Realist your referenced and accurate facts aren’t welcome here. Everyone on the Roar knows that the more times you write something in a comment the more truer it is!

Rising star noms are seemingly often more than single weeks worth of outputs. Amiss will likely get a nomination another week and probably not on his best game to date.

In the space of 12 hours this article is going to age like fine wine or fine milk!

The saints hot start to the year has been built off effort and elite fitness and despite a serious injury crisis. Seeing the difference from last year in consistent effort has been very pleasing (to borrow from Alan Richardson).

Interesting to see how the RTB defensive system holds up against the best ball movement and a very solid defensive structure.

Hope the sainters get up today but could be coming for the reality check they need

All signs point to Ross Lyon's Saints going 5-0

Put on st Kilda v port in Cairns and tell me it can get any worse

Solidarity from my daughter to yours! I say it’s good character building

Don I’m yet to find the exact cocktail of antipsychotic medications to understand your views on most things, but I heartily agree here. Worst case scenario is the list goes backwards in the short term because they identify a bunch of people who were never going to work hard enough in the first place. The cultural shift from this would be a huge improvement in itself.

Not even after winning the 2004 Wizard cup?

It’s been a very poorly timed process the recognition of Ratten’s extension being the wrong call and some difficult/tough/unfair/however-you-call-it decisions can only be a good thing for a club and list that were very stagnant.

I’m hopeful that Ross will get more out of the current list. It’s currently middling and a while away from lining up for premiership contention but it’s also not the diabolical state everyone’s reporting on (as if they had North or West Coast’s seasons)- If they’d beat port in Cairns this year, they’d have played finals and Ratten would still have a job.

Recurring things from players at other clubs are about a lack of professionalism and accountability at St Kilda which speaks to poor leadership. Look at Blake Acres and Tom Hickey as two guys who struggled to get a game at St Kilda then applied themselves and were in all australian talks.

As much as I love Jack Steele I reckon he’s got the captains armband on because no-one else was rocking up on gameday, not because he inspired leadership on day one in the Selwood/Riewoldt/Voss manner. Touk Miller in an interview talked about being sour after being passed up for the captain role a few years ago and with retrospect how unprepared he would’ve been at that point in time and I think Steele has a lot of growth to do in this area. For all the talk about Ryder, he was culturally the MVP and now the club will have to find others to step up in that area. An unexpected benefit of Ross coming back is that the 09-10 group seem to be publicly very invested in what happens next and having Riewoldt, Goddard and others, along with Lenny Hayes (new assistant coach) would also be a great move in raising the standards.

Lots to play out, as they say “Nothings ever as good or bad as it seems in footy”.

No coach is going to rock up to a presser and say we’re out of contention unless you’re in North or West coast’s position. It’s not really the place to assess a team’s intentions, that’s in the tactics and the selection of the overall list and gameday list.

Agreed, last 3 coaches were first timers

There’s a fair bit of diversity amongst all 3 religions in what is tolerated and how you live according to scriptures from past centuries or millenia. Not everyone takes the old testament from a literalist approach. And those that do pick and choose the bits they want to abide by.
It wasn’t long ago that people used the church to justify their stances against inter racial marriage and for racial segregation.

Thanks for sharing mate that’s a beautiful verse. Hopefully the Sainters can throw some positivity your way. Hearing about Lenny coming home definitely brought a smile to my face.

Accepting an unacceptable season at St Kilda

What track record? We’ve always been squeaky clean at st Kilda and totally respectful of women and waiters with achondroplasia who were definitely not lit on fire that one time

Very well might given the small defence the Saints are coming in with. Could be a real battle of the tall forwards!

Your AFL team's run home: Bottom ten (part two)

Well said, and agree with the comments below.

Hopefully between now and this time next year they’ll have become my dynamic and adaptable, able to switch plans mid game and respond to other teams strategies.
They’re also very fragile coming out of defence when under pressure.

On a positive note, there’s at least 4 first year players looking AFL standard and with room to improve. No rising stars amongst them but a big improvement from our recent recruiting.

They're back in the race, but it's still all a bit tough for mediocre Saints

Can’t tell you how good if felt watching the saints rip the ball out of the centre square and just dead eye nail it to Paddy McCartin every time. Only 5 years too late

Ratten grills Saints midfield for giving goalless King ‘no chance at all’

Glad the coach is being supportive of King. I do think his work rate could be better but it’s hard to know how much freedom he has to drift up and get involved when the butchers in the midfield are hacking it left right and centre.
All of the other contenders for the Coleman are sitting in front of gun midfields with a strong turnover game (means you get one on ones) and/or working alongside another key forward (also a key to one on ones).

So now the seasons cooked trying to work out who to get emotionally invested in for finals…

Melbourne? a lot less romantic than last year, watching Petracca give post game interviews sounding humble and team orientated stings, would love to hate that guy…
Geelong? I’m not bitter or anything but Geelong can absolutely get stuffed, like i said, not bitter.
Brisbane? maybe… Just get a feeling they’re mentally still fragile and the Daniher love is a bit over the top
Freo? Carlton? If I didn’t spend time on this website i’d probably get behind both of these teams. I feel like I’ve given up literal years of my life reading garbage about their injury lists and prospects. They’re both good to watch and even if they do let me down, it’ll be just like the saints made finals anyways…
