Gees after that presser cant see how Carlton rate Sayers. Agree with Lethal, the guy’s got no idea. PS someone please tie his arms to his side – thought he was going to knock Liddle in the face at one point.

Carlton sack coach David Teague after 'confronting' review of 2021 failures

Tigers really have to get a bit ruthless in the trade period and trade one or two out for picks. These guys have to go to clubs who are almost there so that we do get some decent returns and just as importantly whoever gets traded gets the chance to play finals (again). Players like Houli, Astbury, Chol, perhaps. Like to see Cotchin play one more season without the captaincy supporting a new leader like Graham or Vlastuin.

We already have two first round and two second round, but be good to boost that with one or two more before the third round. Choose wisely as they say, and we wont be too far off in another year or two.

The beginning of the end of Richmond - or is it?

Slow news day?
The B&Fs were removed as there was little evidence to support them, actually there was conflicting evidence so if / when it becomes crystal what happened then Im sure the awards will be made. Think we can trust Tigers like Emmett Dunne and Rhett Bartlett who have done enormous research on this.
The Jack Dyer Stand is being rebuilt and that’s long overdue. The museum will also be reinstated.
Lets hold off on the panic just at the minute.

'Proud history is under siege': The Tigers of old deserve better

Yep why not Kingsley. Easily the best coach at Punt Road right now. God knows what we’d be left with to carry Hardwick tho. Probably not the smartest decision in hindsight to re-sign Hardwick until the end of 2024 at the beginning of this season.

The unknown candidate who should take charge of the Pies

Not even close.

Horner contacted race director Michael Masi not the stewards and thats what was broadcast. Masi has no say over the stewards who are independent for ruling over disciplinary matters.

Red Bull boss slams Lewis Hamilton over Verstappen crash

Agree with Christian. Hamilton should’ve copped at least a 10sec stop go. Look out next race there will be some fighting to come. Expect Perez to get involved.

Red Bull boss slams Lewis Hamilton over Verstappen crash

Doubt its the Barrassi curse altho the year is right. Barassi left of his own accord to Carlton ultimately with his mentor’s blessing.

If you want to use the Bambino then the comparable story is the 1965 mid season sacking of that mentor Norm Smith when the Fuchsias were 9-3. Both the Bambino and Smith (six flags as coach, four as a player) were disappointed in their respective clubs for not financially supporting them when they felt rightly they were worth it. Ultimately both clubs moved to get rid of their perceived problems. Red Sox by selling The Babe to the Yankees for the 1920 season and The Red Legs by sacking The Red Fox. (Maybe red is the problem!)

While Melbourne ultimately re-appointed Smith a little later, the damage had been done and they’ve never tasted ultimate success again.

Is it time to stick a fork in the Tigers?

Back into the woodwork and take your cheese & hors d’oeuvres platter with you. When did the Mighty Fuchsias last triumph? 1964 ???? Admittedly Tiges have only won eight flags since then.

And Gees wouldn’t it be terrible for the Fuchsias to go close this year. Only to fail. Again.

Is it time to stick a fork in the Tigers?

Nothing to do with Hardwick himself. Its the affect on the players (if any) that would make a difference. There are quite a few that were close to Mrs H so that would have some impact. Whether its actually cost us games who knows. Maybe but chances are we’ll never know.
What is factual is that:
– We have a lot of wounded this year and unlike previous years we keep losing them, not getting them back;
– Our best are not getting any younger;
– Other teams seem to have worked us out (especially D Martin who may be playing injured);
– Regardless of what the players say, the hunger isnt there as it was in 2017. Thats just human nature, nothing more.

Hope we make the best of the draft picks – hate to see them wasted trying to keep in the proverbial ‘window’.

Is it time to stick a fork in the Tigers?

Another Scott whinge… perhaps he may have a point but the ceaseless whining year in year out from KP dilutes the content and context of the messages…AKA Boy Cries Wolf. The game time is no different to 2019 and is the same for all clubs right at the minute.

Thursday night footy is great and a must have imo every round going forward. So Im all for tweaking the rules around time-on eg no time off for stoppages in the first half, but have the open conversation at season’s end with all affected parties together.

Chris Scott displeased with having to manage star players due to match length

Absolutely ridiculous decision and a reflection of a highly incompetent state government.

– We are talking November when a significant portion of the population is expected to be vaccinated. Certainly a healthy majority of the most vulnerable in the population.
– More than 90% of the GP teams and administrators are already vaccinated. That figure will increase by November.
-The teams and associates are more than willing to hub like they do now in Europe.
– The Austrian race had significant spectator entry and the British at Silverstone on Sunday week is expected to be full.
– There have been no deaths in Australia in 2021 as a result of community transmission and ICU admission has been extremely rare. The now prevalent Delta variant is showing high transmission but lower than previous impact. At some point Australia and its governments will need to acknowledge that like all annual influenza outbreaks, COVID strains are part of life.

Ultimately this is about the incompetent Andrews government trying to win votes. The race itself has always been politically controversial at Albert Park and this is a way of removing that distraction prior to an election year, coupled with other experiences around the country of ‘strong’ state governments winning re-election mandates during COVID.

Australian Grand Prix officially cancelled again

The only problem with Melbourne is the incompetent state government. There is no valid reason why the circus cant get to Melbourne safely in November especially allowing for increased rates of vaccine (including all those in the teams) and the experiences learned (by both the sport and local crowd management) over what by then will be the best part of two years. If we can get 85% returned to the MCG next week and continue that through AFL finals its really difficult to understand why we couldn’t exercise a bit of common sense and work out a solution.
But i guess the thing with common sense – it aint very common is it, especially with this government…??

The decision Formula One should make on the 2021 calendar

Another anti Collingwood article Les.
Why don’t you tell us who the next coach will be, and why they will take The Collingwoods to a flag…?

Exposing the myth of Collingwood's succession plan

Sorry Caro you have no clue on this one. EOS.

Garry Lyon takes aim at Caro over insensitive comments towards St Kilda players

Best wishes to Bucks. Lots of respect. Wouldn’t be surprised if he goes into the media for a little while and as for coaching, perhaps looks at a senior assistant role at some point to ease back.

The Collingwoods have done this to get ahead of def one perhaps two clubs in the coach search stakes. And Browne apparently is a Bucks man so interesting political move too.

Pies will want to talk with Lyon, Clarkson and B Scott. Lot of space between them and anyone else including Harvs youd reckon.

Buckley stepping down as Collingwood coach

Dont disagree with anything youve said PD but in this case the question Robinson asked is legimate and Lyon jumped all over it for personal reasons. Swans were probably the most to blame here for a thoughtless defence. Glad The Flea never used it in his many tribunal appearances (not that it would have been the case anyways as he was always innocent).

Lyon vs Robinson: This round goes to Robbo

Much as i hate to say it, i think Kane Cornes could be on the money. CCJ is part of the future. Jack would be an excellent coach and maybe RFC can offer him a line or development role especially with increase in soft cap coming.

The Richmond star that Kane Cornes thinks is past it

Good read Christy. Im not a Robbo fan, but he asked a logical & legitimate question: if a defense to a king hit is that the player cant control himself (regardless whether the reason is medical or not), then why would he ever be trusted back on the field?

Garry Lyon is just about the most arrogant, overrated and over-hyped commentator going around with an ego that’s Eddie-esque. Im sure most of us know a diabetic or two but that doesn’t give him the right to try and over-ride a logical question with psuedo self-righteousness just because it comes from someone he doesn’t like. On The Couch was so much better with Paul Roos (who even then has a fairly healthy ego).

Lyon vs Robinson: This round goes to Robbo

Good idea, we’re sitting ninth and I dont like the smell of it… cancel cancel cancel.

AFL fixtures in chaos with Tigers-Crows match moved to Sydney

Didnt this one come from an SA quarantine hotel?

AFL fixtures in chaos with Tigers-Crows match moved to Sydney

Yes six RFC premiership players out, everyone of them a walk up start at the perennial ladder-topping Fremantle ‘football’ team. Sure, being a walk up start at Fremantle doesn’t mean much but there you go.
Sorry we shouldn’t be too harsh on Freo… they’re having their best season since 1994!

Anycase can’t see the Tigers winning this one unfortunately.

Premiership favourites set to roar in Brisvegas this Friday night

Don the perennial genius as usual… Freo games in Melbourne should be played at Casey Fields.

Premiership favourites set to roar in Brisvegas this Friday night

A good read Les and a balanced view from a Magpie. Totally agree Im sick of listening to Eddie lambast anyone or anything that doesnt agree with his always right world view. I struggle to listen to him commentate let alone pontificate on any medium he can get his face. But he’s no longer Prez now so that at least is a good step forward for the club.

More importantly, with Jeff Browne apparently to challenge for President either at an EGM or the next AGM, and the crucial call on Bucks pending, it seems you’re right – there is probably more to play out over the next 12 months or so. The other Daicos’ drafting also seems problematic if it will send their drafting points into negative.

However while the short term may be perceived right now to be bleak I cant see a club like Collingwood with all its supporters, members and powerful backers undergo a bleak period like Melbourne from 1965 or even Carlton this century. The AFL too needs a strong Collingwood so while you may have one or two seasons of struggle the next dawn may not be too far away…

An open letter to Eddie McGuire

Im not sure. I backed the Swans in at ridiculous odds of $5 h2h in a two horse race. this was based on our slow starts over the last two years where we’d learned a big lesson from 2018 not to start fast and finish stumbling. It was also based on Swans form. It was also based on the fact that we had a month’s less in preseason (as had Geelong, Port and Brisbane who have all played at least one mediocre game this year). Importantly it was also based on the fact that we played our oldest side in around 90 years and we were playing against the fast running ‘kids’ of Sydney.
In 35deg heat, probably closer to 40deg in the sun which no one seems to think was a factor. Not to mention the Meatball down early with no like replacement.

No, these are not excuses, but they are legitimate reasons rightly or wrongly that contributed to the loss in some way.

Whether the Tigers can build over the season we shall see, but like Patrick Cripps ‘gone’, Geelong ‘gone’ et al, lets wait until after round 7 before we start making judgements.

The game has moved away from Richmond

Sigh…
