7/10. That's my score for Ewen McKenzie in his first year as coach of the Wallabies. This may seem quite generous for a coach…
By all accounts, Bledisloe three was a cracking game. Fast, free-flowing rugby from two of the world's top rugby nations (cue the claims Australia…
Saturday's Super Rugby qualifying final between the Crusaders and Reds was a great display of rugby. I have no doubt the Chiefs will be…
“We’ve got the final that most Aussie’s wanted”…. clearly I’m in the minority then as I was hoping for a Wallabies v Namibia final… far less stressful than going up against the All Blacks!
C'mon New Zealand, put the Bledisloe on the line this weekend
All Blacks will also be quite bruised from their encounter with SA, although they do have an extra day to recover… another area we need to improve not mentioned above is our kick-chase which is STILL non-existent… every time we boot the ball there is no one putting pressure on the catcher… NZ have the best counter-attackers in the business, we can’t afford to give them time and space to run it back.
Five talking points from the Wallabies' win over Argentina
Hoping to see South Africa put in the game of their lives and progress to the final with nothing left in the tank for next week so either Australia or Argentina win 🙂
Even more than that, I really want to see the All Blacks perform the Haka in sumo outfits!!!
Rugby World Cup semi-final preview: South Africa vs New Zealand
Why does Slipper and Sio lose 2 points for the 1st try and Foley loses only 1 for the try he singlehandedly conceded?
DIY Player Ratings: Wallabies vs Scotland - the results
well, if the Scots (supporters and captain in particular during the post match interview) simply acknowledged their opponents and wished the Wallabies luck in the semi-finals instead of whinging about a decision that cost them the game in isolation of multiple other decisions that went the other way, then maybe the Australians on this site wouldn’t feel the need to defend our right to be in the semi-final, and would have a little more time to feel sorry for the kilts…. sorry, but my respect for scottish rugby has taken a massive dive after this incident. I’m sure the Poms would be the same, but you’d never see the Irish or Welsh carrying on like this…
SPIRO: Joubert has been dudded by World Rugby for correct call
This is just getting sillier and sillier…
Australian players should shoulder some blame in Joubert call
Finished it… still waiting for another serving but the usual suspects have unfortunately reverted to their usual form…
What a difference one or two key players make
Biggest mistake Cheika has made this RWC is favouring Hooper/McMahon over Goerge Smith.
Favoritism almost put the Wallabies out of the competition in what would have been our worst RWC performance ever, but for a crucial mistake by the referee that gifted us the game….
Give Ben McCalman a shot at starting No.8 against Argentina
“Why can’t we have a 7 and an 8 who play hard at the ball?”
Because Cheika thought we didn’t need to bring in George Smith…
What a difference one or two key players make
Was the poor performance due to missing Pocock and Folau or due to the team not being as focused as they should have been? I read somewhere that Cheika suggested it was the latter… I’m sure Pocock would have made a difference being Pocock, but I think even with his presence it may have only been a 5-10 point win and not the complete drubbing you’d expect this team to dish out at their best….
What a difference one or two key players make
Wasn’t blaming Sio…. I rate him highly, but he was having a tough time out there and it would have been pretty sensible to give him a rest I thought…
Rugby World Cup: Southern semi-finals confirmed, as Scotland leave Wallabies with plenty to work on
Fardy and McCalman? I thought it was primarily the 7’s job?
QC has a better kicking % out wide than Foley by some margin… regardless, the fact is that the Scots were vulnerable out wide and this would have been the perfect opposition for Cooper to exploit that weakness with his long passing… probably would have scored 7 or 8 tries with Cooper directing play and those sideline kicks wouldn’t have even come into the equation.
Five talking points from the Wallabies' win over Scotland
he should have been relatively fresh after a week off last week as well…. disappointing…
Five talking points from the Wallabies' win over Scotland
Patrick, can you explain why I’ve been publicly singled out to give it a rest? Were others that made similar or in fact far worse and repetitive comments following Quade’s game against Uruguay, were they also told to give it a rest at the time? A little consistency would be appreciated, but then again this is rugby and the moderators are like the judiciary, you never know what you’re going to get…
Five talking points from the Wallabies' win over Scotland
Just stating the bleeding obvious Phil… I’m sure the coaching staff know more than just a little more about rugby than I do, but that doesn’t mean they are making the right decisions… Substitutions in this game were non-existent and frankly quite d@ft… we’re very, very lucky to be still in the hunt and Foley was the single biggest reason by some margin that we almost choked.. if you’re happy to accept mediocrity that’s fine… I personally think we can do a lot better and would like to see players chosen that can deliver the potential we have.
Five talking points from the Wallabies' win over Scotland
Cheika was off his game as much as the players were… that was the poorest use of the bench since Robbie Deans was in charge… Foley should have been hooked at half time along with Sio… I’ve said it before that Cheika’s favoritism and stubborness will cost the Wallabies at this World Cup and it almost did!
Rugby World Cup: Southern semi-finals confirmed, as Scotland leave Wallabies with plenty to work on
4) because our designated 10 is utterly useless so someone had to fill the role!
Five talking points from the Wallabies' win over Scotland
Depends how you define “out of his depth”…. I’d say is consistently unreliable…
Five talking points from the Wallabies' win over Scotland
But like when you judge Cooper’s mistakes and everything becomes a plural aye?
Five talking points from the Wallabies' win over Scotland
Usual suspects making excuses for Foley and trying to find positives in a woeful effort as well…. let’s call a spade a spade. That was a shocker by any standards, in fact, find me a game where Quade played worse and I’ll write a public apology to all of Foley’s fanbois.. sure, Quade has made similar mistakes in various games, dropped balls, missed kicks, charge downs, but he also has creates opportunities and does things you can only describe as “genius” at times, even on his bad days… Foley was just cr@p and had no redeeming moments other than a regulation kick at the death. All I ask is that you lot judge this performance as you would judge it if Quade had been playing….
Five talking points from the Wallabies' win over Scotland
No mention about Foley’s awful performance? Sure his kick at the death all but sealed it for us, but if he’d kicked the half dozen or so conversions and penalties he missed, and hadn’t gifted Scotalnd 7 points from a charge down, we wouldn’t have been in that position in the first place! Singing his praises after what now looks to have been a “one hit wonder” performance against England was clearly a mistake… he was ordinary against Wales and now simply dreadful against the Scots… we’ll struggle if he’s starting next week and have no hope if we get through that and have to face SA or NZ in the final…
Five talking points from the Wallabies' win over Scotland
Cheika messed up BIG time not replacing Sio at half time as it was clear he was struggling… now he could be out for the rest of the tournament… onya Cheika… and what was with picking Cooper and Toomua on the bench if they were never going to be used… would have won the game with ease if Cooper had been playing… I regret singing Foley’s praises prematurely after the England game. The bloke is a liability…
Wallabies break Scottish hearts with last-minute win at Twickenham
credit where it’s due? Well it certainly isn’t due to Foley who almost single handedly lost us that game with poor everything… he was great against England, average against Wales and now absolutely appalling against Scotland… surely he can’t start against the Argies next week. No hope of winning this cup with him at 10….
Wallabies break Scottish hearts with last-minute win at Twickenham
Foley did alright in 7’s and he’s a worse tackler than Cooper….
Cooper's selection adds intrigue to Wallabies line-up
I agree Harry. I think this game will be either won by another Herculean effort by Pocock, or lost by another abysmal performance by Foley…. desperately need him to play like he did against England and not like he did last time he ran out against the darkness…
