laughing alone in your closed world must be lonely.

The FFA failed the Matildas, now the clubs must do better

Buddy, fair enough, I hear you.
Many of our national teams have won many world events
E.G.
Wallabies,
Rugby League,
Netball,
Hockyroos,
Cricket in three formats,
Golf (Individuals),
Tennis Davis Cup,
Squash,
Surfing,
Basketball
Etc Etc.
Australia is right up there on the world stage on many fronts
I ask you……………..how good is our minutely populated nation on the world sporting stage? Brilliant I say!
I get football is played by so many nations but it does not change the facts …………many football nations are far more advanced than Australian football. I don’t think I’m being harsh in saying we are not in the par zone of the best nations, I’d appreciate your thoughts.

The FFA failed the Matildas, now the clubs must do better

All our football teams are sub par on the world stage. With enthusiasm, we talk them up big time.

The Matildas become the next best things in the absence of Socceroo’s lack of recent success and deservedly so, they are exciting and daring. However we got the reality check in France, we are disappointed but we move on.

Olyroos just don’t cut it

Reality is we are middle of the rung in the world of football. 2006 socceroos with real pedigree bona fide champions was a brief exception, where we punched above our weight.

The FFA failed the Matildas, now the clubs must do better

“You are confusing governance of SPORT with governance of a competition” ………….no confusion here, just with you.
The AFL commission, elected by the 18 clubs, governs both.
A democratic process – something very foreign to FFA, FIFA and Aust football in general.

If the clubs want to run the A-League, what's their plan?

@ N

most of the majors…………..ACB, NRL, AFL just to name a few in Aust. Many overseas like RFEF in Spain & I think Bundesliga is.
Aust Football does not need guidance but unity would be a great start, how else can it move forward?

If the clubs want to run the A-League, what's their plan?

No good blaming Gallop for all the failings – Football in Australia lacks independent governance, too much self interest, political in fighting and A League clubs looking to re coup lost money.
Hardly a single strategy & united focus for a successful code to flourish as it should.

If the clubs want to run the A-League, what's their plan?

@ R
Many free tickets to games could be one answer

Football must find new revenue streams in more ways than one

A League in Tasmania???- would FFA even know where Tassie is?

Has the AFL lost the code war for Tasmania?

Who says penalty shootout is harsh?
Goals, goals, misses and more goals.
Brings a level of excitement the soccer needs – I loved it!!!

Dramatic scenes as Perth Glory book home GF after tense shootout

This is why football is the greatest sport in Australia??……………..No, this is why EPL/Champions league/UEFA is the greatest soccer sport in Australia.
Excitement and skills personified, stunning performance by Liverpool.

Liverpool stun Barcelona to reach Champions League final

You want evidence, really? ………..they actually exist “duel/triple code members” ………..come to Melbourne and see for yourself ……………….or cut the BS denial crap!

The A-League's divisive nature is harming football in Australia

The A-League's divisive nature is harming football in Australia

Very true MF………..you can also include the Storm and Rebels in this example, many cross code members and all embraced. One big happy sporting family in Melbourne.

The appointment of Fowler says a lot about Brisbane Roar. At a time when it needs to rebuild & establish the club’s credibility, it’s takes a huge risk in its coaching selection. It will come to tears, but that’s Brisvegas.

Fowler or Castro? That's a no-brainer

Totally agree – if only the other clubs had such great supporters.
My point was the stadium is not the panacea for WSW’s resurgence, they need their supporters to stop talking the talk and starting walking it!

Can Parramatta return spur on Wanderers?

Not sure why many think this new stadium will fix the support and attendances issues for WSW. The enthusiasm for new stadium quickly wears off after 2 – 3 games.
MV, the best supported club in A League, average 15 – 20k at AAMI park, regarded as one of the best rectangular stadiums in Australia. Well below capacity.

Can Parramatta return spur on Wanderers?

“And, one would lose that argument because there would be no facts to validate the argument.”
If A league continues its spiraling path – the facts will mean nothing!

A grand final at Optus Stadium in Perth is exactly what the A-League needs

Nick, one could argue that NSL had a bigger profile and more support than the current A League.

A grand final at Optus Stadium in Perth is exactly what the A-League needs

Melbourne, google it!
BTW…… we know Sydney is the biggest, but thanks for reminding us!

Do the Western Sydney Wanderers still have fans?

That would be right – Sydney people talking about crowd numbers, laughable. In a sporting sense………….. if you live in Sydney, you’re just camping out! Brisbane too!

Do the Western Sydney Wanderers still have fans?

Are you entertained yet? ……… We are indeed, the great “unwashed” have made their Choice! Oh if only A League had this much love!!!

Only finals can save this A-League season

An amazingly poor decision by FFA to play at the SCG.
No point complaining about the surface now. Its so obvious the ground condition was going suffer with Union, NRL & AFL using the ground 2-3 times a week, yet now its the SCG’s fault?
No FFA!!!……………… its your mismanagement thats at fault.

Some smarter decisions can help get the A-League back on track

Hey JoyofX I note that Josh has gone AWOL…………….funny that!

What can we learn from the AFL and FFA's participation rates?

There are only a few codes that will work collaboratively with other codes like AFL/Netball. NRL/Netball. AFL & NRL clubs all over regional Australia have shared facilities with footy, netball, basketball and cricket. This creates small but powerful sporting clubs all over Australia.
Football rarely integrate themselves in this way, rather take their own path as stand alone entities. Who knows maybe one day this will change and soccer will seek out this type of cross code collaboration?

Will Western United be the A-League's first super club?

Headline reads – When are we going to start talking about the football again?……………………………………… it never stops for EPL, UEFA etc……it just Australian Football &
A league that went to sleep last week.

When are we going to start talking about the football again?
