It’s not logical when you look at the numbers. Funny how India took all 20 wickets without this mythical 5th bowling option that the Aus selectors think will solve all problems.

Labuschagne's Test selection is a farce

Why did they bring Hohns back in the first place? Farce!

7 100’s & 35 50’s at FC level says it all really. Glorified white ball player like Finch & the Marshes.

2 of the 3 have been guilty of the current policy for quiet some time

Labuschagne's Test selection is a farce

Amazing that India managed to take all 20 wickets in Melbourne without the help of a dedicated 5th bowler. 6 batsman with 1 being able to roll the arm over made our selectors look silly by picking a bits & pieces players who’s clearly not up to it.

The Australian selectors are grasping at straws adding Labuschagne to the SCG squad

Not surprising our fielding fell away considering we dropped our best fielder

The Liebke Ratings: Australia vs India, Third Test

Trevor Hohns – onto his 2nd stint as chair of the panel yet still has the prejudice from his 1st stint
Greg Chappell – if you’re young and know how to clear the front leg or throw you hands at every shot then you’re a chance to be picked otherwise forget about it
Justin Langer – Honesty & Character > Technique & Performance, really?

Excuse me, are you saying 'boo' or 'boo-urns'?

Burn’s FC record is better than 5 of our current top 6 so that’s not an argument

Time to name & shame the culprits

2 of those 3 are well past their used by date (and were appointed by the now jobless James Sutherland & Pat Howard) and the other one hasn’t filled me with confidence since taking over, considering the questionable selections of the last 5 tests we’ve played.
– Picking Finch as a red ball opener
– Burns being ignored after been thrown to the wolves in RSA
– Leaving Renshaw out due to lack of match practice
– Labuschagne over Maxwell
– Handling of Maxwell RE County Cricket, Australia A Tour & UAE Tour
– Head earning a spot after 80-odd FC games with 7 100’s at an average of 35
– Persisting with S Marsh
– M Marsh replacing a batsman when our batting is our weak point
– Labuschagne again
If you think back longer they’ve made these same mistakes over & over and keep picking these players hoping they come good to justify the selection, forgetting that their job is to pick the best side not just trying to justify their selections.

JL said he wants players to earn their place yet makes selections to the contrary or because they’re a good bloke. Sooner or later, runs & wickets have to start making an impact on selection instead of purely just character or what a player could potentially do. CA seems to forget that our test side is meant to be our elite players not the up-and-comers.

I’m sure I’m not the only one that’s fed up.

I’m willing to let him off considering he was injured and missed shield games. He’s come in underdone against a quality attack

What's wrong with the baggy greens?

They don’t want to admit they got in wrong either so we’ve ended up in a loop of mediocrity

What's wrong with the baggy greens?

It is possible to make the ball swing without cheating, just not as easy. The ability of the bowler helps too.

I'm not calling Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft liars, but...

Time to give up on S Marsh. No matter how depleted we are it’s just not worth carrying him anymore

At least our bowlers got a good rest in the first innings…

What’s the point of being able to make 150 if the rest of your scores are all under 40?

Tim Paine has treated the faithful with double talk

There’s nothing mindless about the yapping. Test cricket is as much a test of a players mental strength as it is of their cricketing ability.

Are stump microphones good for cricket?

Under-rated comment

Where to now for the Central Coast Mariners?

This dunce clearly doesn’t realise how mickey mouse the SPL is
Celtic + Rangers = 103 championships
Rest of Scotland = 19 championships
Last non-Glasglow winner = Aberdeen in 84/85, 33 years ago
SPL ranked 26th in Europe in 2018; behind the national leagues of Czech Republic, Greece, Israel, Cyprus (!), Romania, Poland, Azerbaijan (!!) and Bulgaria

Time for a nap Chris

Scottish commentator unloads on "Mickey Mouse" Socceroos over Tom Rogic's availability

It’s easy to rule some of these guys out:

Finch isn’t a red ball opener and never will be
Bancroft isn’t much different to Harris or Renshaw so he needs to bring something else to the table
Burns would be the most suited to opening for Aus but the selectors do not like him
Warner’s relationship with CA is still rocky so not sure if he’ll come back. I’d bring him in though

That leaves Harris & Renshaw to open in my opinion. Knowing these selectors though Finch will remain and Bancroft will be rushed back considering he’s mates with Langer.

Bancroft's return adds to Ashes puzzle

If Maxwell had been given the same chances Marsh & Marsh had then he’d be a regular fixture in the side, his century in Ranchi is enough to prove that. His bowling is not at test standard but his fielding is better than anyone else in the world. If he was batting at 6 he’d be the new Gilchrist.

The misconception of Glenn Maxwell

I wonder if all the wowsers on here calling for life bans have ever made mistakes before? Honestly, it’s just a game of cricket and as far as I’m concerned once their bans are up it’s time to move on from this.

A remorseful Steve Smith comes clean

In the selectors eyes it’s probably enough for him to get a run in the test side for 12-24 months. Won’t pass the pub test though.

Mitch Marsh continues his batting struggles with a nightmare shot

Not sure why the FFA has to be responsible for another confederation’s only professional team. Australia moved into the AFC in 2006 yet still want to cling onto the last remain trace of our history of the OFC through the Nix. IMO opinion we should be putting more focus into our own backyard & connecting with the rest of Asia instead of trying to be the hero for our failing little brother. FIFA aren’t too happy about the arrangement either and last time I checked they make the rules not us.

The Phoenix's problem? They're the outsiders
