I agree – the A-League is just struggling for relevance in a really congested summer schedule. It doesn’t help that our national team lacks the star power to generate interest in football on a broader scale. It’s also very worrying that Hyundai is considering ending their naming rights deal – the main sponsorship deal the A-League possesses. The quality of the A-League has never been better and football is the biggest grassroots sport in Australia. It just has the impossible task of generating a consistent revenue stream, re-capture football fans and compete against other sports to save the league.
Have we all just given up on the A-League?
Thanks for the comment! I see where you’re coming from, but it did seem from that match that Novak’s movement was restricted late in the third set. It has been a tactic used by many of the top players to take a medical timeout when losing, Djokovic has taken these tactical timeouts in the past. I don’t think this takes away from his mental toughness or fortitude, he uses the tools the rules provide him.
Novak Djokovic: A champion like no other
I completely agree. Djokovic now leads Federer 27-23 in head to head, while leading Nadal 29-26. Nadal has not dominated Federer on any surface other than clay, with Federer winning their last 7 meetings. Federer only leads the grand slam race due to his head start, Djokovic will eventually catch him. Whether he will be viewed as the GOAT is another question entirely.

Hopefully, Marsh can make the most of this chance and give Australia the all-rounder they desperately crave. It’s probably going to be his last opportunity to make it at international level.

I think it’s a Cricket Australia device to share matches between states. Tassie and Queensland both have men’s matches, but Canberra doesn’t. I think for the sake of the women’s game and its brand appeal, it is important to have a wider spread of matches in different areas, such as the NT.
