I’m with Viv, would love to have had the DRS at my lowly level of cricket! Test cricketers don’t know how good they’ve got it. Watto will know soon, he may not be a Test cricketer for much longer….

Thanks for the welcome and comments. New Zealand playing at the ‘G probably won’t happen. But would be far better to watch than the Windies. Maybe Ireland are available??

Great stuff Peter. Dean Jones was my hero and as a boy/teenager rode a very comparable emotional rollercoaster with him as you did with Yallop. For mine VVS Laxman was the most sumptuous of all batsmen. Could happily sit and watch him for hours. Yet I can also watch Shivnarine Chanderpaul bat for hours. All part of the beauty of Test cricket. Very happy to report that there is almost a full house at Abu Dhabi for Day 2 of the 2nd Test that I’m watching right now. A wonderful sight after the empty Stadium at Dubai.
Test cricket: Quality over meat-headed bash and barge
Nice work Peter. Of course it would never happen, but it is an easier to follow, more logical idea than (sadly) anything that has ever been suggested for a World Test Championship. Good mix of teams in your post 2000 list too. Something needs to be done now for Test cricket relevance.
