We don’t need more seats at the Gabba, we need better facilities. Personally, I’d prefer a slight downsize in seating, but better facilities. And get rid of the members area, hardly anyone sits there.
Tired Gabba in need of facelift
personally I think a test only player will be remembered more than a limited overs specialist.
Are Test-only players a thing of the past?
I think for international matches we need neutral groundsman, like neutral umpires. Also, remove the toss and let the away team inspect the pitch and choose whether to bat or bowl. That will get rid of doctoring and prevent the porridge at cardiff and the shirtfront at lords
Pitch doctoring is just not cricket
expect liverpool FC fans to start their own country in a couple of decades 🙂
Is sport losing its romance?
22 points. I like how most of these sports are nerd sports 🙂
How big of a sports nerd are you? Take the quiz to find out.
Martin Brundle has always preached the danger of having a john deere on track. That was the biggest mistake arguably. I think we need to have floodlights on standby at twilight races to ensure that the light stays as the rain comes. In addition to that, we need a way to safely remove F1 cars in heavy conditions. I saw a concept recently featuring a movable frame that can be moved over the car
Had Formula One become complacent with safety?
Wheres Gary Pratt? Best substitute fielder in the world!

Indycar is slowly dying off. Despite the racing being fantastic, these poor management decisions and the contracted series are slowly killing it off. Personally, I’d prefer Indycar to abandon America apart from Indy and Long Beach and race in Europe and back on the gold coast but Bernie Ecclestone would do something good in the world before that happens
New competitor conduct guidelines a major step back for IndyCar
I like the idea of home and away legs over a full year, problem is scheduling. The thing that made UEFA work is that football has dedicated club and international seasons, something that is impossible for cricket.
Champions League T20: A flawed idea from the start
Thats a great idea! We don’t really use the A teams anyway.
Could a Davis Cup-type structure fix Test cricket?
Interesting how that same excitement was seen during the 80s with Mighty West Indians. That is the kind of excitement seen when watching Australia and New Zealand. If the West Indies had that controlled aggression today test cricket in the Windies would be in a much better state.
I would say T20 is the true global version of the game, the version that any country can play. It provides the most level playing field because of the short time span and unpredictable nature of the game. Its probably going to be the version of cricket played at the Olympics. T20 has done wonders spreading the game around the world, but it has also killed off Test cricket in places like the West Indies. Its a double edged sword.
Could a Davis Cup-type structure fix Test cricket?
The actual game is fine. Just the crowds are starting to disappear in the lower ranked nations. My main idea was to create another reason for test cricket to exist because unfortunately, the main reason it exists just doesn’t satisfy the crowds in those countries
Could a Davis Cup-type structure fix Test cricket?
Thanks for your comment. This isn’t a fully fleshed out idea and still has room for improvement 🙂
Could a Davis Cup-type structure fix Test cricket?
Remember, Each year at the beginning the highest ranked teams play the lowest ranked teams in a 3 match series.
Last year Bangladesh only played 5 tests, all of them against low ranked teams. Similarly last year Zimbabwe only played 4 tests, only one of which was against a top level team (South Africa) and this year they will play no tests at all. The current tour program already ignores these teams. With this system they would be playing at least 3 tests against top quality teams.
The odds of a top 12 team dropping out to an associate team is also incredibly small. The West Indies may be struggling but I think even they will put up some fight to a country like the Netherlands over 3 tests. The gulf in skill between associates and top level teams in the world cup was pretty clear (with the exception of Ireland, who by this point are basically ready for test cricket).
If we use this format its not like all the bottom 6 teams are going to fall off the map. Just because it can happen, doesn’t mean it will happen.
Also, The Ashes will still be around. England aren’t that bad 🙂
Still, thanks for the comment, love to generate debate 🙂
Could a Davis Cup-type structure fix Test cricket?
Good Point. However that could also be the kick in the backside Test Cricket needs in that country for teams to improve. They can always fight their way back next year. Its very much a survival of the fittest structure. The trade off is test cricket grows in other nations. It might seem a bit harsh, but this system says that no-one, no matter how good they were, no matter their history, is safe from demotion if they don’t perform. But yeah good point and thanks for reading!
Could a Davis Cup-type structure fix Test cricket?
Thanks for the kind words! Its a shame Nico H can’t get a good seat at the moment. It just shows how much talent and competition there is in Formula 1 with a quarter of the field having won the driver’s championship. Luckily for him he’s not in Fernando Alonso’s position 🙂
Your guide to the Formula One silly season
In a ideal world Ten would show the sunday race of each weekend live and show the other quali sessions and races on delay. Fox gets exclusive rights to all the supports and every event live. That means you can watch every race but only half will be live.
How is the new V8 Supercars television deal tracking?
There are probably more nations than baseball though and it got a place until 2012
Why cricket needs to be part of the Olympics
