It's hard to tell if some of Australia's Super Rugby teams actually have a deep desire to win - or are they satisfied just playing?
Some of the players don’t seem to have much of an emotional impact to losing.

Exclusive: Embattled chair asks for extension, Rugby Australia meet AGAIN as civil war breaks out
When he came in, he clearly wanted to help.
He thought PE would work
He thought Eddie would work
I was a believer to be honest, but they have been immense failures.
If either of those came off, he would’ve looked but brilliant and he backed it.
That’s great from a chairman.
Confidence and backing your team.
But wow, it back fired.
He knows it, it’s sad as his intentions are right up there, but he played a pair against 3 of a kind, 4 of a kind and flush.
And lost it all.
Hamish, your intentions are well noted and respected, no-one disputes that.
You placed all your eggs in one, two and three baskets!!!!
All failed.
By the way, I’m happy to jump in as Chairman.
Anyway look me up, I’d do better than than the previous 20 years.
It’s so bad now, unfortunately, I still love rugby and will convince people to keep following
For the love of the game
'No longer have any trust or faith': Rugby Australia chairman told to resign by SIX states, EGM looms with 'gloves off'
Agreed,
I like DC and what he is trying to bring, but got found wanting last year.
I agree with Mike88 though, he has some experience in galvanising a group.
2024 wil be telling though
The only way is up, baby - What the next Wallabies coaching setup should look like
Stop with the blame game Eddie,
Your 10 months was a debacle.
Yes governance has been an issue, but you destroyed it so quickly and had no intention of staying from the get go.
Here’s a question for you Eddie:
“Was this deliberate?”
“If so why”
No decent media commentator would ask it, but it certainly appears that way.
You put the nail in the coffin
'I am a better coach': Eddie's head-turning take, says several teams keen on him despite Wallabies flop
My view,
This has to be a massive stitch up.
If Eddie does this, it is seriously the worst thing in professional sport full stop.
To come in for 9 months and literally destroy a code and leave would be astounding.
If it’s true, Eddie will be considered a catch phrase.
If it’s not, he needs to slam it down quickly.
There’s a lot of smoke for sure, but to take an experienced team to a World Cup and jump ship 4 months after taking on the team in training would be detrimental to him personally.
If it’s true, it’s an absolute disgrace, forget RA and the “Hammer”. This is a personal sacrifice that deserves extermination
REPORT: Eddie Jones to quit Wallabies and join Japan as head coach
I see your point Wizz,
I actually put a foot in both camps.
Clearly Eddie has the group invested.
It must be really hard for a young bloke to understand the “responsibility” over the “experience”.
Not because they don’t care though, just because of the occasion.
I can’t see us winning unfortunately.
But if they do, it would be exactly what they need.
Fingers crossed.
Let’s get behind these guys.
The skill is there
'Spooked': Wallabies star reacts to Mitchell meltdown, as Campo claims youngsters 'don't understand importance' of WC
Unfortunately the team doesn’t matter anymore.
We are still going to give away double digit figure penalties.
Against any tier 1 and now tier 2, which we are in, nations, you simply won’t win.
Our discipline is just horrible.
Having said that, at least 5 penalties are given away in attack and threatening.
There is simply no patience
Wallabies CONFIRMED: Gordon benched as Eddie banks on Ben Donaldson, star returns for do-or-die RWC clash
What an awesome article Geoff,
I haven’t been to as many, but awesome highlights.
Watching Campo, run around Kirwan, Jonah, over everyone in 95 and the Boks embracing a nation
99 Larkham drop goal, but France demoralising the All Blacks, I was there. And didn’t get a call for at least a month from some of my best mates.
03, we were all there, what an event, the Poms were the best team without a doubt that year.
Keep in mind only 3 best countries have won a World Cup in a World Cup year.
NZ 1987
England 2003
NZ 2015
Others have come from behind.
Love those moments thought
The Wrap: Magical World Cup moments and memories that left an indelible mark, and the promise of so much more
I honestly think the Matilda’s have shown what women’s sport can do.
They have galvanised a nation of 29m.
They are more popular than their male counterparts, and they deserve more from the overall body, in Australia.
The reality is, women’s rugby, needs to create their own revenue.
I watched every Wallaroos game on Stan last World Cup.
RA has the worst publicity in all codes for men’s and women’s and needs to invest.
I have no doubt, the Wallaroos can gain similar exposure to 2029 if the networks are willing to give more exposure.
RA doesn’t have the funds
'Taking steps': RA responds to Wallaroos' social media anger over WAGs and funding gap
I don’t have an issue with EJ’s spray.
There wasn’t one question about any of the players he’s picked.
I would’ve picked QC over Donaldson and probably found a spot for Sio and Samu.
But there is no way the previous players would be any better than this squad.
To say otherwise is a joke.
A lot of media are loving it (see Matty John’s show).
The only ones who don’t are the negative Rugby Journalists.
'Hissy fit' or 'distraction'? How the rugby world reacted to Eddie Jones' 'tirade of abuse for the ages'
Point take. Jeznez,
I reckon the front row is an area of concern.
I would’ve picked him and QC, but his thought process is the same.
They haven’t performed on the international stage.
Logic is flawed, but understandable.
I would’ve picked Sio.
But I’m not the coach, and I do see EJ’s logic.
The older team didn’t stand a chance, this team probably doesn’t either, but at least they are fresh faces he can build.

Couldn’t agree more
'Give yourself upper cuts': Eddie furious at journos after 'worst press conference I've ever had'
My first thought was negative for EJ, but after thought, I’ve got to say he has a point, as do the media.
The Wallabies needed to go for youth and EJ is the only one with the guts to call it out.
Would Rennie have done it, no way.
The past players do have a negative mindset, that has been clear since 2011, let alone 2015.
Losing was ok.
The media have been extremely damaging to Rugby Union, especially League commentators, who outnumber union by about 10-1.
Could he have handled it differently?
YES
Is there more optimism with a youthful team than a disastrous one.
YES.
Is he nil from 4
YES
Has embraced youth?
YES
'Give yourself upper cuts': Eddie furious at journos after 'worst press conference I've ever had'
I reckon Lonergan for White is a no brainer.
White just makes the wrong decision all the time.
Lonergan is green, but he can also kick, why hasn’t Eddie given him a run
All Blacks smash Wallabies to seal Bledisloe AGAIN as Eddie's pain grows after devastating injury to star prop
Agreed, but didn’t have confidence in them.
Eddie is backing them.
I understand what you’re saying though.
Marky Mark, forced his way, Tate was behind White and Gordon who are robotic.
Eddie is trying to give exposure and expression.
I reckon Rennie wouldn’t have backed Tate and told Marky to rein it in.
Subtle differences.
Anyway, I’m sure I’m wrong again, but at least Eddie is giving youth a crack before the 2023 World Cup.
If you are going to lose it, why need develop, and in the off chance they click, it’s better than what we had.
It’s a win/win.
Can you tell me that White, AAA, Slipper, M Hooper and D Swain were going to give it any better crack than this crop?
I would suggest no
'Load of rubbish': Eddie slams Carter critique ahead of ABs rematch, says Wallabies must 'invest' in young 10
That first 20 minutes in the Bledisloe, was by far, the most entertaining rugby Australian rugby has put on the field in 10 years.
I doubt we will make an impact this year, but you can see what Eddie is trying to do.
Create what is playing in front of you.
Of course he will get frustrated with media, he’s had 3 games, but he is bringing in youth, a lot of these guys could be awesome.
Marky Mark, Carter Gordon, Tate McDermott, Tom Hooper, Angus Bell.
These guys barely got a start under Rennie
'Load of rubbish': Eddie slams Carter critique ahead of ABs rematch, says Wallabies must 'invest' in young 10
I reckon that’s harsh Bluesfan,
I don’t think we stood a chance with an old team, I think bringing in youth, is the only way forward.
I’m sure EJ is frustrated as well, but he might as well have a crack.
I didn’t think we would’ve got out of our pool under Rennie and I doubt it still now, but at least Eddie has changed an ageing team and telling reporters what he is doing.
Rennie barely spoke at all and kept the same players expecting different results.
Eddie is simply stating he is backing his youth, which ever other coach Odesa’s well

The yellow card for Tupou was a disgrace.
If you review the game, the All Blacks did the same thing at least 5 times.
Every other National team does the same, Australia is the only one penalised.
Julian did it twice
All Blacks smash Wallabies to seal Bledisloe AGAIN as Eddie's pain grows after devastating injury to star prop
Bobby D,
I understand what you’re saying, however, I guarantee NRL will Do this soon as well.
The law suit against Rugby is massive, if the same happened to Rugby League it would cripple Rugby League.
The numbers are to high. The difference with NRL is that almost every player, or family member agrees there is path these guys forged and don’t want to destroy it.
If one starts though, it would kill it.
The NRL are assisting all those of these guys, if one goes legal it would be massive.
The law suit in the UK is approaching significant numbers, if NRL players wanted to they could honestly cripple them as it’s not played anywhere else.
Having said that, they are so loyal to what they were given.
It only takes one to fall though
