O’Brien seems to be ensuring that his spine has some insurance this season. I am not sure at this stage however who he’s options are on general utility players from the bench and who will replace Dom Young on the wing

Trial Takeaways: Bunnies too strong for Dragons, Young taken to hospital, Raiders romp away from Eels, Cogger impresses

It’s not all bad being left out. The Knights started to slowly get into form afterwards without being noticed. I thought the Knights would be left out every year because last years — Quote ” There is not much interest for the Newcastle team in Queensland” unquote. — With the Dragons there certainly is

Dragons set to be left out of NRL's Magic Round as 2024 draw gets closer to release

No room for the Southwell sisters ? Jesse was the outstanding halfback this year.

Jillaroos squad: Upton rewarded for stellar form with debut as Donald sticks solid with World Cup stars for Kiwi Ferns clashes

Nah the big difference is Tamika Upton — all class. With Yasmin Clydesdale running off her an excellent spine and a Knights pack that can muscle up to the Titans I think Newie will get home.

NRLW Grand Final Preview: Junkyard dog Titans have enough mongrel to put the bite on Knights

Yes if you watch the quality of the AFLW 18 teams there is clearly a huge drop of in quality between Melbourne Brisbane and Adelaide and the rest of the teams going around. The exiting thing about NRLW is that contests are close and scoring except for a couple have not been huge blowouts also tries and goals are occurring at a natural pace at the same frequency as the men. In comparison to the desert of low scoring that is AFLW. I am astonished how well the kicking game has improved over the last couple of years in NRLW especially the use of the chip and chase and the in goal grubber.- that takes skill. The sideline conversion kicks have improved as well.

NRLW Semi-finals: They cannot be serious - time to press pause on any expansion plans

Knights seem to have poor second halves this year — is that due to fitness or just a lack of concentration?

NRLW Round 6: Ali broken but unbowed as Broncos roll Raiders, Titans negate Teagan's four-try haul, Parra off the mark

Hastings out and Best coming back from injury -Ponga panics when its all left up to him – Souths are deservedly favourites.

NRL round 25 midweek talking points: The weaker clubs get picked off, but a bye can save the day

I think Walker and Teddy made the difference to Best. At club level for Newcastle he is woefully inconsistent –maybe its time for him to move on to a better team and a better coach.

Blues save Best till last as Bradman runs amok to deny Maroons series clean sweep, both coaches could head for exit

Thank you Ben

This cheered me up immensely. Although having read various threads from the English public on the subject it looks tame in comparison.

The spirit of cricket was murdered in cold blood by sunburnt thugs - and the game might never recover

So does Des get another crack?

Jason Ryles was the perfect fit for Dragons. His rejection shows why they've replaced Tigers as NRL's basket case

Cant be Easts cant be the Tigers Perhaps not even Brisbane
The Whatchamacallits?
The –you know — them?

NRL News: Surprise new expansion bid launched, Walker holds out hope for Origin, Dragons confident Hunt will stay

Defence is still very porous from the Knights – Which is suppose to be O’Briens strength as a coach. I suspect a hard reality check is coming next week when they take on Penrith.

ANALYSIS: Backline dominance delivers Knights win, despite another valiant Warriors showing as injuries kick in

I think another team could come out of South East Queensland. The Broncs really got what they wanted with Redcliffe who traditionally aren’t in the rapid expanding areas of the Region. Another team to the South like the Firebirds or the Jets going it alone would be a better option.

Relocation unlikely to ever happen in NRL expansion as cashed-up Sydney clubs will never give up their turf

Very true —the AFL I hear in QLD are perhaps taking over at school boy levels there. But even travelling around the Hunter, New England and the Central West as I do I have seen over the last decade in the schools the H goal posts gradually being replaced by the Chopsticks.

Rugby league dominates, but how well is the AFL doing in Sydney?

The hapless Knights beat Easts in the same fixture last year — it takes a few games for the Chooks to get going — When you can afford the Depth they have then they will be in the finals –again. The NRL need a local area weighted draft to spread the talent around

ANALYSIS: Bennett's back baby! Dolphins shock NRL as Roosters have their pants pulled down

Didn’t like his attitude at the press conferences last year when we were getting flogged — shrug of the shoulders and not my fault. Brownie at least would apologise

The Sack Race: How the draw is shaping up for the coaches under pressure at the start of 2023

Best gets injured a lot – like Ponga

Round 1 Predicted Teams - Broncos: Walsh in doubt after suffering facial fracture

Not that likely for Perth– I dont think they’re done with an Expanding South Brisbane Logan City – Ipswich area just yet

Jillaroos vs Ferns shows us the Warriors must return to the NRLW

Sort of understandable – no body much shows up to McDonald Jones to watch the Sharks or Titans or the Warriors go round. I’ve met a few Sydney-siders Queenslanders and Canberrans who think Newie or Easts or the Gold Coast shouldn’t be in the comp because they have little interest -its up to the Local fans to support their team which we in the Hunter do — not waste their time on the pique of others.

Magic Round 2023: Watch the NRL make a team disappear

I think it is the result of the Covid lockdowns has made Pokie receipts in the region take a downturn — but I have heard that of the 4 clubs Newcastle, Mayfield, Cardiff and NewLambton (HQ) that the West Group are trying to sell at least 1 of them. We are also are not producing the talent that we once were as the insidious AFL goal posts are going up everywhere in our Schools and we do not have the huge immigrant population that sustains Western Sydney

The defenestration of Des: Could Hasler’s sacking be an opportunity for somebody else?

Think it would be a bit of a stretch for the Knights — we don’t have a quality half back or a spine for that matter and the West groups attention has shifted back to maintaining the 4 local Leagues clubs profits where they may have overreached . So we don t have the cattle and Des doesn’t strike me as a Coach that wants to go to a losing team besides we will probably not be able to afford Des anyway. We will do what we always do, keep O’Brien around too long and only replace him when the fans get really really cranky

The defenestration of Des: Could Hasler’s sacking be an opportunity for somebody else?

Must be those rubber knives the clowns use at the circus H because it looks like he’s the Coach

‘Icon’ Hasler damned with faint praise as Manly axe him 'in best interests of club' to put Seibold in charge

Seibold for Hasler ? They sure do like their masochism on the Peninsular

‘Icon’ Hasler damned with faint praise as Manly axe him 'in best interests of club' to put Seibold in charge

Hopping the Knights can get at least a couple of wins this season — They seemed competitive in a few games last time – onward and upward I suppose.

NRLW 2022: Round 1 predictions and preview as Roosters launch back-to-back bid

You have to hand it to the Browns — they always find a way to stuff things up. They’re the Frank Spencer of NFL. Dont know which is worse the Lions or the Browns in their ability to lose games and have wonky Personnel. Even the miserly Bengals can jag a good Quarterback or two and put it over the Browns. With the Steelers on the rise and the clever steady as she goes Ravens, the false ray of hope that the Browns had of winning the AFC North is once again plunged into the abyss.
