Moving to buy Alessio Cerci outright from Fiorentina was certainly promising and here’s hoping he can carry on last season’s form.
Their buys are quite interesting, having invested in players who have shown great potential at some stages of their careers but have not necessarily lived up to hype (or indeed been given the opportunities) in recent seasons.
Ciro Immobile was a great purchase who I think can certainly provide a big impact around the right team. Marcelo Larrondo and Omar El Kaddouri are in that similar bracket having not impressed at Fiorentina and Napoli respectively, however remain sensible buys for Torino.
Ogbonna is of course a loss but given last season’s interruptions with injury, his loss will not be felt as significantly as one might think.
They wouldn’t be my pick for a relegation spot as I certainly think there are clubs boasting far less talent and potential beneath them.
Plus who doesn’t enjoy having the Turin Derby back in the Serie A 🙂
Season Preview: Serie A's top contenders
Hey Davo. My predictions are based purely on my own objective opinions of each of the squads. Although most betting agencies do seem to have AC as the shortest priced favorites, or equal with Napoli, behind Juventus.
There is lots of question marks around Allegri agreed, however I just think their squad has too much quality not to be among the top three. Take away their shocking start last season, which they will surely not repeat, and from week 14 onward AC registered 17 wins… equal with Juventus.
In saying this, I am an Inter fan so am quite happy for you to disagree and indeed to be proved wrong!
Season Preview: Serie A's top contenders
Monaco has come out and said that a move to the Serie A, or infact joining any other Federation, would be impossible.
I believe that was more of a media-developed alternative.
AS Monaco’s taxing promotion to Ligue 1
Good to see some more coverage of Serie A!
It’s quite an interesting and necessary conversation to have for Italian football. At this point there is not enough of a consistent standard of youth programs amongst the Serie A clubs to develop a stand-alone reserve league.
I do love the idea of B teams however who would need to earn their place and start in the Lega Pro second divisions. To have that truly competitive experience above the Primavera league would be so beneficial for the players themselves, the clubs and Italian football.
Even after Inter’s Primavera side won the Next Gen series last season, there was such a noticeable gap when those players deputised for the first team. It would be so beneficial to see these youth players staying with the clubs that have developed them.
Should the Serie A adopt a reserve league?
To recap, Bayern have won 3-0 over Barcelona at Camp Nou.
Goals to Robben 48′, Pique (OG) 72′ and Muller 76′.
Bayern have progressed through to the final with an amazing 7-0 aggregate victory.
