Kellaway … or don’t you watch the Rebels …?

Brumbies knock over Hurricanes in statement win as Wright shines again behind forward pack

My wife now shuts all the doors and windows to the lounge room when I’m watching Aussie SR teams play the Kiwis and asks why do I punish myself …… and the neighbours.

Tahs' season hanging by a thread after Chiefs go whack to post bonus point win

Nah mate, we don’t celebrate being fat, that upsets the nutritionists. Nowadays it’s a criminal offence to ‘fat shame’. Fat shaming causes mental health issues, just like quoting the bible

Five things we learned: Schmidt's selection headache, Carter's a No.12 wildcard, and $1m Thor must step up

Agreed, but come on fellas, Eddie provided some magical comic relief, I miss that !

'Everything was approved': Eddie hits back at $2.6m RWC budget blow-out, says Wallabies can build team around young gun

Exactly, what organisation let alone one as big as RA allows any employee unapproved access to their bank accounts ? If that employee ( eg EJ) has a RA platinum credit card or cheque book then surely the accountant/s would be onto pretty quickly and inform the hierarchy.

'Everything was approved': Eddie hits back at $2.6m RWC budget blow-out, says Wallabies can build team around young gun

To quote what is often heard in the workforce, “ No one is irreplaceable “.
While that maybe true for the vast majority, it’s not the case for likes of McCaw, Carter, Folau etc.
None of those names mentioned are absolute world beaters, especially the likes of Petaia.
If they want to go only for the money let them go … who cares !

RA reeling and facing a mass exodus of biggest stars - there are three key reasons why they're in peril

“That includes the recruitment of Peter Horne as Director of High-Performance, David Nucifora as a High-Performance Advisor “
Ok, someone please educate me ? Surely only one of these positions are needed?
You have a HP director and a HP Advisor, so what does the Advisor actually do that the Director can’t?
One thing that stood out in the Stan Doco about Eddie and the Wallabies ( good and amusing viewing may I add) were the number of team officials/whatever around the table ! When I hit ‘pause’ to count I realised there were others I’d seen during games etc that weren’t there !
My wife hit the nail on the head when she asked “ What do all these people do?”
No wonder RA struggles financially, the salaries paid to every man/woman and their dog must be huge !
I don’t see anything in the recommendations about some culling of needless positions ?!

Waugh reveals shocking $2.6 million unapproved budget blowout on Eddie Jones' World Cup debacle

Yep, Petaia’s injury is certainly a blessing. He has shown potential since before the RWC in Japan and hasn’t progressed. Admittedly he can at rare times produce a bit of X factor but otherwise skips and dances before turning the ball over , makes bad decisions and kicks poorly at times. He is a bench player at best

Super Rugby teams: Reds trio ruled out after brutal clash, Barrett ban revealed, Wallabies back for Tahs

I’ve noticed it a lot over the years, an exceptional player gets a couple of injuries and their form dwindles never to reach the same heights again. It’s understandable, lack of confidence and innate fear of the injury reoccurring

Super Rugby teams: Reds trio ruled out after brutal clash, Barrett ban revealed, Wallabies back for Tahs

All the talk about refs is amusing. The simple fact usually is that when your team loses it’s easy to blame the ref, when it wins the ref did a great job…. That will never change. I was a ref forty years ago and now envy the fact that the ref in the centre has 2 assistants running the line, cameras, videos and a TMO to help him/ her adjudicate. So whatever mistakes are made are mostly very marginal and require ridiculous close scrutiny, threrefore enraging the opposition supporters. Let’s be honest, if wasn’t for the replays and scrutiny the infringement would have been a none event years ago.
Besides, missed infringements adds to the crowds participation and after game discussion.

'No one backed us': $8 outsiders Waratahs upset Crusaders AGAIN as Edmed steps up to deliver famous win

You are right about one thing, there weren’t many 6’5” flankers or forwards running around in the 70s and 80s but by god there were plenty of tough blighters and to survive in the NSW country completions and Darwin you had to be able to give as good as you took in the scrums, rucks and mauls. Refs didn’t bother too much about genuine punch ups until things looked like getting out of control. These blokes running around today might be gym fit and big but have nothing on the tough guys of yesteryear

You must have read another article

COMMENT: In trading Greatest Showman for 'boring' and 'pragmatic' Sleepy Joe, RA gambling with game's future

I’m very disappointed with this article Tony, there must be some personal reason why you have almost written Schmidt off before he even starts. In fact, what you have to say about him is exactly the type of head coach we need after BS Eddie. Schmidt has been totally realistic about what he hopes to achieve, not sprouting bold claims. He is exactly what Australia needs and fans like me want to hear

You’ve hit the nail squarely on the head with your second reason. South Africa heading north had minimal impact on our game, we still have enough rigorous competition from our Kiwi cousins.
I went to one of those prestigious private schools in Sydney for 7 years. We only had 2 sports, cricket in summer and rugby in winter, both were compulsory. To play for the First 15 meant you were a god looked up to by all the younger lads. So to excel in Rugby ( not cricket) was the desire of the majority of students. So as a young man if I wanted to play sport in winter the only game I was familiar with was rugby, so that’s what I played.

Nowadays I visit my old school and there are a plethora of other sports to choose from, none compulsory. Rugby is still played but no longer has the status it once had.
One further point, as a teacher I got heavily involved in schoolboy rugby. The city I taught in had a strong schools competition with all 5 secondary schools having a full team. Now there is no schools rugby at all.
So the reasons for the demise of rugby not just in NSW is obvious

A disastrous decline: 10 Years since the Waratahs won the Super Rugby title and reasons behind growing list of problems

Well Christy you’ve done the right thing and written an article full of feel good positivity. Yes, some of your predictions have a chance of coming true ( I’m not bothered about what’s happening in the Northern Hemisphere), Schmidt needs to be head coach.
But the rest is fantasy unless RA and the franchises get serious about being inclusive. There are Fijian, Samoan, Tongan and Māoris Australians who pull on an indigenous jumper that doesn’t represent them, and these blokes make up a large proportion of the Wallaby squad.
AA,an Islander Australian, laid a boomerang his opponents feet ( the ABs)which of course was done with a sword in Medieval times as an act of surrender. Yes, it was a wonderful gesture which no doubt filled the team with pride and an enormous will to win …. Unfortunately my discussions with my Islander friends from my ol rugby days suggest otherwise.
Psychology is a huge part of building a team .

Wallabies to get new skipper, Bledisloe joy and shock Rugby Championship win: XV fearless predictions for 2024

Hhhmmmm, you can really open up a can of worms here, stuff that treads on woke toes. Culture, yes, which culture? I , and my mates, no longer go to see Super Rugby games or tests and fast forward to the kick off to escape the pregame grovel.
A huge percentage of all super squads plus Wallabies are Tongan, Samoan, Fijian and Māoris. But the Indigenous jumper only represented one culture, a culture represented by about 1% of the players if that.
I couldn’t believe it when after the Haka AA ( an Islander) laid a boomerang on the grass before the ABs. A gesture no different to laying a sword at the feet of your enemy to represent surrender. What a pitiful move, and surrender the Wallabies did in that game.
Gawd knows what is in store before games during the Lions tour and and …. The RWC in 2027 !
So if we want our representative teams to be cohesive, proud and play as one, be genuinely inclusive of the Islander lads.
Surely the Referendum has … woken some people up !?

'I took it hard': RWC heartache that saw snubbed Wallabies star get off the grid - and the inspiration driving him now

Some interesting selections but just seems like more of the same. We have to face the reality of the WC, the Wallabies poor performance wasn’t just about the coach, an expert builder can’t build a solid house with poor materials. The broom needs to be put to the current squad and look to the lads who performed in the U20s and others on the horizon. Scrap the overseas rule and throw the door open, it worked for South Africa. Leaving the door closed for Kiwis OS works because they have heaps of depth waiting in the wings. Put simply, it doesn’t 100% matter about who is selected as HC, he needs bricks to work with, not straw. But if there are only a few bricks available…….

Predicted Wallabies team in 2024: Eddie's outcasts back as halves, back-row battles heat up

Isn’t it an interesting mindset …. As soon as you see that Wayne Barnes is the ref you know it’s going to be a good and fair game. But if it’s one of the Two French refs you know you are in for a headache…. And your neighbours get concerned …

'Just a game, k---heads': Why world's top rugby ref has decided to give the game away

What is it about coaching sport at the elite level, it doesn’t matter how much of a failure you are or how many times you get sacked another country employs you ? It’s bizarre, as a CEO or the head of a major company or business, if you fail your career is finished. No corporation wants a loser or failure to lead their organisation. But the likes of ol Eddie gets sacked by Australia but gets employed by a major tier nation who then sack him …… but gets reemployed by Australia !? If Japan don’t take him perhaps he will be Razor’s assistant?? Please explain ?

Read it and weep: Eddie made Wallabies fans 'eat s--t' for 10 months - here's every bit of BS he uttered

I’m a passionate Wallaby supporter and Aussie but that red card for Cane was a travesty. I’ve watched him play from his early days in Super Rugby and almost every test, there is not a malicious bone in his body. It was accidental and no harm done, so a yellow at most. But to red card the captain in the biggest match in 4 years and a game to go down in history is simply wrong. If it was deliberate or even IF it put the Bok out of the game, like with Mbonambi then OK …but interestingly Frizell’s card remained a yellow. As Cane says, he will live with that pain forever.

THE GREATEST! Boks beat All Blacks in instant classic to claim record FOURTH RWC in controversial, dramatic final

I can’t believe this rubbish, have people let alone rugby players become so sensitive that they are seriously so concerned about a couple of words that it becomes a major international issue ? My dear ol grandma used to say ,” sticks and stones may break your bones but names will never hurt you “. I’ve experienced racial abuse for over 40 years when asked for money or a cigarette and simply found it amusing. But, I have to admit , if the same happened now at my workplace….. I’d milk it like most people do and reek the benefits.

England react with fury as Bok cleared by World Rugby after TWO racism allegations made by Tom Curry

The only misinformation I was aware of came from those more concerned about the vibe than the facts.

England's Curry accused Bongi Mbonambi of vile racial insult - but Boks fans have alternative explanation

So the lad is from Liverpool ?

England's Curry accused Bongi Mbonambi of vile racial insult - but Boks fans have alternative explanation

At least one person has commented on the fact the game was so stop and start that it was more like a game of American Football ( gridiron). If World Rugby is serious about improving the game as a spectacle then do something about the constant stoppages. We all know they are mostly fake and a tactic to disrupt the Opponents game plan and to rest the big forwards

UK VIEW: 'Utter heartbreak' for 'brilliant, cunning, courageous' Poms in WC semi 'undeservedly' won by Boks

I never thought I would be barracking so hard for The Boks ever again after the last WCs game against England. But the lead up to this Semi Final made it very easy because my respect for the England team and , in particular, their supporters has gone out the window. I had the misfortune of attending a Premier League soccer game in England some years ago and was forced to leave before half time due to the crowd’s behaviour and threat of violence. It appears from my personal experience that this attitude is sneaking into rugby. Good natured ribbing and sledging has always been a part of interaction between rugby fans and there’s never been the need to even think of separating them at venues. But what I’ve witnessed there may be a need to in the future.
I was over the moon to see the Boks win and to win the way they did…… great result
