This is a good discussion point and opportunity.
I think we need to look at a reserve grade or under 23,s. To be played possibly before SR.
It allows for an extended squad. Builds competition. Is the 3rd tier and the gap filler.
Players like Barrett, DeLuitis. Bowen would be the types of players targeted.
With the Rebels now gone. I believe we have the numbers

Toole and Wright light up Perth but Brumbies suffer fresh blow to Wallaby ahead of knockouts

Great to see the majority of rugby lovers here in alignment.
That being Herbert acting appropriately and respectfully in replying to what was a weak proposal and now mud throwing based on desperate self survival

Let’s hope this doesn’t drag out in the courts
Nobody needs that. Especially the game

'Simply unacceptable': RA chief fires back after consortium's leaked claim of 'abusive' behavior

Hard to compare the storm to rebels.

In 2012. The NRL gauranteed the storm 26.5 million over 6 years.

The storm broke even financially for the first time in 2017
And winning of course helps.

The NRL committed and had the resources.
RA have neither.

Battleground full of losers leaves more instability for Australian rugby as RA plays a risky game

I was there last night and for Ryan’s debut
The impressive thing is his growth in such a short period.
He is now popping up everywhere and the reds. Lynagh in particular are using him as an attacking weapon.
The kid works hard off the ball and is not afraid to defend.
I don’t want him pushed early.
In fact. I hate the hype every week nominating new Wallabies
But he has a something special and it sticks out
What do we lose giving him a go?
I think wallabies need to strategically take some risk to get results.
X factor.
With that mindset Toole or Ryan for at least 1 wing position in the Wallabies.

'His decision making is exceptional': Lynagh masterclass, Ryan hat-trick as future Wallabies help Reds stomp Force

Lukan SL before injured was form lock by a mile.

Five things: The crucial area that will keep Joe Schmidt up at night, Wright shows he's ready for Wallabies return

Now we are talking sense
This is what RA and AUS SR teams need to look at.
The gap between. Hospital cup, Shute shield. Gets closed.
Let’s go 1 step further. U20,s played before.

Five things: Where DC got it wrong with Tahs, perception and reality for Wallabies hopeful as Test bolter shines

Williams, Amatosero . One good game and they are now in the wallabies squad.
I don’t see Willians close.
Amatosero is a future prospect now he has settled. It was always going to take time. He’s young.
I don’t support the Waratahs.
I will say the injury toll to forwards is horrific. No coach could deal with that.
As far as Flook vs Daugunu for wallabies. Defensively in the difficult 13 Chanel. Flook is better.
I would select Flook as backup to Ikitau

Five things: Where DC got it wrong with Tahs, perception and reality for Wallabies hopeful as Test bolter shines

Fundamentally I agree with the assessment , order.
I am unsure about the readiness timings.
Who gets picked at 10 will depend on combinations, game plan.
If you want predictable. You chose Noah.
That comes with the need to pick a winger to be able to cover his defence frailities. Potentially losing a speedster on the wing.
If you want an attacking mindset and a frontline defender you pick CG.
It’s the start of the 4 year World Cup cycle.
I would like to see some stability and a pick and stick attitude with the Wallabies for this test year.
they all need game time
( unless Noah is injured, he should have played last night. The season is short as it is.)
Either way we all need to accept that they will make mistakes. It will take time.

For me Gordon and Lynagh are the future. They both need to be in the squad learning. They have the most growth.
I also agree re Donaldson I do not see him as a viable longterm wallaby 10

'Nothing's a short-term fix': Schmidt seeks to bring 'fragmented' Wallabies together, says Beale is 'finding feet'

I’m glad you mentioned the Rebels in your lazy analysis.
“The Rebels are an example of plenty physical”.
The Rebels weren’t too physical against the Blues.
They got smashed physically everywhere from the get go.

My point is. It all starts from the mindset. If you are not prepared to be physical. The chances of winning go down rapidly.

Progress is slowly happening: What each of our Aussie Super Rugby teams must do to take the next step

3 work on’s for Aussie teams.
Physicality. Physicality. Physicality.

You get these 3 right. You are in the game.
The other game elements flow from this.
It will be also lead to consistency of performance.

The aussies teams are re learning to win. Based on guess what.
Physicality.

Progress is slowly happening: What each of our Aussie Super Rugby teams must do to take the next step

Thanks Bennett.
I never said I would pick him at wallabies in 15. Just that I don’t think he’s a 10.

The five candidates for the Wallabies No.10 jersey - and the old heads who may sneak in to join them

Please don’t go backwards and call in the old guard.
If we are pulling in anyone from os. It should be locks.
Whoever is chosen needs time. Certainty of selection for a period.

Depending on what style you want to play will be the 10 Joe picks.

If you want no frills , predictable.
You pick Noah. Followed by Lynagh

If you want X factor. You pick Carter.

You pick the team. And then the goal kicker.

In my opinion. I’m going Carter and Lynagh as I see them long term
They balance each other.
They have more growth than the others.

I think Donaldson is a 15.
Noah seems to have peaked.
Even Rennie was unsure about Noah.

Everyone has a view. It’s up to Joe.
Interesting to see where he goes.

The five candidates for the Wallabies No.10 jersey - and the old heads who may sneak in to join them

A lot of comparisons of the young 10,s here.
If you want predictable. Meat , potato and 2 veggies as a no 10. NL is your man.

If you want an attacking mindset a 10 that defends vigorously in the front line.
X factor.

CG is your man. It would be a disaster to lose him.
Of all the young 10s. He has the most potential.
For all those who think RL won’t go after him.
RL teams are frothing over Galvin. He’s played 3 games. They will go after CG.

In relation to CG goal kicking. He plays off a scratch golf handicap. That indicates he has all the natural
Skills to be a good goal kicker.
His success rate will increase.
Give him time.

Wallabies' young gun mulling NRL switch as Rebels' future continues to cloud picture

“Or at least nothing that suggests the Brumbies are legitimate Super Rugby Pacific title contenders this year or are unearthing any elite international talent”

Charlie Cale has been unearthed.
He is something special. It may not be this year. But he’s coming.

I’m not buying the doom and gloom.
Props are an issue. Mainly due to injury.
Locks are there and developing.

Wallabies back row can be more than competitive.

There is no doubt the kiwis have greater depth in most positions.
You can only pick 23 players.

Super Rugby shows that the Bledisloe Cup isn't going anywhere - one selection could give the Wallabies hope

The biggest point out of that performance from the Rebels.
Is how much they missed LSL
He is their forwards leader.
He sets the physicality level.
The form aus lock
Hope he is back soon.
The other issue is Parling as line out coach for Wallabies. Scott Barrett destroyed the Rebels line out.
Not a good sign.

'We got our pants pulled down': Rebels smashed in reality check as Crusaders keep finals hopes alive

Coincidental. This is a tactic. A tactic which has now been approved. Empowered. Rewarded
Ok. Let’s see if someone else does the same thing. Especially an Aussie

This one wasn’t late like the cheap shot on Lynagh. Very doubtful if arms are looking to wrap. More of a shoulder charge to me.

I just hope there is consistency.
Imagine the uproar if Swinton hit McKenzie like that. Their would calls seeking the death penalty.

Btw. Aussie forwards. Time to protect. Payback. You need to increase physicality. Fight fire with fire.

'Purely coincidental': Chiefs coach defends bruiser after ANOTHER late shot leaves Tah flattened - but was it legal?

Big news for the tigers.
Finally got all the pieces in place with Richo signing longterm.
Watch them grow now.
Exciting times ahead for tigers fans.

NRL News: Ferguson's marquee deal terminated by semi-pro team, Benji happy with Tigers' CEO call

Great to see AAA back.
Fully fit first Wallaby picked.
I hope they ease him back.
Nella and Leota both showed this is an injury to comeback via a progressive plan.
The canes have a serious scrum. He will be under pressure from the get go.
Len has been sorely missed both defensively and attacking options.
If the Brums are any chance. It’s the forwards who need to bring physicality up 300% from last week. I’m looking at you tight 5. Lift your game.

Brumbies to welcome back Wallabies duo for 'Canes clash after week of soul-searching, Tahs to tweak side for Chiefs

Christy. Need to take a chill pill
Rodda and Beale were good for 1 game.
Are we now picking Wallabies off 1 game in a couple of years.?

Rodda can make his way back to Wallabies. I doubt by mid year.
Unsure about Beale getting back.
We have some good young backs that we need to develop. They need to be at international level for experience.

In my opinion the form lock in Aus atm is Luhkan SL.
Holloway has been good especially at line out. Although I feel his work rate is not high enough for test rugby.
I don’t think it’s all doom and gloom in the locking stakes. I would select and have Skelton return.
Frost is developing. So is Canham.
Is Hooper a lock or no 6?
Is Valentini a 6 or 8 under Joe. ?

I await with interest what Joe is seeing and thinking.

Five things: What Beale has over other golden oldies, double pain for Brumbies as Blues expose Australia's biggest weakness

The Corolla got a new engine last week with Rodda.
Beale was the restored gearbox.

The Wrap: Why SANZAAR must hold Frank Lomani accountable for 'going back for his hat'

Well done force.
Since season start I have bagged there forwards.
Happy to be proven wrong.
Rodda was better than I remembered.
He led the forwards. Hit hard. He was calming. Spoke to other forwards.
And he’s a big unit. Intimidating.
The Crusaders are not a bad team by any stretch.
It goes to show that the difference from top dog to lower of the table can be small.
In saying that. The gap between the Brumbies and Blues last night was immense. Physicality was the obvious difference. That and lack of ball.
The Aussie teams are doing well and having a real go.
Time to go next level in physicality for next level results.

Beale, Rodda shine on Super Rugby return as Force smash Crusaders to keep finals hopes alive

I did say next week was a different challenge against blues.
Aussie teams are not there yet.
But progress is progress.
Isn’t it nice to have some rivalry back

'Like a Scud missile': World Cup reject leads rout, but Reds suffer fresh blow with Petaia's season in jeopardy

I was at the game last night.
The Reds were not perfect by any stretch.
That said there was not one area that they did not dominate a kiwi team.
Physically. Composure amongst them.
As an Aussie highly enjoyable watching a kiwi team implode.
Getting bashed and beaten badly.

Different challenge next week for reds against the blues.

But for Aussies and Wallabies fans.
I’ve said before.
The tide is turning. There will be some downs. The trend is going the right way.
I’m enjoying the ride.

'Like a Scud missile': World Cup reject leads rout, but Reds suffer fresh blow with Petaia's season in jeopardy

I think pollard is the future.
Big, fast. Needs game time.
He has the attributes of having a long wallabies career.

Aussie-born England capped rake Nic Dolly signs with Force ... and he'll soon be eligible for the Wallabies
