation, against 3 for RL.

A longer history of around 45 years for AF in the Riverina.

The Sapphire coast in some towns has AF ahead and others RL ahead, but IMO from Batemans Bay south AF would be ahead, RL has folded in towns like Narooma, and i hear that Tumbarumba in the powerful group 9 is having big problems ATM.

Why there's no need for code wars in Australia

Fair enough, i dont seek him out, but when linked in a thread such as this , i have a gander, the man has seriously lost the plot.

I have had a enjoyable morning, and i hope it stays that way, have a good day.

Could free-to-air moves be good for NRL?

His articles just repeat the same thing every time ……

”We’re going for rugby league,” the network boss said

”The best thing about Lachlan now being in charge at Ten is that he hates AFL.”

”Rugby league is ours to lose but we won’t lose it,”

”They love what they know and will treat NRL as a loss leader,”

etc etc etc

The guy dreams all this crap up, then after all that, he states that the AFL will still probably get the billion.

Could free-to-air moves be good for NRL?

And you think Republican has issues !.

Why there's no need for code wars in Australia

FFS Roy is full of it, can he ever write a decent article about anything …… fullstop, the hate and paranoia ooze out of him.

Could free-to-air moves be good for NRL?

Football to me in this country like millions of other Australians is Australian football in the south and rugby league in the north, the other football codes are known as soccer and rugby to me.

thank you, i am very comfortable with that.

Why I'm optimistic about football in Australia

Yes of course much like the fussy post regarding 5,000 people watching the NAB cup in Sydney, he forgot to mention about foxtel live coverage 6 hours earlier and free to air in the southern states which drew 425,000 viewers, and the midnight start for the game.

We can all play that game , i accept that, except some have no other game !!.

Why I'm optimistic about football in Australia

Fussball ist unser leben I couldn’t give a stuff what your West Perth team does;

Your post says otherwise, thats why you were banned repeatedly from big footy.

Why I'm optimistic about football in Australia

I may also add that the lowest attendance this year was 1003 at a a-league game, that number just sounds sus to me, but at any rate my WAFL club West Perth did not have a lower crowd than that last season, they avarage around 2-3,000 fans per game.

Why I'm optimistic about football in Australia

Fussball ist unser leben said I have a deep and lasting commitment to the A-League and I don’t care about those figures …

If you dont care about crowds, why are you even responding, we all know you are happy to sit by yourself and wonder at the technical and tactical acumen that soccer players and soccer players alone have.

Guess what, if present trends continue, you will be sitting by yourself.

Moonface said |Forget the petty attendance criticism

Petty attendance criticism ….. What ??.

Whole season, a-league attendance per game

05/6 11,281
06/07 12,985
07-08 14,608
08/09 12,181
09/10 9,831
10/11 8,393

Should this trend continue the a- league will dissapear up its own kyber, i am no mathematician but atendance looks to be trending down around 15% PA

No one watches on TV either, 36,000 for the a-league finals, outrated by tinkerbell.

Why I'm optimistic about football in Australia

Over 11,000 members today at GC, i wonder if they can get to 15,000, would be interesting to see the demographic break up of their membership.

i reckon 4 to 6 wins this year, will probably fall apart towards the end of the year, Hunt will be servicable, but not a standout, but maybe take on a enforcer type role for his young teammates.

Will they turn a profit of any kind, they will certainly make some money from their stadium deal, but will it cover there costs.

Gold Coast Suns won't be pushovers in 2011

Seriously Ian, you have issues, for years in every newspaper, internet board, you have gone on and on about this, RL was trialled in Perth on Sunday arvo and the ratings were pathetic, so it was canned, if it manages to get on TV in Melbourne on a HD channel at a reasonabale time , good luck, but your personal crusade has nothing to do with this thread.

Do you actually have anything else to say, without repeating yourself.

Why Andrew Demetriou is worth every penny

Here in WA, by the time a game starts in WA , it is over in the east, many people who have dream teams will be on the net checking things out, and many will not bother with the TV game, a live game last season between the Dockers and Collingwood rated 315,000 in Perth, compared to around 120,000, on a normal friday night, with 2 non WA teams.

If they want better TV ratings, the games must be live or close to it.

BTW nice balanced article.

Why Andrew Demetriou is worth every penny

Another anti-AFL article on the roar ….what a suprise !!.

Why there's no need for code wars in Australia

Shooting people as well now, a whole new level.

Waking the sleeping football giant

What i find amazing is the ability of the Roman Empire to bulild a stadium in AD 70, that fitted in 70,000 people, and they named it the Coloseum, yet 1, 940 years later, the WA Government cannot do it.

Melbourne needs a third footy stadium

Very true, selective quoting there from fuzzy, but then we expect that, but when the a-league showpiece games get 36,000 Tv viewers for a final, and beaten by Tinkerbell, it’s not selective quoting, it’s the sad truth.

I must also add that the Swans/Collingwood glorified practice game drew 425,000 game on free to air TV, and was also on foxtel live in NSW and QLD, then replayed at midnight on 6 hour delay.

Why football needs Rebecca Wilson

Surely your aving a laugh, what a balls up of a article, seriously, is this meant to be serious ?, can anyone confirm this, is it April the 1’st yet ?.

Why there's no need for code wars in Australia

Surely it does not need to be explained to you that the height factor and his athleticism is the big factor, …… just as in soccer, with a goal keeper, height is a big factor.

Lachlan Keefe, ex soccer player and QLDer is another, a 6’6/7″ athletic big man, great to see AFL clubs finding and developing these big guys.

The AFL wants a slice of 'American Pie'

Titus said Thankfully for football Mitch rejected the easy money and boozy social life of AFL

The haters will hate, a pretty sad comment really.

Waking the sleeping football giant

A lot better money in country WA at some Australian football clubs and leagues than in the WAFL, $1000 per game is not a lot, thats only around 25 grand a year, be plenty of guys all over the country on better money than that playing in country, and metro comps.

Waking the sleeping football giant

Yes, thats right, tow the company line, never question rules, and be born with a innate working knowledge of the off side rule !.

Gold Coast United are dying a painful death
