I thought the Knights would be left out every year because last years — Quote ” There is not much interest for the Newcastle team in Queensland” unquote. — With the Dragons there certainly is

Yes if you watch the quality of the AFLW 18 teams there is clearly a huge drop of in quality between Melbourne Brisbane and Adelaide and the rest of the teams going around. The exiting thing about NRLW is that contests are close and scoring except for a couple have not been huge blowouts also tries and goals are occurring at a natural pace at the same frequency as the men. In comparison to the desert of low scoring that is AFLW. I am astonished how well the kicking game has improved over the last couple of years in NRLW especially the use of the chip and chase and the in goal grubber.- that takes skill. The sideline conversion kicks have improved as well.

Very true —the AFL I hear in QLD are perhaps taking over at school boy levels there. But even travelling around the Hunter, New England and the Central West as I do I have seen over the last decade in the schools the H goal posts gradually being replaced by the Chopsticks.

Sort of understandable – no body much shows up to McDonald Jones to watch the Sharks or Titans or the Warriors go round. I’ve met a few Sydney-siders Queenslanders and Canberrans who think Newie or Easts or the Gold Coast shouldn’t be in the comp because they have little interest -its up to the Local fans to support their team which we in the Hunter do — not waste their time on the pique of others.

I think it is the result of the Covid lockdowns has made Pokie receipts in the region take a downturn — but I have heard that of the 4 clubs Newcastle, Mayfield, Cardiff and NewLambton (HQ) that the West Group are trying to sell at least 1 of them. We are also are not producing the talent that we once were as the insidious AFL goal posts are going up everywhere in our Schools and we do not have the huge immigrant population that sustains Western Sydney

Think it would be a bit of a stretch for the Knights — we don’t have a quality half back or a spine for that matter and the West groups attention has shifted back to maintaining the 4 local Leagues clubs profits where they may have overreached . So we don t have the cattle and Des doesn’t strike me as a Coach that wants to go to a losing team besides we will probably not be able to afford Des anyway. We will do what we always do, keep O’Brien around too long and only replace him when the fans get really really cranky

You have to hand it to the Browns — they always find a way to stuff things up. They’re the Frank Spencer of NFL. Dont know which is worse the Lions or the Browns in their ability to lose games and have wonky Personnel. Even the miserly Bengals can jag a good Quarterback or two and put it over the Browns.
