I’d give away 3 home games in a heartbeat to get in on the academy rort. It’s BS that the AFL gives such massive advantages to some teams but then expects supporters of the other clubs to keep fronting up with over grand a year for season tickets to watch their club play with effectively one hand tied behind their back.

Footy Fix: The scariest part about the Swans? They're still nowhere near their best

I wouldn’t be getting carried away just yet despite the swans being obvious early premiership favourites. Plenty of water to go under the bridge. History says this sort of form is hard to maintain all season. On another note, something needs to be done with these academies, the advantage is just too strong now. SA and WA teams get nothing other than the draft. Vic teams, especially the big ones, have the advantage of being desirable for trade targets.

My view is its a workplace and you have to follow the doctor’s orders or they’ll be punishment. Can’t have employees going rogue.

I heard on the news that the AFL has ticked it off.

Just when you think he’ll finally be gone, he always manages to pull a rabbit out of the hat and save his bacon. At least Tredrea is on the board now, he sees right through Hinkley but he’s only 1 vote out of 7.

Hinkley.

AFL News: Demons blow as Petracca confirms the worst, Nicks confident Crows can knock Swans off perch

I’m not worrying about Sydney just yet. Season is only half way. Watched footy long enough to know that a team at their best is unbeatable but for whatever reason(s) the same team in the same season can also find their worst and be pathetic.

I never said the doctor was aware of the extent of his injuries but sent him out anyway. I was questioning how a medical professional was not aware enough so sent him out rather than erring on the side of caution. Don’t always have to be a medical professional to know that someone is sick, real sick. I’m not a medical professional but saw enough of the alir incident at first take to know he shouldn’t have returned to the field.

Agree that’s why clubs have doctors….to assess the injury and to take the decision out of the players hands. Can’t believe Melbourne is not receiving a large fine for this like Port deservedly received.

Haha you selectively quoted a portion of my comment to take it out of context. Nice work. This is what I said “How could a doctor have absolutely no idea that a person has 4 broken ribs, punctured lung and lacerated spleen….no doubt at all….to the point where they send the player back out?”

Even the Collingwood players knew he was seriously ill.

Cmon Macca just admit you’re wrong on this. I understand on footy forums the general culture is to never admit to being wrong about anything but in this case I think it’s warranted. No player displays such agony from bruised ribs. Like Port did with Alir, it was obvious Melbourne threw him back out there to win the game. Health came second.

Doubt it. Vic clubs protected.

Great article Tim. How’s the general silence from the majority of Vic media that went after Port, and rightly so. However since then we’ve seen multiple instances of concussions not being attended to adequately by vic clubs with players left on the field and there’s been nothing of the pile on that Port received. Now we have the worst of the lot with Petracca and still general silence from Vic media. Of course the AFL says nothing to see here. Bloke has 4 broken ribs, a lacerated spleen and punctured lung and medical staff send him back out. What a cover up. That’s why clubs have doctors because players aren’t.

We beat all the bottom 10 teams but year after year fail in the big games, including finals.
Our game plan relies on individual brilliance. Against the good teams we need a solid game plan, which we’ve never had.

Footy Fix: The Crows are an utter shambles - and one horror stat shows just how far they've fallen

He’s got no integrity. He’d see all the problems with Hinkley but says nothing because Hinkley got him to 300 games plus his brother is a coach at Port so to criticise Port is to criticise his brother.

Footy Fix: The Crows are an utter shambles - and one horror stat shows just how far they've fallen

Think it’s only the ‘pov’ clubs on the afl teat that get the 6 month clause. Doubt Adelaide would get the benefit of it.

Rubbish. He only just got resigned a few weeks ago.

Rubbish. They signed him up for an extra 2 years only a few weeks ago.

Why does Hinkley escape this scrutiny? 12 years it’s been, with at least 7 of those years being fickle and soft under pressure against top 8 teams and finals.

I’ll tell you why, the media just don’t give enough of a toss about Port to bother putting any heat on Hinkley. The one person who could, Kane Cornes, is too busy sucking up to Hinkley for gifting him 300 games and employing his brother.

Nick’s not going anywhere for at least 2 years. Boards would rather the club suffers than admit they made a mistake. They may very well make the same mistake again when his contract is up for renewal at the end of 2026. As a supporter you think surely not, they wouldn’t do it again and then they do. 12 years of Hinkley at Port, 12 years. What’s Nick’s into, his 6th year? That’s nothing!

Classic vic-bias article with a lot of Kane Cornes about it. If the game was played at the ugly cold alphabet stadium and Geelong won by 11 goals, the entire article would’ve been about how good are Geelong, premiership threat bla bla bla.
