I must have watched a different game. Tate’S pass to Jordie on the blind side was sublime.

'It was brutal': Clutch Lolesio kicks Brumbies to 'Test match intensity' win over Reds as Wright shines again

I hope that the Reds ditch the barbarian style play. This is a trial and should be an opportunity to lay a foundation for the season ahead. Positives for Reds are steady scrum and depth at halfback. Major negative was flaky play of Petaia. Campbell is streets ahead as fullback.

SRP trial teams: Tahs, Rebels name big guns, Reds lose O'Connor as Donno starts for Force

Given the force that Barrett hit Tate with no one could have held that ball. Tate got little protection from his forwards most of the night and spent a lot of time making tackles missed by backrowers.

All Blacks smash Wallabies to seal Bledisloe AGAIN as Eddie's pain grows after devastating injury to star prop

A lot has been written about the lack of a quality 10 but perhaps it may have something to do with the half back. I recall Cooper only getting the ball 5 times against the Boks and half the time you could get a beer waiting for White to clear the ball from the ruck. It is going to be hard for any 10 when hampered by slow ball.

'Why is Quade running this team?': All Blacks great doubles down on selection issue, Fozzie says Eddie is 'right'

Reds assistant coach was interviewed after halftime and said that the tactics were to hold possession and minimise kicks. Sadly the opposite happened. It may have been acceptable if there were chasers but Vunivalu in particular was absolutely useless. How he is selected is beyond me. On the plus side Campbell played well and stepped up after Tate left the field. I feel for Liam Wright. Scored a try and then had his shoulder dislocated by a cheap shot knee in the back. Good leadership and execution of the game plan could have saved the Reds even in the face of home town officiating.

'That's a big loss': Reds' season hanging by a thread after losing both captains, lock for season

Coming in cold off the bench doesn’t help and then trying to pick up Gordon’s pass from his toes was the clincher. He should have started the game.

Confirmed: Wallabies' worst fears realised over Tupou, White out of Wales clash amid injury crisis

After the last turnover a team like the AB s would have treasured the ball and ground out as many phases as it took to score. The WBs played their predictable low percentage high risk pattern with the usual result.

REACTION: 'Gutted', 'hugely disappointing' - Shocking Taniela verdict after another heartbreak

He is one of the most fearless front on tacklers in the game. The covering tackle that he missed was down to some great stepping at speed by the Scottish player. Tate covered a massive amount of ground just to get near him.

REACTION: 'Somehow!' - Wallabies reprieved at the death to open tour with nail biting win over Scotland

Watch him play before perpetuating that myth.

WALLABIES TEAM: Rennie hails Jock's 'great story' ahead of debut, Tate starts at No.9 and Hoops picks himself

Predictive text- Samu.

WALLABIES TEAM: Trio return for first TRC action, Philip missing and Tupou still sidelined

Sami had a couple of great takes in the line out last week. He provided a fourth option.

WALLABIES TEAM: Trio return for first TRC action, Philip missing and Tupou still sidelined

When Gordon came into scrum half his passing was so crisp it made me realise how poor White was. He is level headed and gets in and does his job. Time to drop the boy with the porn star mo and start Gordon with Tate to finish the last 30.

REACTION: Boks turn salty tears into raging torrent of revenge, Marika smashed and humbled in TRC 'mugging'

I must have been watching a different game. Samu played well when he came on but McReight was one of the best on field before he was replaced. Holloway was stuck doing the work that the tight forwards should have been doing.

REACTION: Boks turn salty tears into raging torrent of revenge, Marika smashed and humbled in TRC 'mugging'

Classical example was picking specialist 8 Harry Wilson at 6 and making him play a style that was unfamiliar in the furnace of an international.

Wallabies blow: Hooper OUT of Argentina series amid 'mindset' battle, Rennie says skipper 'clearly been struggling'

And that myth is perpetuated.

Wallabies DIY player ratings from the 2nd England Test: The Wright stuff and a tough night for JOC

Being rejected by Thorn and the Reds has also been the making of Quade Cooper. The player we see now is far more mature and is now a team player rather than a gifted egocentric as a result of having to do some self examination. Three months with SBW changed his outlook considerably.

Rugby News: Swain ban length revealed, Quade out of second Test, Wallaby prop's warning to Poms

It used to be a running game where scrum resets and penalties were rare and only blatant foul play was penalised. We don’t want a return to the thugby played by the likes of Meads and Loe but the ball is in play for so little of the game with multiple tmo replays, scrum resets etc that the non rugby spectator must think that they have stumbled upon a new variant of American football.

When rugby stopped being the game they played in heaven

Sad to say that, for the first time since a test against Scotland in 1982 I will be cheering on the opposition. This is not an Australian team, it is an expression of who has influence at the selection table. Some good Tahs have missed out too.

'They struggled': Everything Dave Rennie said about Reds snubs, TT and JOC fitness, and player who's surprised him most

One of the better aspects of the game (and there were few) was the referreing. Ben O’Keefe has been criticised for his perceived lenient treatment of the tackle on Jordan Petaia however his overall handling of the game was one of the best that I have seen this year. Almost twelve minutes elapsed before the first penalty was blown and he did his best to let the game flow. He was a refreshing change from our anal retentive referees who give a red card for an accidental scratch to the face of an opponent and whose policing of rucks and scrums means that our game is in danger of being relegated to the status of gridiron where there is more time out than actual play. The likes of Jordan Way especially and also Berry and Co should take note of how a game can be allowed to flow.

REACTION: 'We came out shellshocked'- Reds rue slow start as Crusaders cruise to win

I remember the same referee last year in Reds vs Rebels. He was booed from the field and disappeared into Brisbane club rugby. I hope that he doesn’t get a third chance.

REACTION: Perfect Petaia, Paisami and Drua desire combine in SRP epic despite 'farcical' TMO delays

I commented a week or so ago that Nell’s played his best for the Reds when he started and played until he ran out of steam. Last night was proof positive and will hopefully end the perception that he is best used as an impact player sometime through the second half.

MATCH REPORT: 'Box office' Thor hammers South Africa as Wallabies charge to famous victory

Sadly Swinton’s tackling technique didn’t improve after his ten minute rest. He doesn’t seem to be able to use his arms in a tackle and just leads with his shoulder.

Rennie puts onus on Wallabies enforcer 'to be better' after another card

The forward pack is nothing short of soft. Picking these players again is the definition of stupidity, doing the same thing time after time and expecting a different result.

CONFIRMED: Quade Cooper returns for Wallabies at No.10, Rodda starts, two debutants

TT played his best football this year when he played the whole 80 minutes. This idea of him coming on as an impact player has failed dismally. Start him and let him play until he runs out of steam. He needs to start to find a rhythm that is currently sadly lacking. He needs to do more than earn scrum penalties
.

VOTE: Wallabies player ratings from Bledisloe 3

Wallabies are short priced favourites for the spoon.
