There were calls that the Aussie batting line up was the worst ever sent to england, yet they still couldn’t beat us despite all the umpiring help.
Aussies should be disappointed with underwhelming Ashes
Warner needs to show he’s regained form after his lay off.
Who should the Test selectors look at for the summer?
In soccer terms, a 2 all away draw following a 4 nil home win would be considered a raging success. The own goals are always Paineful though!
England win despite stunning Matt Wade ton
Patterson would also be in contention, as would Maxwell and Carey if they can score some sheild tons. You could also bat labs and wade at 5 & 6 if we find a top 3.
England win despite stunning Matt Wade ton
A great effort by wade. Despite a somewhat inconsistent series hes still managed to score 2 away centuries, something few aussies bar smith have been able to do recently. Paine scored 180 runs @20. Our openers scored 197 runs between them. Our bowlers meanwhile must have generated an extra 25 wickets between terrible catching and umpiring.
England win despite stunning Matt Wade ton
Its probably lucky that Head has missed this game, and thus avoided more scrutiny.
Flat Australia blunted by Denly and Stokes
Well the 2nd and 3rd test were turned on bad umpiring. So we could easily have been 4 nil up if stokes wasn’t immune to LBW.
Australia on the other hand thrashed England in both games Smith completed. The teams are actually pretty even without smith, but obviously this match we are hung over.
Have Australia really been the better team in this Ashes?
Not even smith can carry 4 dud batsmen, 150+ runs from dropped catches and what ever bad luck the umps have thrown our way.
Flat Australia blunted by Denly and Stokes
Would also work with Agar at 7.
You could then play 4 quicks if suited.
Humble pie all 'round as Mitch Marsh rips through England
Cummins
Starc
Hazlewood
Pattinson
J Richardson.
Ain’t no shortage of quality fast bowlers.
Humble pie all 'round as Mitch Marsh rips through England
Stokes is a match winner pure and simple. 8 hundreds to Watson’s 4, 9 4+ wicket hauls to Watson 4. Yep Watto would make this team in a heartbeat, but at the time he had a good 18 months and the rest of the time he was a huge under performer with bat as he couldn’t convert 50s to hundreds, and was not a match winner with the ball.

Come on now, they are just looking for an excuse to allow smith to bat for a triple ton!
Humble pie all 'round as Mitch Marsh rips through England
Correct decision to bowl first by Tim Paine!
Clearly you don’t want to be facing fast bowling when your that hung over that you cant even take simple catches!

And he was one of our best batsman agains’t a strong indian attack.
Dropping Head for Marsh was a mistake
Unfortunately England will probably rob Marsh of a century.
Their batsmen simply cant score enough runs for him to be 0/100!
Dropping Head for Marsh was a mistake
This is an absolutely brilliant ploy by the Aussie selectors to get one over the England fans. If we can avoid loosing then we can make the claim.
“England were so bad we could even beat them with Mitch Marsh in the team!”
Dropping Head for Marsh was a mistake
The best batsman in county cricket this year was a guy called Labuchagne 😊
No 'ifs' as the better team are in front
Harris was the leading shield scorer and was unlucky to be dropped. Its also harder to come in mid series. That being said he is an aggressive style batsman like warner, which is a poor combo.
Dropping Head for Marsh was a mistake
Labuchagne was picked as an all rounder. Currently has 10 wickets at 27 and averages 38 with the bat.

Shield stats for last year
Mitchell Marsh
Batting ave 35
Bowling average 40
Michael Nesser
Batting average 43
Bowling average 23
Why is Marsh even being discussed.
How Siddle and Marsh could both play at the Oval
So does that mean we can claim that India didn’t beat us last summer because we didn’t have Smith?
Did Australia really win the Ashes?
When you consider a medium fast bowler has only played in two games and its been Cummins, Hazlewood, Pattinson, and Starc, the rest of the time, its clear that pace has nothing to do with success. Instead is the combination of pace and control. Simple fact was Starc wasn’t ready to go first test, and Hazlewood hadn’t shown any form prior to the second test. Siddle saved us with the bat and had terrible luck. Starc got Stokes, and broke the game open. If he had played 2nd and 3rd test then we may be 4 nil up because without Stoke’s centuries we win.
Ditching Lehmann's pace obsession won Australia the Ashes
The biggest problem is that most of the young guys are not converting their starts. Then we have Burns who does know how to convert but who’s technique is not quite good enough for an opener if the ball is doing something.
He seems like the perfect candidate to bat in the middle order.
For the openers I would go Khawaja and probably Warner if he can show some form. Patterson should be in with a real shot two if scores some runs.
It’s open season as the scramble for top-order runs begins
