I am a test cricket devotee. I love to keep to keep an eagle eye on the current happenings of the game & try to induce more light on the areas of the game that aren't on everyone's radar.

I appreciate your opinion. You state the fact that Harsha Bhogle talks about how Indian society has changed & how it’s involved cricket in India. Well, firstly there are many facets to his commentary. He is the lonely commentator in India who has the audacity to go out of the box and dictate/discuss stories or tales from the greats of the game in cricket. Even for him, Test cricket gives you an opportunity of how well story telling can take place when nothing much is happening on the 22 yards.

I am aghast to hear that Bill Lawry is someone that irritates you. Well, he has been the flag bearer along with Richie Benaud to take the Australian commentary ship forward. With Tony Greig’s heavenly departure one just can’t wonder how the new Australian troops are going to make amends in the commentary box. Mark Nicholas is one fine gentleman who makes sure that there is a certain attachment for the viewer. He is currently that rare commentator who has an amalgamation of brilliant command over the language and keeps an eagle eye on the game. Sadly, Healy & to a much more extent Slator aren’t on that level anymore.

Glenn Mcgrath is a phenom; he is a brilliant writer of the game. The whole of India is appreciating his pieces in TOI each day. But, though in his initial days as a commentator he wasn’t able to put across his views that would have been enough to capture the audience.

I even stated in the article that both Chappell as well Holding are good when they aren’t doing commentary for their respective teams. They both & I say that on behalf of the cricket lovers in India are loved so much not only because of their thoughts on the game but even when they draw a brilliant analogy on quite a few occasions. Many still remember Ian Chappell talking about Keith Miller and portrayed his fighting spirit to that of Dhoni when he wasn’t able to find gaps and had consumed so much deliveries in Tests but was still hanging on.

What I tried to portray to everyone in this article was how the current situation was bad and what is the way to help improve this situation. A new face maybe a non-cricketer who is passionate about the game be made sure that he enters the arena with the legends. A fresh prospective or some might say a common man in the comm box is the need of the hour.
