Go Eagles!
However, if (when) we don’t make it, GO LIONS. Lions all the way.

Then: 3. Saints, 4. Bulldogs, 5. Cats, 6. Port.

Being 2020, you just know Tigers are going to win it. Just that sort of year.

What we learnt about your club this season

Hope Shep and Naitanui make the 22. (Ryan will be a lock).

Especially Shep. His recognition is long overdue.

Port Adelaide and Geelong dominate All Australian squad of 40

Jones looked good in his few appearances. Should stick.

Agree we will regret trading Brander down the line, but we’re in the premiership window still, with ticking clocks on Shuey, Shep, Nic Nat, Gov. we need an impact player now.

If Brander can’t even break into a side absolutely decimated by injuries after 3 years with us, doesn’t say much about him. And I’m not blaming him at all.

Love that Ainsworth has more or less found a role. He was beginning to look like another wasted pick, but appears he’ll be pretty handy.

Faages looks younger than him! And the limp doesn’t help.

From grand finalists to flag favourites to also-rans: the sad story behind the Giant downfall in 2020

Disagree. Wouldn’t call it a boring style at all – actually the opposite. More likely, it’s that word bandied around too much, “chaos”.

Tigers play the footy hunting in packs. Takes the joy out of it. Probably fun to play – as can clearly see Tigers genuinely enjoy their time on the field, but not fun to watch as a neutral.

Agreed, he’s my fave Bomber, and can’t believe he wasn’t AA last year.

Isn’t he going to Blues?

Feel like losing Cameron, when we already have a lack of smalls, would be detrimental.
Would rather trade Brander + we’d get more for Brander.

(When Brander is a superstar 3-5 years from now, I’ll be rueing my words… but for now, he’s just not there. And the kid has raw talent, very visible. But I don’t know why they keep playing him in the wrong position).

Seems like the club has failed him in his development tbh. (Not that I know enough about footy player development).

But why crash a pack and spoil JK or Ryan? Has happened a few times.

I think he’s useful and deserves another contract, but doesn’t appear like he’ll ever be first choice starting 22. Nevertheless, the continued games this season should help him.

Six talking points from AFL Round 18

Ainsworth, Williams, and Rotham have been pretty handy.

Williams looking very promising.

Should the club persevere with Brander? He’s been good in flashes, but could also be good trade currency.

Six talking points from AFL Round 18

Should have added Liam Ryan is a star, but can’t do all the work himself. We desperately need small forwards.

Personally don’t rate Ah Chee at all. He’s only playing because of the number of injuries we have.

Six talking points from AFL Round 18

Yeo is out for the year. We won’t see him till 2021. He hasn’t progressed as hoped unfortunately – remember, he was meant to be back for North Melbourne. Now, he won’t be back for the first final. His season is done – maybe unless we make the GF.

Anyway, Duggan can cover for him nicely. If we have Duggan, Redden, Sheed, Kelly, Shuey in the middle, and all fit and firing, we are fine.

Backline is ok – Rotham has been a great addition. Just need to fix forward line. Especially small forward issue. Without Rioli, Cameron (out of form), and Cripps not playing at his heights, we’ve been exposed most in that area.

Wow. Cameron to Cats? Scary good move.

Majak Daw among 11 AFL delistings at Kangaroos

Looking very exciting for next season. I think Serong wins Rising Star.

Any truth to (totally unsubstantiated) rumours of Mihocek joining Freo? If so, should be a lock for finals.

Six talking points from AFL Round 18

No sugar coating it, West Coast season 2020 done. Doesn’t matter if we finished 4th or 5th, we cannot keep up with the top 4 in Queensland. At Optus or MCG, would be GAME ON. But not QLD, and especially not without Yeo, or without Gov at 90-100%. Hope we come out firing in 2021.

As mentioned earlier, the boys owe Sheppard, Gaff, and Naitanui, and hope these three get a premiership medal in the next 2 years.

Cannot confidently call premiership favourites at this point. Will probably be Tigers.
Although I really really realllllllyyyyyyyyyy hope Lions get it. For Faagan’s sake, and also, they play exciting watchable football.

No offence to Richmond you’re very good, but watching angry bees swarm is not palatable footy, even if it wins games.

Six talking points from AFL Round 18

Who underrates Whitfield? Star, and always lauded.

Carlton missing Tom Papley is a blessing in disguise

Pessimistic, but don’t think the boys will make it past QF on current form.

Just too much has gone wrong, and a lot of key injuries (yes they’ll be back, but is form guaranteed?), and then QLD conditions which we can’t seem to adapt game style to, can’t keep up with fast hand-balling teams…

Not getting my hopes up. Can’t see us beating any of Port, Cats, Tigers, Lions, Bulldogs, or even Saints (?) at their best and firing + kicking accurately. We would need absolutely everything to go right – which almost never happens in footy. Especially for us in QLD.

Please please prove me wrong.

Hopefully next year we target top 4 and go hard from day 1. We didn’t in 2019 or 2020. Although 2020 gets a pass.

Eagle eyes on finals ramifications

Also, Adelaide a chance. Pride vs draft picks?? .. vs GF “revenge”?

Expect Richmond to rest the entire squad… tipped Richmond, but hope Crows put them through their paces.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 18

– GWS and Freo to get up.
GWS will get the job done, tipped GWS.
Will have to cheer on Freo from sidelines whilst tipping Bulldogs).

– Hawks

– Bombers for upset (Woosha send off, Melbourne good, but not thaaat good. Or consistent. Or trustworthy)

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 18

Steven May is worth every penny, and saved them yesterday. Wonder what would have been if they had May in 2018…

Anyway, in 2020, will first EF be:
Eagles vs Dees at Optus?… payback?
Or
Eagles vs Pies at Optus? … (also payback)

or vs Dogs? Vs GWS?

Personally hope first EF is against GWS at Optus, with their bad record on the road. Pies, Bulldogs, Dees all dangerous (especially Bulldogs).

Finals or not, Demons future looks bright

Playing Rohan seems risky.

Hope doesn’t cost him finals.

Friday night forecast: Geelong vs Richmond

Agreed on crowd tips above, except:
– West Coast – thank goodness I took the risk.
– Melbourne (over GWS)

Upset of the round potentially Hawthorn. But not brave enough to tip this.

Gold Coast and Adelaide to also have a good crack, but doubt they win.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Rounds 17

Now that would be interesting!

Gone with Cats.

Friday night forecast: Geelong vs Richmond

Well… ‘tis a 50:50 game, hopefully lives up to the hype.

Desperately want Cats to win. Heart says Cats, head says Tigers. And the Cats are in great form right now. So definitely worth tipping.

Friday night forecast: Geelong vs Richmond

His tears walking off were very sad to watch. I hope there’s a better ending for him this year.

Friday night forecast: Geelong vs Richmond

Understand what you mean by Richmond Gear, but would also say this about Geelong in the last few weeks.

Richmond’s greatest asset is fear. They instill great fear in opponents, most dread facing them. That psychological one-up is huge.
